Chapter 395: Chapter 294: Departure (Part 2)
At this thought, Director Roland’s eyes lit up as if he had just discovered a massive treasure.
A wide smile spread across his face as he hurried over to sit next to Feng Shan.
"Feng, are you interested in being an investor for my new film? Just put in a little capital, and I guarantee you’ll see a huge return. I promise you, once this movie is released, it will absolutely make a killing."
Ha!
’The son of a bitch is finally showing his true colors.’
’So he was after my money all along. He wants to scam me.’
Frank once said you could sooner believe a prostitute has found true love than trust the words of a director.
To prove the truth of that statement, he had even brought up several tragic examples of investors who were ruined by directors.
Seeing that Feng Shan didn’t say anything after hearing him out, Director Roland, desperate to secure the investment and raise funds for his new film, leaned in and lowered his voice again.
"How about I make you a producer? I know someone who can connect you with some Hollywood starlets, if you know what I mean."
"What are you talking about? I don’t understand. I need to rest."
But Feng Shan put on the act of an innocent young man. With a look of pure ignorance, he deliberately shook his head as if he were completely clueless about what Director Roland was suggesting.
Fuck.
’What’s wrong with this Chinese guy? I’m being so obvious, but he’s still playing dumb.’
’Besides, this kind of thing is extremely common in Hollywood.’
’Investors have every right to choose the female roles.’
’Even if I don’t help with introductions, as soon as the news gets out that we’re starting a new film...’
’...second and third-rate actresses from all over will be knocking on his door to sell themselves. It’s such a great deal, how can he not get it?’
Director Roland felt utterly helpless looking at Feng Shan’s unyielding attitude.
He knew that any further attempts at persuasion would probably be useless right now.
He could only walk back to his seat dejectedly.
After plopping down, he continued to rack his brain.
’What on earth can I do to make Feng Shan willingly cough up some money?’
「An hour later.」
The P750 appeared in the skies above Fairbanks.
Looking down from the plane, the entire city of Fairbanks came into view. The neatly arranged buildings, the crisscrossing streets, and the blanket of white snow surrounding the city created a unique winter scene.
Following the air traffic controller’s instructions, Yves methodically executed the landing procedures. He landed the plane smoothly on the international airport’s runway, and with a slight jolt, the P750 came to a steady stop.
Just as Feng Shan and the others opened the cabin door and disembarked, they saw a shuttle bus parked beside the P750.
Immediately after, a woman in a short skirt stepped out of the vehicle.
The skirt perfectly showcased her long, straight legs, which were truly a stunning sight in the cold weather.
The woman was tall with a graceful figure and an exquisitely beautiful face. Every gesture exuded an elegant aura that was impossible to ignore.
Taking light steps, the woman walked up to Feng Shan. With a polite smile, she spoke in a soft and elegant voice.
"Hello, Mr. Feng. I am Mova, the supervisor of the *Petroleum* from the North Slope Petroleum Company. I will be in charge of this leg of your journey. Please come with me."
"Alright!"
Feng Shan didn’t stand on ceremony. After a slight nod, he turned and called for Yves, Nash, and Director Roland to board the shuttle one by one.
The shuttle slowly drove away from the public runway, heading straight for a semi-private one.
As soon as they entered the area, an exceptionally beautiful plane came into everyone’s view.
The plane was parked silently on the runway. Its fuselage glinted with a metallic sheen under the sunlight, its lines smooth and elegant, like a fine piece of art.
All around, ground crew members were busy at work. Some were inspecting the fuselage, others were loading supplies. Everyone had their own task, and everything seemed orderly and efficient.
"Is that a Gulfstream G650?" Director Roland recognized the aircraft at a glance, his eyes lighting up with pleasant surprise.
He then turned to Feng Shan, his face a mask of envy and admiration.
"Man, you’re really something else. They’re even letting you borrow a Gulfstream G650. That’s not something an ordinary person could arrange."
"Is this plane famous?" Feng Shan didn’t know much about aircraft. He simply thought the plane in front of him looked beautiful and had an appealing design.
Hearing Director Roland’s comment, he asked out of curiosity, "How much does one cost?"
"Around 50 million US Dollars, and I hear you have to place an order in advance."
Director Roland scratched his head, not entirely sure of the Gulfstream G650’s actual price. He had just been lucky enough to fly on one before, and at the time, he heard the owner say it cost over 50 million, so he was just speaking from memory.
Just then, Mova spoke up with a radiant smile.
"The exact price is 68 million US Dollars, and yes, you do need to order it in advance. We had this *Petroleum* on order for three years before we got it."
"68 million." After hearing the price, Feng Shan smacked his lips a few times as if savoring the number. Then he said casually, "That’s not too expensive. It’s a shame the runway at Crown Territory isn’t suitable, or I’d buy one too."
The moment he said this, everyone next to him was stunned.
A 68 million US Dollar plane was no small sum, yet Feng Shan spoke of it as if he were buying an ordinary item. He said it so casually that it was truly hard to believe.
’Is he for real?’
’Or just bragging?’
After hearing Feng Shan’s words, Mova couldn’t help but blink, her mind filled with doubt.
Just an hour ago, she had received a notice from headquarters stating that a VIP needed to travel on the *Petroleum*. The notice had specifically emphasized that they were to do everything in their power to satisfy any of the VIP’s requests.
As the supervisor of the *Petroleum*, she had welcomed many VIPs and considered herself quite experienced in judging a person’s status and capabilities.
When she first saw Feng Shan, she had subconsciously scanned his attire and noticed his clothes were basically all off-the-rack from Walmart. He looked completely ordinary, with nothing special about him.
Furthermore, judging from his manner of speaking and his behavior, he didn’t have the typical aura of a VIP. He seemed more like a regular person.
However, when Feng Shan said, "68 million isn’t too expensive," Mova clearly felt a different kind of aura suddenly burst forth from him.
It was a confidence that radiated from within—the kind of aura that only someone who genuinely doesn’t bat an eye at exorbitant prices and has absolute self-assurance would possess.
Mova was suddenly certain that the man before her was definitely not bragging; he truly had that kind of confidence.
’It seems this Mr. Feng is a hidden powerhouse.’
Director Roland, on the other hand, didn’t believe it for a second.
’Does Feng Shan have money? Sure, he must have some.’
’After all, you can’t build something as big as Crown Territory without some capital to back it up.’
’But if you’re saying Feng Shan is super rich, the rolling-in-money kind, then I don’t buy it.’
’In his opinion, Feng Shan was at most a multimillionaire.’
’He was still a long way from being the kind of super-rich tycoon who could casually drop tens of millions of US Dollars on a plane.’
Unfortunately, Feng Shan couldn’t hear Director Roland’s thoughts right now.
If he knew Director Roland thought of him that way...
...he’d probably just pull out his phone...
...open his bank’s text messages, and shove it in the director’s face...
...so he could get a good look at his financial power.
It was true that he didn’t have 68 million US Dollars in cash on hand right now, but he had other ways to make money.
Take the *River Beach*, for example. It was a money-making machine.
When the *River Beach* participated in the Emperor Crab fishing season, the profits were substantial.
In just three weeks, it had brought him nearly 15 million US Dollars in revenue.
And that was pure profit, after deducting all taxes, paying the crew’s salaries, and accounting for all wear and tear.
Calculating based on that earning speed, if he just worked hard and saved for three years, buying a Gulfstream G650 would be a natural outcome.
That’s why Feng Shan felt that a 68 million US Dollar plane wasn’t something he couldn’t afford, and why he spoke about it so casually.
That was confidence.
