Chapter 394: Chapter 294: Departure
At that moment, Jeff was prostrating himself on the snow.
He had been the very picture of piety, completely engrossed in the sacrificial ceremony.
But unexpectedly, a phone started ringing from inside his clothes, startling him so badly that he broke out in a cold sweat, his back instantly soaked.
’Fuck.’
He had set his phone to silent. It wasn’t supposed to ring unless it was a call from a designated contact.
’A designated contact?’
Jeff hurriedly pulled out his phone. He glanced down at the screen and saw Feng Mountain’s number.
’What could Feng Mountain possibly want at a time like this?’
But he couldn’t dwell on it. He carefully tapped the screen to answer the call.
He lowered his voice, trying his best not to disrupt the atmosphere of the ceremony, and asked softly.
"Hey, man. What’s up?"
"What? You’re going to Texas now and can’t get a flight?"
"Yeah, we have—"
Before Jeff could finish his sentence, Chief Welta’s furious voice boomed from the front.
"Bullshit! Who’s on the phone?! This is a sacred ritual! Believe it or not, I’ll slaughter you and offer you as a sacrifice!"
Hearing this, Jeff was so scared he quickly covered the mouthpiece and whispered back in the Chief’s direction.
"Chief, it’s Mr. Feng."
"Ah... Fuck! Why aren’t you answering such an important call?! Believe it or not, I’ll slaughter you and offer you as a sacrifice!"
What Jeff hadn’t expected was how the Chief’s irate voice instantly became incredibly gentle. The change was faster than flipping a page.
’So I’m going to be a sacrifice whether I answer the phone or not!’
Jeff rolled his eyes in resignation, then moved his hand from the mouthpiece and continued to speak softly into the phone.
"No problem. The North Slope Petroleum Company has a private jet. Just head straight to Fairbanks International Airport. I’ll let them know you’re coming."
After saying that, he quickly added another sentence.
"Gotta go. I’m in the middle of the tribe’s blessing ceremony."
...
「Inside the P-750’s cabin.」
’A tribe’s blessing ceremony?’
Feng Mountain hung up, casually fiddling with his phone.
To an onlooker, he seemed to be pondering something. His brow was slightly furrowed, and his eyes held a thoughtful glint.
But in reality, the Fire Seed in his mind had already silently connected to the Wild Bull Tribe’s Fire Totem, entering another, wondrous perspective.
From this unique vantage point, he looked down.
Feng Mountain was like a being standing high in the sky, looking down upon the prostrating members of the Wild Bull Tribe below.
It was a rather grand scene, he had to admit.
A quick glance revealed at least a thousand people participating in the sacrificial ceremony.
A dense crowd of people, all with pious expressions, were lying prone on the snow, muttering incantations.
Because the *River Beach* was unable to operate at sea during the fishing moratorium, the Fire Totem couldn’t transmit Soul Power to the camp.
Fortunately, the Wild Bull Tribe’s sacrificial ritual could replenish the Soul Power supply.
The Soul Power collected from the recently slaughtered livestock was still inside the Fire Totem.
He would leave twenty percent behind as a benefit for the Wild Bull Tribe. After all, it wasn’t easy for them to hold such a grand ceremony.
He would send the remaining eighty percent of the Soul Power back to the camp, so its Fire Seed could continue to operate and maintain its vibrant state.
With this thought, Feng Mountain’s will stirred, and the Fire Totem placed in the Tatanka instantly erupted with brilliant light.
The light was like a dazzling miniature sun, brightly illuminating its surroundings.
Above the Tatanka, the previously faint and elusive thread began to flicker with a faint red glow, pulsing with a mysterious rhythm.
Immediately after, wisps of Soul Power began to rhythmically pulse through the ethereal channel, like a beating heart, before gradually vanishing into the void, rushing toward their intended destination.
At the same time, a miraculous scene unfolded above the Fire Seed in the Crown Territory.
A thread slowly emerged from the void, its faint red glow flickering in and out of existence. Wisps of Soul Power trickled down this thread, gently sprinkling onto the tribe’s Fire Seed like a fine red mist, nourishing it.
After sending eighty percent of the Soul Power back to the camp,
Feng Mountain wasn’t done yet.
’After all, the Wild Bull Tribe will be working for the Crown Territory from now on.’
’I took most of the Soul Power they gathered in their ritual. I can’t just give them nothing in return.’
’It’s only right to give them a little something back.’
So, Feng Mountain controlled the Fire Totem, split off half of the remaining Soul Power, and with a gentle wave of his will, scattered it like a fine spring rain over the entire ritual site.
The blessing was spread evenly, with everyone receiving a tiny sliver.
Although it was just a sliver of Soul Power and the effect might not be particularly obvious, it would still be somewhat useful.
For minor ailments like the occasional headache or cold, this sliver of Soul Power acted like a small, warm current, providing some relief. It was a small bonus for the Wild Bull Tribe.
Once he had done all this, Feng Mountain disconnected from the Fire Totem.
The wondrous perspective vanished, and he returned to the reality of the P-750’s cabin.
Feng Mountain looked at the others, smiled, and said in a light tone.
"It’s handled. We’re flying directly to Fairbanks International Airport. I’ve borrowed a private jet."
Yves and Nash didn’t have much of a reaction.
In their minds, if Khilla said so, then it was already arranged.
They just did whatever Khilla said. So, they simply gave a slight nod and went back to what they were doing.
Director Roland, on the other hand, felt a strange flutter in his heart upon hearing this.
’Borrowing a private jet.’
’Can you just borrow a private jet whenever you want?’
’He says it so casually. It seems Feng Mountain’s connections in Alaska are incredibly strong.’
