Seeing Ah Dai regain consciousness, Yan Shi murmured, "Get up quickly, the elves are here."
Ah Dai had regained much of his strength after a rest, and as he nodded, intending to rise, he realized he was holding something in his hand. He remembered the moments before he drifted off to sleep. Lifting his eyes, he saw Xuan Yue looking at him with concern, he was lying on her soft thigh. As their eyes met, both Ah Dai and Xuan Yue simultaneously averted their gazes. Xuan Yue retrieved her small hand from Ah Dai’s grasp, her face flushing as she whispered, "Get up."
Ah Dai responded with a grunt, suddenly feeling a certain undefinable something had grown between him and Xuan Yue.
As he stood up, he noticed six new elves in the treetop house, all of them seemingly middle-aged, with two females among them. The one in the middle made him feel odd. Despite the smile on her face, an aura of authority resonated from her, her gaze fixed on him. Her beauty was fundamentally different from the fairy girl he had met before. It was a sort of noble, elegant beauty, emanating an enthralling charm. Ah Dai blurted out, "Ma’am, you are very beautiful!"
Yan Shi tugged at Ah Dai and whispered, "Be respectful, she is the Elf Queen."
No woman dislikes being praised for her beauty. The Elf Queen was no exception. She gave a small smile, and said, "It’s okay, child. On behalf of the Elf Clan, I thank you for saving our people."
Ah Dai scratched his head and said, "I.. I.. Ma’am, I’m not good with words. I just felt like those were bad people."
The Elf Queen sighed, "Yes, they are all bad people. The Elf Clan has always lived peacefully, not wanting any conflict, yet they kidnapped our people." Her countenance fell as she spoke, seemingly reminded of something sad. She turned to the elf named Odi beside her, "Odi, tell everyone about it. I’m getting tired."
Odi softly suggested, "Your Majesty, perhaps you should go rest."
The Elf Queen shook her head, closing her eyes. Her long eyelashes trembled against her troubled eyelids.
Odi stepped forward and said, "Dear friends of the Elf Clan, I am very thankful for your help. I am Odi, the High Elf Envoy in our clan. Well, you already know Tian Ying. The other three with me are also High Elf Envoys." Pointing to the other female elf, he said, "This is Senior Elf Envoy Ruo Yan."
Ruo Yan nodded at everyone, then addressed Ah Dai, "Young man, I can’t thank you enough for saving my daughter."
Ah Dai was taken aback, "Your daughter?"
Ruo Yan smiled, "Yes, Ruo Ma, whom you met before."
Ah Dai then recalled the young girl who had seen him use the Sword of Hades, "Ma’am, you’re too kind."
Odi pointed to the two middle-aged elves, "These two are Senior Elf Envoys Si Di and Biears." The two high elf envoys nodded to the crowd, who hurriedly returned the gesture.
Except for Ah Dai, everyone else was very surprised. Though Moon Scar and the others were visiting Elf Forest for the first time, they knew of the High Elf Envoys’ status among the elves. And current in front of them stood the Elf Queen, the supreme ruler of all elves.
With a sigh, Odi said with some difficulty, "Friends, now we, the Elf Clan, have a major dilemma, and we would ask for your assistance. Would you be willing?"
Moon Scar asked, "What problem is troubling the Elf Clan?"
Odi explained, "It’s a long story, but our Elf Clan has been living peacefully in the Elf Forest. Our self-sufficient lifestyle has always made us very happy. We have never provoked any race, including humans. Even the brutal Beast Man of the Tian Yuan Clan have good relations with us. However, for unknown reasons, many strangers have invaded our homeland in recent months. They prey on solitary elves and have kidnapped dozens of our people, despite our tight security. The most heartbreaking of all is that my and Queen’s daughter, Xing Er has been captured." His eyes welled up at the words.
Everyone was taken aback. Yan Shi gasped, "What? Princess Xing too? But she should have many elves protecting her!"
The Elf Queen sighed deeply, her eyes open again, "That naughty girl always felt stifled being surrounded by people all the time. She secretly used elf magic to leave Elf City. By the time we noticed, she had disappeared from Elf Forest, surely captured by these outsiders. Xing Er is only seventy-two years old, about fourteen or fifteen in human years. I dare not imagine what might happen to her. I am here with these high elf envoys, hoping we can find her with your help," saying this, spiritual tears rolled down her cheeks, her body faintly shuddering. Odi held her in his arms, sighing deeply.
Ah Dai walked up to the Elf Queen and said, "Ma’am, don’t cry. Your daughter will be fine. I...I promise you, I will find her and bring her back."
Moon Scar frowned, thinking, Ah Dai is too impulsive. How do you find one among so many on this continent? And who must have kidnapped the Elf Princess, would they be easy to deal with? He said, "Your Majesty, we do want to help you find your daughter. But I have a question. With your and the high elf envoys’ abilities, you have few opponents across the continent. Any one of you is stronger than all of us combined. Why seek help from us? I fear we might not be enough."
