Chapter 144: Chapter 33 Elf City_5

The Elf Queen looked at the somewhat bewildered Ah Dai and said, "Indeed, your powers are a bit lacking, but, we too have our own difficulties. You should know that across this entire continent, we Alien Race are looked down upon by humans. They discriminate against us, capture our kind, just to use them as slaves for their own amusement. From youth, all Elves, including myself, live here and everything on the continent is foreign to us. Though we possess formidable strength, without the Elf Forest, we are immobilized and incapable of finding our missing kin. Yet you are different, you understand the continent better than we do and being of the human race, you’ll have an easier time in carrying out actions. Most importantly, you are all friends of our Elf Clan, and I hope that you can extend a helping hand to us. Our Elf Clan will forever remember your favor."

Moon Scar said, "Your Majesty, I know your daughter’s disappearance has caused you great distress. We are not afraid of danger, but those who abducted the Elves are not people we can handle. Even if we find them, it’s impossible for us to rescue your kind. Furthermore, we have other objectives for this trip; apart from Yan Shi and Yan Li, we are all mercenaries and have our own mercenary tasks." He is not unwilling to help the Elf Clan; he just doesn’t want to die in vain. Those who can afford to pay a high price to procure Elves are not opponents that they can handle.

Ah Dai anxiously said, "Moon Scar, we can delay our trip to the Death Mountain Range; rescuing people is more urgent!"

Miao Fei huffed, "If you want to throw your life away, don’t drag us in. Going to the Death Mountain Range may give us a chance if we’re lucky, but if we offend those nobles with immense power, isn’t that asking for death?"

Ah Dai was puzzled, "How did you know it was the nobles who captured the queen’s daughter?"

Miao Fei said, "It’s not hard to figure out. Would those thieves risk coming into the Elves territory if high prices weren’t paid? The wealthiest on this continent are not the merchants, but the Nobles. There might be several imperial families implicated. With or without the ability to rescue them, can we really think that we can live to bring them back here?"

Yan Shi stepped forward, stood in front of the Elf Queen, and said in a heavy voice, "Your Majesty, my friend may speak harshly, but everything he said is true. Given our limited numbers, I’m afraid..."

Ah Dai became anxious, "The Elf Clan is so pitiful, why aren’t you willing to help them? If you’re not going, I’ll go by myself..."

Odie held onto Ah Dai’s shoulder, preventing him from continuing. He calmly said, "You can rest assured, since we asked for your help, we won’t let you throw your lives away. You want to go to Death Mountain Range, may I ask what is your purpose?"

Moon Scar said, "We have accepted a mission from the Mercenary Guild to search for the Top-Grade Magic Crystal in Death Mountain Range."

Odie nodded, "I see. I don’t want to discourage you but given your powers, if you go into the Death Mountain Range, coming out alive will be impossible."

Miao Fei tartly said, "How do you know we won’t succeed?"

Odie glanced at him and lightly said, "Because I’ve been there. I am one of the few who managed to come out alive from the Death Mountain Range."

Moon Scar exclaimed in surprise, "What? You’ve been to the Death Mountain Range?"

Odie nodded and said, "Indeed, a hundred years ago when I was still an Elf envoy. You should know, people tend to tap into their latent power at the most perilous moments. You may laugh, but back then, there were lots of Elves who were wooing Her Majesty, and their strength matched mine. In order to increase my cultivation and for the person I loved, I left Elf Forest alone and embarked on a journey to the Death Mountain Range."
