Chapter 113: Chapter 27 Pu Yan’s History_3

As he spoke, Pu Lin continued to walk forward, arriving in front of the sixth mural. The mural depicted a city, small in scale and lacking in abundant buildings, but it was still a city. With a sigh, Pu Lin said, "The land of the continent is vast. Even though we occupied most of the land, many things were quite backward due to the immense distance. Our tribes gradually split into several parts, creating what we now refer to as the White Race, the Black Race, and including the Red-haired Race, comparable to the Red Charming Clan. Influenced by local customs, they gradually separated from the rule of our Pu Yan Tribe, forming their own nations. They even abandoned the fundamental love of nature. They started demolishing forests and constructing the first cities. The leader of our tribe at the time did not chastise them since they were all descendants of the Pu Yan Tribe. After all, we the Pu Yan people, still occupied more than half of the continent’s land."

With sorrow etched in his eyes, Pu Lin moved to the seventh mural. The mural depicted a scene filled with smoke, seemingly portraying a war between several races. Pu Lin said, "Although we didn’t conquer those separated races, their growth rate was too fast, surpassing us in many ways. Eventually, they couldn’t stand being lonely and united to wage war on our Pu Yan tribe. In that war, both sides suffered substantial losses. But because our Pu Yan Tribe population had the absolute advantage, we ultimately emerged victorious. That was about twelve hundred years ago. After that war, the precursor to the present-day Empire of Tian Jing and Empire of Sunset City emerged. Races like the Yalian Tribe also gradually developed after the great war. Although the territory of our Pu Yan Tribe hadn’t diminished, the massive death toll from the war made it impossible for us to manage our boundary. The war had inflicted severe injuries on all races, everyone went into a period of recuperation, and our Pu Yan Tribe started its decline from grandeur." Two lines of tears streamed down Pu Lin’s face, his body trembling slightly. With a sigh, he walked towards the eighth mural.

The eighth mural depicted a group of beings, or rather, non-humans for their skin was green, their hands grew with spikes, and the sinister aura radiating from them could not be masked by the human form. The red pupils were filled with strange colors. In the center of the group, stood a giant three times taller than an average green-skinned being. He had spiked wings on his back. At his forehead, a horn, and chilling radiance flashed from the spikes on his hands, giving an intimidating appearance that makes one tremble with fear. Xuan Yue exclaimed, "Isn’t this the Ancient Demon God?"

Pu Lin nodded and said, "Indeed, he is the Ancient Demon God, or what the Dark Witchers consider their Demon God. At the time, less than a hundred years after the war, a new race of green-skinned beings suddenly appeared on the continent. They were ruthless and savage, naturally born with destructive powers. These creatures, now incredibly rare but not extinct, are what we know as Dark Witchers. The figure you referred to as Ancient Demon God is, in fact, the Dark Demon Lord. His power was so horrifying that you cannot even imagine it. The propagation of Dark Witchers was extremely fast, including our Pu Yan Tribe and the Southern people from the Empire of Huasheng, no one knew how they emerged on the land. Their existence was a nightmare for human beings at the time. The Pope should know, the catastrophe from a millennium ago started with the Dark Witchers. Initially, their numbers were not vast. But their physically robust bodies were much superior to average humans. They rapidly seized a small part of the continent and any races opposing them perished. In a mere fifty years of development, the number of Dark Witchers had grown over ten million. That was our initial mistake! If we had exterminated them upon their emergence instead of recuperating, what happened next could have been avoided. The Dark Witchers launched attacks on all races. Over a million Dark Witcher warriors stormed the continent, managing to take over half of it in just five years. We, members of the Pu Yan Tribe, despite our strength, were unprepared and thus couldn’t withstand the advance of the inherently potent Dark Witchers. In a mere five years, our tribe’s population plummeted to a fifth of what we had." As he reached this point, Pu Lin began sobbing uncontrollably, deeply mourning for his people.

Some time later, Pu Lin’s emotions somewhat stabilised. He moved a few steps forward and approached the ninth mural. The mural depicted a young man of impressive stature brandishing a magic wand. A soft white halo radiated from his body. Behind him were countless soldiers from various races. Most surprising for both Ah Dai and Xuan Yue was the sight of over a dozen legendary dragons of various hues soaring in the sky above his head. Meanwhile, confronting him was the Dark Demon Clan led by the Dark Demon God. With a sigh, Pu Lin said, "At the point where our Pu Yan Tribe was almost on the brink of extinction, the Savior emerged. Under his guidance, all races on the continent united. With the aid of the Ancient Giant Dragons, we waged the final battle against the Dark Demon Clan. By the war’s end, under the Savior’s wise leadership, we eradicated most of the Dark Witchers. Still, the overall human population of the continent had sharply declined to one-fifth of what it was before the catastrophe. As for our Pu Yan Tribe, we were reduced to less than five percent of our original number. The Savior unleashed a devastating Forbidden Curse, although it wasn’t able to wipe out all the Dark Witchers, it severely restricted their reproduction ability. To this day, Dark Witchers continue to be the target of extermination in every nation. However, they gradually moved from the surface to underground after that war, making them harder to trace. According to my estimation, their number shouldn’t be too high."
