Chapter 48: Reconstruction

The next day, Tang Yin opened his eyes, there was no more Abyss Qi remaining within his Qi Sea. It had all been consumed by refining his body, Tang Yin did not get up though. He focused his attention on the Heaven Devouring Abyss Martial Spirit, with a thought and precise control, large amounts of Abyss Qi gushed out.

The Abyss Qi did not leak out of his body, nor did it enter his Qi Sea, Tang Yin directed the Abyss Qi to circulate and refine his body. This was a direct method he wanted to test out, he did not want to direct the Abyss Qi to his Qi Sea each time he wanted to refine his body. It was too troublesome; he would rather circulate the Abyss Qi around his whole body straight out of his Martial Spirit.

Tang Yin had decided that he would store Abyss Qi in his Qi Sea and would not consume it to refine his body, instead, he would always keep his Qi Sea at maximum capacity for battle. He would only use the Abyss Qi from his Heaven Devouring Abyss Martial Spirit to circulate and refine his body.

Tang Yin sat cross-legged in the cave for half a month. Crick Crack, the sound of bones creaking, and cracking reverberated throughout the cave. Xiao Fei heard the noise, and worry appeared on her face for Tang Yin. But she remained in place to keep watch over the entrance of the cave.

Cold sweat broke out on Tang Yin’s forehead, he was enduring intense pain. At that moment, his flesh was ripped apart and his bones were shattered. His flesh and bones were reconstructing at a slow pace, the reconstruction process was slow, and the pain during the construction was enough to break the will of any person.

Tang Yin gritted his teeth till they nearly shattered, he held on firmly. He had been beaten up daily by Shan Yu when he was a servant boy in the Shan family. His tolerance towards pain was quite remarkable, yet even then it was almost unbearable for him.

A few minutes later, the reconstruction of his flesh and bones had been completed. Tang Yin let out a sigh of relief.

It was clearly recorded within the Basics of Cultivation; the body of a cultivator would go through reconstruction 8 times.

One could reach the 1st stage of the Physique Transformation Realm by forming a Qi Sea, to advance further one had to refine their body with their Qi. Every time the reconstruction of the flesh and bones occurred, this was the signal of a breakthrough.

If one could persevere through this reconstruction process, one would be able to advance to the next stage. However, the pain was intolerable for many people. Once one could not hold out and collapsed during the reconstruction phase. The cultivator’s body would stop its reconstruction, all the flesh and bones that had been reconstructed would disintegrate and the cultivator would die a painful death.

The reconstruction process would take place a total of 8 times, each time a cultivator successfully passed through a reconstruction phase, their cultivation would rise by a stage. Similarly, if one could withstand reconstruction 8 times, they would be able to reach the 9th stage of the Physique Transformation Realm.

The reconstruction of the flesh and bones for a cultivator was a disaster. However, with disaster came fortune.

With each successful reconstruction, the body of the cultivator would be reinforced by a large amount. The durability and stability of the flesh and bones would be increased largely, this also included the physical strength of cultivators improving hugely as well.

Tang Yin had successfully completed his first reconstruction phase. Therefore, he advanced to the 2nd stage of the Physique Transformation Realm. The strength and durability of his body had become much higher, he also felt that his body was lighter than before. This meant that his speed had also increased by leaps and bounds.

Tang Yin was not done though, there was still a large amount of Abyss Qi contained within his Heaven Devouring Abyss Martial Spirit. He only needed to circulate his Abyss Qi throughout his body for another 20 days to allow his flesh and bones to absorb enough Qi to reconstruct. If he bore through the pain of reconstruction for a few minutes, he could advance to the 3rd stage in one leap.

Thus, another 20 days passed by in the blink of an eye. Tang Yin calmly circulated his Abyss Qi throughout his body while thinking about the reconstruction process. The time to undergo another reconstruction process had arrived.

Tang Yin did not hesitate, since he decided to reach the 3rd stage all at once, he would not go back on his decision. He stopped channelling the Abyss Qi from his Martial Spirit. "Argh!!" Tang Yin roared as his flesh and bones were torn apart, each reconstruction process was more painful than the last.

Some cultivators in the Physique Transformation Realm would stay stuck at a certain stage for all their lives due to knowing or believing they could not last through the next reconstruction process.

Xiao Fei heard Tang Yin’s roars of pain and the sound of bones being shattered, it did not remain idle this time. She quickly rushed to Tang Yin’s side with concern etched on her face. She knew Tang Yin was going through an important phase from their connection. Xiao Fei did not disturb Tang Yin; she kept an eye on him while guarding the cave. If any sign of Tang Yin being unable to bear the reconstruction appeared, she would swoop in to help him.
