Chapter 507: 507. Right at the face
Theo didn’t care about anything else and ran forward.
His sword was somewhere nearby on the ground, but he decided to leave it behind.
The 3rd-year boy looked at Theo approaching and his eyes widened. He stepped back with his hands on guard that looked too flimsy.
"H-HELP!"
When Theo was too near the boy, he shouted as if not being able to give any mental commands anymore.
Theo tightened his grip on the ground and went forward with a punch. The big bird was too far away to do anything, but when it saw Theo attacking the tamer instead of the beast, it let out a loud screech.
Its neck started to bubble with fire, but that was it.
The trajectory was already fixed, and Theo just ignored the guard of the boy altogether.
His knuckles hit the left side of the boy’s face, making his eyes widen and a shockwave go through the skin as if he was hit by a rock or something.
BAM!
Many that were near the arena winced when they saw the attack make a literal sound and the boy fly to the side before falling on the ground.
The blue barrier acted up right away, and Theo felt a light pressure toward him.
But he was a little far from the boy, so it didn’t make him get pushed back.
"2nd hit out of the 3 has been made by Theo Merrick," the referee spoke.
Theo decided to move closer to the boy again to get that last hit, but he soon felt something enter his spatial sense.
He didn’t even have the time to look at the upcoming attack or beast, so he just jumped back while protecting the back of his head.
The very next second, Theo saw the ray of fire hit the ground where he was before.
But the big beast wasn’t done. It moved its beak toward Theo again, making him move back while still being on the ground.
When Theo finally got his footing back, he started running to the other side to not get caught up in the ray of fire that was constantly being sent by the beast.
But one thing was clear, Theo’s adrenaline was hitting another level right now.
He had hit a human like this right in the face without holding back for the first time, and it had a feeling of superiority to it he could not yet understand in his heart.
He saw the sword on the ground to the side and started moving toward it while tackling the increasingly closing-in ray of fire.
’How is it sending out this much fire and also flying right into it?’ a simple question came to his mind.
The big bird beast was sending out a ray of fire but also moving right into it by gliding or flying forward.
In Theo’s mind at that time, at that split second, a mental image was made of how the fire should hit the big bird beast too, but that was clearly not happening.
He looked back once to see what was really happening, and that was when Theo saw it for the first time clearly.
When the beast was sending out the ray of fire, it wasn’t moving that much but staying stationary in the air.
Its wings kept moving up and down in a silent manner while it moved its beak toward Theo in hopes of finally hitting him.
But at that moment, Theo felt something.
The shield on his body turned blue, and he was flung toward the side as if he had just been hit or something.
He quickly got back up and looked at the referee with a frown, but the referee moved the red flag toward Theo’s side.
He looked up to see the big bird not in the same position too, as if it was hit by the pushback as well.
"Due to Caelan Ashmere being unconscious inside the arena, Theo Merrick has won the battle by default," the referee spoke, and his voice got echoed everywhere without even shouting.
The whole coliseum that had gone silent while watching the fight looked at the referee, then back at Theo and the big beast in the air.
One person roared in excitement, which made a chain reaction go on until Theo heard screams and shouts from all directions.
He huffed in a deep breath and felt a pain in his shoulder constantly, but he still moved in circles slowly to see how many people were cheering while looking at him.
’I... like this,’ he thought to himself while he felt his blood pumping even faster at the side of his forehead.
But he had to look at workers in uniform bringing out a stretcher made out of cloth toward the only other human in the arena laying on the ground limp.
Theo decided to move toward the boy first to see how he was doing, only to be shown a hand by one of the workers who was too serious right now.
"The battle is already over, please back away," the worker spoke, and even before he could get an answer from Theo, the worker moved away to help the boy be put on the stretcher and taken away.
The roaring hadn’t stopped, and there were all sorts of comments made by people that Theo could not understand.
It was all so hyper and active that he didn’t know what to do but leave.
But at that moment, an idea came to his mind.
’The crowd is pumped right now, this is only natural,’ Theo thought, and then a smile appeared on his face.
He moved his hand up in a fist and shouted too, making the crowd go even more crazy.
The professors around the headmaster kept talking among themselves as if they had seen a gem just now.
But the headmaster was fully locked onto Theo basking in the celebrations of his victory.
"This boy will make our kingdom proud... he is the one," he said, making the two professors on his side look at each other and then at the boy.
Theo didn’t know yet, but he had left a lasting impression on all 2000 students in the fully packed coliseum, the professors, and the owner of the whole academy itself.
