Chapter 217: No choice but to let him go

Seth wasn’t sure if he would be teleported to that strange inheritance site first or if he would return straight to the Origin Realm.

But right now he didn’t care. In fact, to him, anywhere was better than here. It felt like each second he remained was suffocating him.

This was a natural response from his instincts, as no living being would be comfortable before figures that could end their lives in a blink.

Seth couldn’t put the feeling he got off these four into words. Their auras barely leaked out of their frames.

Their Will was the only oppressive element left to reign free in the surroundings, as Seth could feel their perception coiling around his frame.

Yet the dissonance in level of life echoed through his cells. He could feel the inferiority stemming from his very core.

Not from what he couldn’t be, but from what he wasn’t yet.

What was even worse was that if these beings had been pure-blooded humans, the suppressive element would have been tripled.

Still uncertain about these figures, unsure if they were hostile or friendly, Seth decided it would be best to leave now.

Letting the tug ripple through his being, Seth didn’t resist as the spatial pull ramped up.

How could the four Aces not see what was happening?

Farad’s third eye snapped open completely in that instant, not caring if he was offensive or giving a bad impression.

For now, retaining Seth mattered most. An arcane glow flashed from the depths as a brilliant surge of essence washed over Seth, locking him in place.

The undulating flow of space around Seth came to an abrupt halt. Seth choked as he felt yanked out of the process.

But the lock of Farad’s energy prevented him from moving, and he remained frozen in place.

Farad threw Horak a nasty glare. His lack of a mouth made his expression seem imperceivable, but those who knew him well could tell he was upset.

"What? I just asked a question!" Horak grunted, his voice bordering on a growl as his slits locked back on Seth.

"It wouldn’t be bad if you could just hold that pungent tongue of yours once in a while, Horak." A feminine voice rang out.

The female Ace of the Heart suit took slow strides forward, her enchanting emerald eyes lingering on Seth.

Donned in battle armor that held firmly to her figure, her hair flowed down in braided clusters, her skin a light ashen shade, her broad hips swaying with each step.

"You almost frightened our little champion into running," she added, a slight curl forming on her lips.

The Ace of Spades, a winged humanoid, settled behind Farad. He didn’t bother bantering with the others, seemingly worrying about something else.

"Will you be able to hold him for long, Farad?" he asked, with a cryptic gaze as he threw Seth a glance or two.

Farad shook his head, beads of sweat already budding from his temples. Resisting the Origin’s call wasn’t an easy feat.

Especially when blocking the connection against the evolvers’ Will.

Locking Seth in place was costing him each second. Staring at Seth frozen erect, wincing, his Will thrummed.

"Please, we mean no harm. If you would just hold off on leaving for a bit, it will be appreciated."

Locked in place, Seth couldn’t even speak. And if he could, he would have let them understand that this teleportation wasn’t within his control.

He was brought here for a quest, and he had completed it. Naturally, the Origin would take him back.

Seeing the unrelenting tug of space, Farad’s Will pressed down more firmly, a frown forming between his brows.

"Help me!" he hissed, his Will reverberating through the air, causing the other Aces to act.

Seth felt the weight of three more Wills bearing down on him, the spatial fluctuations thinning out.

Seth’s mind went blank, as though one wasn’t bad enough. Perceiving the Will of four immeasurably powerful figures was more than his fragile Awakened mind could bear.

Fractures bled cracks through his mind, a wet flow of blood streaming down his nostrils, ears, and eyes.

The four grimaced, retracting their Wills immediately, causing the undulating frequency of space to ramp up unchecked.

The participants watched silently as the four Aces remained at a loss. They couldn’t question Seth in this state.

And they couldn’t hold him either. Farad alone wasn’t strong enough to resist the Origin, and the four of them acting together—while indeed strong enough to stop the spatial influence—would end up killing Seth in the process.

Their Will was on a level of its own, long past the limits of worldly restraints, now at a stage where their Wills were fully integrated with their respective Dao.

Levying such a force on Seth would crush him, as seen...

This was the very reason they didn’t dare let a leak of their aura bleed from their bodies. A single sliver of essence from them carried enough weight to crush the Awakened elites on the Verdant Moon.

Now they were left between a rock and a hard place.

Restraining Seth meant killing him, and killing him was the least of their goals at the moment.

Not only could they not bear to lose the heir of the Wildcard, they couldn’t lose the opportunity he represented.

The prowess Seth displayed was enough to wow even themselves as Aces—beings that regarded those of the Awakened ranks as insignificant insects.

It was very difficult for Awakened rank experts to impress figures of their level, but Seth took a single day to do this.

Not only did this guy amaze them, the natural talent that stemmed from his racial genes was of a kind unseen before.

Even now, so close, they could feel the uniqueness of his being—an aura they hadn’t felt before.

Staring at Seth, they wanted to study him, nurture him, and bring him under their control.

But they just couldn’t due to his fragility. Messing around too much would just make them end up with a loss.

Plus, they still had to get the coordinates of his home planet.

"We can’t hold him for much longer." Farad’s voice echoed. Over his palm, a slow coil of essence brewed.

"Are you crazy? Don’t tell me you plan on killing him." The female Ace questioned with a deep frown.

Farad shook his head, explaining, "We can’t ask him any questions, and the Origin is too vast for an issued search to bring up results anytime soon."

A dark transparent murky bead pulsed in his palm as he inched closer to Seth, all three of his eyes flashing myriad lights. He continued, "This is an Umbra Pearl. It comes in pairs—the mother pearl and the child pearl."

The eyes of the remaining three lit up in instant understanding. "Then what the hell are you waiting for?" Seeing the space around Seth becoming more unstable by the second, Horak hurried.

Farad’s hand stretched forward, gently pressing the crystal bead into Seth’s chest. The tiny glass bead shattered into a dark haze that sank straight into the unconscious Seth’s chest.

Unable to hold any longer, Farad’s suppression over space weakened. His Will loosened and retracted back into his body.

Space burst into a chaotic fracture. Seth’s frame was sucked into the fracture in an instant, as it slowly fixed itself, leaving zero trace of Seth behind.

The four glanced at each other. They had tried their best, but they had no choice but to let Seth go.

But that wasn’t much of a worry. Farad glanced at his palm. A similar dark transparent murky bead appeared.

Pulsing for a bit, the bead rolled towards a certain direction, buzzing frantically.

Horak smiled savagely, gazing at the Umbra Pearl. His tongue scraped his teeth as he spoke.

"As long as the mother pearl exists, it will sense the child pearl no matter the distance or barrier. With this, we can track him no matter where he is."

Farad clenched his hand, sending the item back into his inventory. Remaining silent for a minute, he then turned to the silent crowd behind them.

Now that Seth’s case had been sorted, albeit not in a satisfactory manner, it was time to give attention to the other participants.
