Chapter 216: Heir of the Wild One

Seth stared up at the four god-like foreign race evolvers, his heart trembled.

Instinctively he could feel it—his instincts screamed at him. There was no hope!

No matter how ungodly his luck was, if these beings wanted him dead, they could end him on a whim, effortlessly and quickly.

’What level of power was this?’ Their prowess was so far beyond Seth he couldn’t even perceive their aura, only the absolute suppression it provoked.

His pupils trembled as a figure among the four drifted closer to him. Seth noticed the absence of a mouth from the foreign race evolver, and just as he was wondering how they would communicate...

The figure suddenly bowed, almost ever so slightly. "Greetings, heir of the Wild One..." A cryptic language, unlike any Seth had perceived before, echoed through the air.

But direct perception of Will dawned on him with full understanding.

’The Wild One?’ Seth wondered.

And while he remained mute, the entire crowd of trial participants froze the moment they heard Farad’s words.

Shocked beyond their marrow, everyone’s gaze was instantly directed towards Seth. The fact alone that an Ace bowed towards this unknown expert was enough to flag their attention.

But what made them tense and shocked the most was what the Ace called Seth.

The heir of the Wild One?!!!

Didn’t that mean the heir of the legendary Joker?!!!

Everyone glanced at each other, their shock vivid in their eyes. How many years had the trial for the Wildcard suit remained unconquered?

Today they arrived with about a hundred-plus peers, geniuses in their own right who came here to contest the trial despite the odds.

None of them ever imagined that today one among these trialists would pass.

Staring at Seth among the crowd, two alien figures stood side by side—a female and a male. These two were the very ones who engaged Seth the moment he arrived at Verdant Moon.

To think the clueless bumpkin they barely interacted with out of amusement suddenly became a big shot right before their eyes.

Who here didn’t understand the weight of the Wildcard? Even if they didn’t understand the inner secrets, most had a rough idea.

Among the many suits of the Behemoth faction House of Cards, the Joker’s suit was the undisputed number one of the faction.

Though this branch suit had long gone extinct, legends of this group still echoed through the annals of history.

Meanwhile, on Seth’s end, he could feel the Origin Gate establishing a connection already. Any time soon he should be whisked away.

But somehow that didn’t serve as assurance—not when these beings could kill him a million times over within this timeframe.

Still silent, he stared at Farad’s silhouette cautiously.

Honestly, Seth didn’t have a single clue that he had just cleared a legacy that had remained unconquerable for eons.

And with how fast he cleared the trial, he had zero reason to see his feats as a special accomplishment.

Especially when he was still lacking a comprehensive understanding of the power gap and system of the greater world.

Heck, he was just finding out what lay beyond Monarch grade, and barely understood what lay beyond the Awakened Rank.

With all these speedy thoughts running through his mind, Farad’s Will undulated, his voice echoing through the lunar orbit once more.

"Welcome to the House of Cards, heir of the Wild One. If it isn’t much of a pry, would you mind telling us what district you came from..."

’District?’ Seth’s brows furrowed, unable to understand what the figure meant.

Reading Seth’s confusion in a glance, the four Aces glanced at each other, the lizard man’s knuckles tightening.

Just this unknowing expression from Seth had given them enough grounds to deduce that Seth was from a new world, probably just connected to the Origin recently.

This realization caused myriad lights to flicker through the depths of their eyes as they stared at Seth, suddenly feeling less vigilant.

Seth being from a newly connected world meant two things for them. For one, subjugating a race of newly awakened evolvers—no matter how talented—was always easy.

Second, this meant the potential talent of this race and their world would be much higher than estimated.

These thoughts flashed through Farad’s mind, elevating his mood even further. If their faction played their cards right...

Not only would they integrate a newly talented race under their command, they would also get their hands on a high-value world.

His gaze carrying a strange light, he stared at Seth, alighting right before him, his hand still clasped behind his back, his Will thrummed.

"You just need to shake your head if you don’t know..." The soothing but alien voice echoed into Seth’s ears, the foreign vocabulary morphing into understandable context.

Seth remained stiffly still, not daring to move the slightest muscle. It was clear running was hopeless, attacking even more so.

The best he could do for now was drag things out until the Origin Gate was fully charged. Then he could get the fuck out of here.

One thing Seth hated most was lack of control—especially standing before such powerful figures that made every choice he made seem like it was permitted.

The stifling pressure mounted in his chest as he shook his head, finally responding to Farad’s words.

Seth blinked, glancing at the other three up in the air nervously.

"Relax, we aren’t going to harm you... In fact, we don’t dare." Farad spoke gently, taking a step forward as he scrutinized Seth’s figure from top to bottom.

His third eye flashed lights from the half-lidded crack on his forehead, washing Seth’s frame with a discerning gaze.

"Let me rephrase the question then... how did you get here?" Farad’s voice thrummed once more.

Arranging his thoughts, Seth quickly tried putting together a reply. "I got sent here by a shady trademaster from the trade center back in the Origin Realm..."

Farad nodded, as the other three drifted closer behind him, staring down at Seth.

Horak, the lizard man, spoke in a gruff deep voice cutting through the dark atmosphere, his jaws glinting sharp like ivory blades. "And what world are you from, boy?"

Cutting straight to the chase, Farad frowned, throwing a displeased glance from the corner of his eyes. He didn’t like this.

It was in their best interest to keep their intentions hidden and obscure from Seth.

Because the less Seth knew about what they wanted, the less he was sure of what to guard. If they could exploit that, they might be able to pry out a few things from Seth before the higher-ups showed themselves.

Seth frowned, meeting the humanoid lizard’s eyes for the briefest of seconds, perceiving a sharp familiar glint.

Frowning, Seth felt uncomfortable as he averted his gaze, his teeth clenching as a sudden aversion towards giving a reply washed over him.

A spark ignited in his mental space as he felt a tug through space. Finally!
