Seeing these details, how could Seth refuse?
His fists clenched as he accepted the assimilation—dark tendrils of veins bulging beneath his skin as, for the first time, Seth was assaulted with the alien experience of assimilating a Gene skill.
He could feel a cellular change as the biological imprint slowly branded itself into his Gene strands, joining the other four.
A new affinity branding into his essence he felt the chill of his will tapping from the trait.
With a new means in his pocket he wouldn’t have to worry about the last leg right?
Seth squinted his expression seriously as he pondered, ’surely there must be a reason why the ruler will be left for last.’
To understand this class—to clearly discern the hint he had to unravel—he first had to understand what the Oracle actually meant.
Because the Oracle didn’t speak English it was merely that its adept manipulation of will conveyed its meaning so smoothly humans saw things in their language.
But there were times when this rough translation couldn’t convey a meaning properly, by not being able to find the right words.
One could lift the System’s veil. The moment Seth did, the thin filter that made his sight visualise the words in English faded away.
What lay before his eyes was a series of characters—akin to hieroglyphs, each buzzing with so much will that Seth could somehow understand them more clearly:
And from the characters that formed the words The Ruler, the meaning conveyed a Kingdom—and an actual King.
It put the image of a Kingdom readied for war in his head, and the meaning sent chills racing down his spine.
Because the hero The Ruler never represented a basic class like the others—more like a special summoner class of sorts.
This meant to win the next round he would need numbers. But what sort of creature would be so powerful that the only way to stand a chance was to swarm it—overwhelm it with sheer numbers?
He glanced at the screen blinking at the corner, asking if he was ready to progress.
He let out a deep breath, calculating the weight of the decision, for one, his genetic battle suit was badly damaged, and with his lack of essence crystals the self-recovery function wouldn’t be able to do much.
He still had the royal grade legendary set, he could still use the darkness veil of his pet companion, plus he also had Xenon’s sphere, and finally there was ’that’ ring that would only be used as a last resort.
Taking into consideration all this he decided, letting this state run out wouldn’t be worth it, "Fuck it!" He hissed his finger punching the holographic button, yes.
His figure blinked, his sights blurring as lights warped and receded, and all in a blink everything cranked to a sudden stop.
The scene had changed—the plain giving way to a sandy desert, the lighting so dim that even the murky skies seemed to dim a shade darker.
The winds howled as a cloud of sand rose in the distance, followed by a quaking rumble—the desert groaning furiously as the storm cloud of sand drew nearer.
His essence blazed, his aura burning brighter. Licking his lips nervously, he chuckled, "At least I’m quite lucky—this should do."
From the dark shades of shadows the high Hills of sand cast out came billowing masses of darkness that slowly formed into a humanoid construct.
Seth’s essence fuelled the newly assimilated Gene skill for the first time—the integrated muscle memory that came with the gene kicking in, his essence channelling through specified nodes and bringing the Gene skill’s effects into actuality.
A total of a dozen figures formed in an instant, Seth wasting no time deciding to build familiarity to the gene skill while battling.
In that instant, aside from the drain of essence he felt powering the Gene skill, he also felt a piece of himself integrated into each clone.
They bore a subconsciousness formed from his own, capable of making choices for themselves based on his orders.
Meaning if he asked them to fight they could tap into his battle IQ and battle with the same intensity as the original himself.
In fact, if Seth wanted, he could take control of any of them at any time—and he could swap places and transfer damage between them.
This was a great skill through and through. Darkness billowed as the twelve dark figures fell into formation behind Seth, who remained perfectly still as the cloud of sand drew closer.
The wind howled with the intensity the sand storm encroaching promised, but Seth seeing through the cloak he could clearly see that this wasn’t any ordinary sand storm.
He could see the mass signature of an army trampling forward, for the first time Seth discerned the nature of his enemy before it even fully arrived.
[Warning! Immortal King: Legion has awakened!]
What Seth was seeing was an array of soldiers—each entity bearing the same energy signature, all moving in perfect sync, marching forward with a terrifying efficiency and precision.
Though his foe seemed many, it was singular—because this time, his foe, Immortal King Legion, was a hive mind.
A chill settled down his spine, as sweat trickled down his temples, Seth could already imagine the terrifying efficiency this hoard would have.
Because the most terrifying prospect of a hive mind was the fact that all the bodies it possessed processed information as one.
Meaning it could react accordingly, wielding its countless bodies with such synchronised, surgical coordination that it would leave its prey reeling.
And facing this terrifying foe Seth had...
He turned to glance at his twelve shadow clones. Letting out a cold, nervous chuckle, he muttered, "Not nearly enough, for sure."
