Chapter 210: Monarch grade Gene Skill Crystal
Seth felt his very being course with power, his veins burning bright beneath his skin as his mind snapped back into reality.
His eyes glowed a royal purple flare trimmed with bronze, his hair fluttered and what remained of his pants fluttered against his skin.
His joints popped as he rotated his arm joints, feeling warm currents spreading through his organs, each all being revitalised in an instant.
Seth’s malleable will flourished as the Gene skill Force Embodiment allowed it to bloom, adapting the core essence of the human race.
"Infinity..." the wind howled as the sheer intensity of his will bent the world to its will.
His willborne abilities flourished—Chronostasis and Dimensional Strider feeding off an unlimited source—their grasp over time and space growing iron firm.
His vision settled on the darkness around him as his will pulsed, igniting his eyes—his gleaming pupils flaring, burning into a sight that pierced beyond the physical and perceived the very currents of essence.
The world revealed to his eyes warped, and the physical manifestation of everything faded into nothing, leaving but a void arrayed with energy of all kinds.
The prophet... that was the key to clearing this trial, but as established before Seth didn’t have to gain a precognitive ability to win this round.
He just had to get something close enough. His will flared—and the reality of the energy currents settled before him, clear and vivid, each and every one.
Meaning the moment the immortal King made its move... Seth burst into motion in an instant, his speed making it seem like he teleported a current of annihilation condensing in his fists.
Shadows churned instantly consuming where Seth had just been, meaning if he didn’t move before it appeared he wouldn’t have had time to react.
But this same thing applied to the creature, after it struck it also lay vulnerable for a few seconds.
The wind whipped as Seth released his fists—currents of murky blue cranked and stacked against each other, pulses of black energy coating his knuckles.
The cluster of shadows might have seemed intangible—something that couldn’t be attacked.
But that was the true body of this immortal King. Seth’s will burned as the Asura Gene skills stacked, his fist flashing black light as it struck right at the energy core of the mass.
A shrill screech broke out, vibrating Seth’s eardrums and causing his ear to leak blood, as the dark shadowy mass writhed and churned in agony before melding into the surrounding darkness for cover.
The energy core was damaged heavily, barely able to hold its form together.
"Tsk, tsk, so fragile..." Seth mused, his eyes cutting through the darkness-cloaked surroundings. Unfortunately for the immortal King Verocrity, using the darkness as cover had no effect on a being not restrained to seeing through the physical lens alone.
Seth’s pupils traced the path of the whimpering mass as it struggled to piece its core back together.
Seth squinted, he now understood why this trial could be very dangerous to people who didn’t have the same versatility as him.
Immortal King Verocrity was a great example—a life form that had poured its all into attack. Its defence was so weak that one strike from Seth had nearly destroyed its core.
But if Seth hadn’t been able to perceive the world of energy and used this ability to replicate the role of a prophet he might not have been able to win.
If Seth didn’t see the attack before it came and made ample action how would he have caught it in its most fragile state?
His will dug into reality his body levitating from the ground, his figure catapulted into a blur the streak of bronze tearing through the absolute darkness.
Veracity never saw it coming, how would it have known that Seth was able to see beyond the darkness?
His fist tore through the core diffusing its mass into nothing, as the dark surroundings slowly got lit by the dim Grey formless sky.
[Congratulations! You have slain Awakened Rank divine remnant Veracity!]
[You grow stronger...]
[+104 Essence]
[+56 Vitality]
[+23 Defence]
[+92 speed]
The sharp chill of the stats settling rolled through his cells, a refreshing wave running down his being.
This is one due to the uniqueness of the situation, Seth took a little bit more time to clear this leg. ’78 seconds’ he thought "that’s not bad actually considering the circumstances." He mused silently.
His body a flame as the bronze cells burn at full power, Seth understood he was in a temporary state of Overheated Universal Adaptation.
Essentially the racial skill Universal Adaptation running on steroids—every breath he took expanded his lungs, making them denser and increasing their sponge-like structure to retain more oxygen.
His heart thrummed with a greater density and beat, as it grew larger and compact housing a thousand more vessels to increase the flow of oxygen and blood cells around his body.
Veins standing out like steel rails, his skin simmering with a faint bronze lustre—he couldn’t let this state go to waste.
Especially since he knew how difficult it would be to enter into it again, plus he still didn’t know much about this ruler class.
The only hint he couldn’t decipher, eyes flashing with resolve, a screen flickered in his sight, his finger twitching but before he ascended to the next stage...
His eyes locked onto a pulsing orb and his hand reached down. The moment his fingertip made contact, it popped.
Another screen flickered in the corner of his sight, the words making Seth flash a toothy grin.
[You have received a Monarch grade Gene skill crystal "Darkness Avatar"]
[Current gene skill slot, 4/8]
[Do you want to assimilate Gene Crystal? Y/N]
This was Seth’s first time gaining a monarch grade Gene skill Crystal as loot. It once again reminded him that the world outside earth was much greater.
Back on Earth, finding a proper Mid-Stage Awakened rank being was already a tough task—yet here he was in a random trial dungeon, of all places, bagging himself a Monarch-grade skill crystal.
