Chapter 206: Atrocious Glory

[Congratulations! You have slain the Awakened Rank divine Remnant Crocious!]

[You grow stronger....]

[108 Will]

[187 intelligence]

[41 essence]

[19 vitality]

Barely paying any attention to the chill of stats seeping into his being, Seth was already focused on something else.

The reflection of the sparkling yellow orb glimmered within his eyes, as he reached for his prize.

With a satisfying pop, the orb vanished, replaced by an influx of words detailing what he just acquired.

[Spectre-Flame Gaze Pendant!]

[Grade: Royal]

[Rank: Awakened]

[Abilities: Target Combustion, All-Seeing Radiance.]

Seth’s eyes narrowed, as he instantly summoned the item, while instantly dismissing the Executioners’ set, in order to get a good view of the materialised pendant.

A tiny replica of the Immortal King Seth just executed sat strung by a thin silver string barely undulating, and had no presence well that was to others.

But the item was equipped resting right underneath the skin of Seth’s collarbones, the passive of his Gene skill kicked in.

I see, the full details and limits of the item laid bare, Seth could already see situations they would turn up to be invaluable.

The ability target combustion was basically a slightly inferior replica of the ability the immortal King had been spamming since the moment it awakened.

It allowed Seth to project untraceable, colourless flames through space to combust any specific location within a 50-Meter radius.

Sneaky, powerful and long range, perfect! There was nothing Seth had on him that made this skill redundant, not even gene skills.

Then there was All-Seeing Radiance, granting him the ability to discern a person’s stats—and depending on the grade of his Gene skill, he might be able to discern even that.

As though it couldn’t get any better, it turned out the all-seeing light of Radiance was harmless—a feature that practically allowed it to go unnoticed.

After all, most beings—especially as they grew in power—became keenly alert to danger, while detecting something that posed no threat was another matter entirely.

They would have to be actively looking for it before it could be flagged.

It was kind of a forced biological evolution most life forms underwent the stronger they became.

With senses that perceived far beyond what a mortal mind could imagine, without this biological filter most beings wouldn’t be able to see or hear at all—drowned out by the overwhelming influx of information their sharpened senses would flood them with.

Satisfied with this gain he dismissed the item, wearing a faint smile.

He did feel a little regretful it wasn’t evolvable, but such was the way of things. After all, items with the evolvable trait were already quite rare.

[Congratulations! You have cleared the fourth of seven paths, You have shown the resilience and might of a knight!]

[Do you wish to proceed to the next Phase? Y/N]

He let the stats gained from both battles settle down for a few minutes, once more he was back to his peak.

Jumping to his feet, he punched the magic key, and his frame vanished once more—swallowed whole by space.

...

Within the massive spaceship above the Verdant Moon.

The spectating room stark silent, except the heavy sound of ragged breaths, everyones eyes remained glued to the screen.

Everyone so immersed in Seth performance they didn’t even bother to check the other class trial candidates.

And frankly speaking, as of this moment, they barely gave a fuck.

Even if this trial batch ended with Seth as the sole participant to clear the class trial, it would still be the greatest result they could ever hope to deliver.

Their eyes reflected Seth’s silhouette as he materialised into the fifth realm—the lair of the divine remnant, Immortal King Atrocious Glory.

Everyone was intimately familiar with the likes of Atrocious Glory—the demonic being meant to be slain by the Reaper—

Pupils constricted, 36 SECONDS!!!

Before most could even recover from the death of Crocious another Immortal King had been slain, just like that!

If facing Crocious determined one’s level of defence—hence why the Knight was its bane—then facing Atrocious Glory determined the raw intensity of one’s attack power.

What made Atrocious Glory fearsome was the irritating ability it possessed—one that allowed it to grow stronger by absorbing attacks, so long as those attacks weren’t critical or instant-kill.

Which was why this trials path was the reaper, by Earth’s standards one could interpret it as the Rogue or the assassin.

These classes excelled at landing critical hits and attacks with overwhelming damage output—the likes of which neither the Swordsman class nor even the Mage class could compare to.

On paper, he wasn’t supposed to have that much raw attack power—especially without a class—and his strengths in other paths were supposed to firmly underline that deficiency.

Yet why did they just watch this man pull off the impossible—one-shotting Atrocious Glory in a single devastating strike, before the remnant could even bare the true prowess that made it so fearsome.

The screen flickered, and with no drops to hunt, Seth wasted no time progressing to the next stage.

This time he met Verocrity—a divine remnant that was meant to be the trickiest of them all.

The Prophet was the remnant’s bane... and it wasn’t the light-elemental attacks a Prophet could wield, but rather the ability of controlled precognition.

This was a challenge they were so sure would put a brief halt to Seth’s rapid ascent. After all from what they could see so far there was nothing that Seth had in his means to overcome such a foe.

Plus beyond this trial leg would be the final and most brutal of all, the path of the Ruler.

A path Seth simply shouldn’t be able to overcome—it just shouldn’t be possible—as the requirements for victory flashed through their minds.

The last leg of the trial was known among them as the Tomb of Stars—stars representing the countless geniuses who had clawed their way to this stage only to meet failure and death.

So surely by all logic and rationality this should be Seth’s estimated stopping point... right?

So why did they all feel the unsettling gut tingle that something might just end up being different?

The silence thickened as they watched, breathless. Regardless of the outcome, they would be here to witness every last moment of it.
