Sect Leader Hector raised both hands.

The rift behind him groaned and expanded until it stretched twenty feet wide. The edges crackled with blue lightning that licked at the stone platform.

A wind rushed out from the opening, carrying the scent of wet earth and something ancient.

"This realm has existed since before the Azure Dragon Sect was founded," Hector said. "It is a fragment of a greater world. A training ground for the worthy."

He looked at each of them.

"You have one day outside. One hundred days inside. Use them wisely."

Flare cracked her neck and stepped forward. "Finally. Something interesting."

Seraphina followed without a word, her hand resting on her curved blade.

Lark walked toward the rift with measured steps. Alena Terra gripped her staff and moved beside him.

Ariel grabbed Damon’s hand. "We’ll be separated, won’t we?"

"Probably," Damon said.

"Then find me fast."

He squeezed her fingers. "I will."

Mio bounced on her heels. "This is going to be fun."

Mia stayed quiet, her purple eyes fixed on the swirling portal.

Hector gestured. "Enter."

Flare jumped through first. The rift swallowed her whole.

Seraphina walked in next. Then Lark. Then Alena.

Ariel kissed Damon quickly and stepped through.

Mio waved and followed. Mia vanished into the light.

Damon took a breath and walked forward.

His feet hit solid ground, but the impact drove him to one knee.

The air was thick. Every breath felt like drinking liquid stone.

The spiritual energy in this place was so dense it pressed against his skin, his lungs, his very bones.

Damon forced himself upright and looked around.

He stood in a valley surrounded by towering trees with bark the color of copper.

Their leaves shimmered with a faint silver light. The ground beneath him was covered in moss that glowed pale blue. In the distance, mountains rose with peaks that pierced clouds the color of jade.

A river cut through the valley, its water flowing with visible motes of golden energy.

He activated his Incubus Celestial Eyes.

The world exploded with color. Lines of spiritual energy ran through everything.

The trees pulsed with power. The ground radiated warmth. The air itself was a river of concentrated Qi.

His eyes tracked the flow and found something else.

The realm was vast. His vision stretched for miles, but he could not see the edges. He scanned for the others.

Ariel was nowhere in sight.

Neither were Mio or Mia.

He spotted a flash of white in the distance. Lark, maybe. But she was too far to reach quickly.

’We are scattered. Just like Sect Leader Hector said.’

Damon straightened and checked his storage ring.

Everything was there. The Chaos Devourer rested in his soul space, humming with anticipation.

He pulled it out.

The broken sword materialized in his hand. The moment it touched the air of this realm, the blade vibrated.

The two fragments glowed, and the space around them rippled.

’It likes this place.’

Damon smiled and stored the sword away.

Miles away, Ariel landed in a shallow lake.

The water was warm and glowing. She surfaced and gasped, her lungs burning from the dense air. The Trident materialized in her hand as she scanned the shoreline.

Nothing moved.

She climbed out and looked at the sky. It was a deep violet color, with two suns hanging at different angles.

’Where on earth could Damon be?’

Her thumb brushed against the intricate, cool surface of the communication ring on her finger.

A faint, shimmering pulse of translucent blue energy rippled outward as she sent a desperate probe into the void, hoping to tether her spiritual sense to his uniquely powerful aura.

"Damon? Are you there? Can you hear me?"

Her voice, usually melodic and calm, held a tremor of genuine anxiety that echoed across the surface of the glowing lake.

She waited, her vivid blue eyes searching the horizon for any sign of a flash of black or the resonance of his energy. But there was only silence—a heavy, suffocating stillness that seemed to swallow her words entirely.

She tried again, pouring more of her spiritual power into the artifact, but the connection remained severed, as if he were miles beyond the reach of the mortal plane or buried behind an impenetrable natural formation.

’The distance must be too immense,’ she thought, her brow furrowing in concentration as her grip tightened firmly around the shaft of her Trident.

’Or perhaps the very fabric of this realm is designed to suppress and block these signals.’

She forced her resolve to harden, tucking away her lingering fear.

With a graceful, purposeful stride, she began to navigate the shoreline, her petite figure casting a long, determined shadow against the violet-hued sand as she started her trek into the unknown.

Mio and Mia landed together.

They crashed through a canopy of silver leaves and hit the ground in a tangle of limbs. Mio groaned and pushed herself up.

"Ow."

Mia sat up and looked around. They were in a forest of crystal trees. The branches were made of translucent stone that refracted light into rainbows.

"At least we’re together," Mia said.

Mio grinned. "Now we just need to find Damon and Ariel."

She stood and brushed dirt off her robes.

"Which way?"

Mia pointed east. "That way. I feel something."

They moved.

She caught herself before she fell and looked down at the valley below. The realm stretched out before her, ancient and untamed.

She pulled the necklace from her collar and let her disguise fall.

Lumina Solaris stood on the mountain, her golden hair catching the light of the twin suns.

’One hundred days.’

She sat down and began to cultivate.

He stood and looked toward the mountains. Something pulsed there. A rhythm. A heartbeat.

Deep within his chest, the Chaos Devourer surged with an insatiable, vibrating hunger, its dark energy coalescing into a dense knot that tugged at his very soul.
