Chapter 167: Chapter 167: The Azure Dragon Realm [1]

Dawn arrived with a pale gold sky.

Damon stood at the mansion entrance, adjusting his black robes. Behind him, Ariel, Mio, and Mia filed out, their expressions sharp with focus.

Selene followed last, her icy aura contained but present.

"Are you all fully prepared for the challenges that lie ahead?"

Damon inquired, his golden eyes sweeping over his companions with a mixture of calculated authority and lingering affection.

His voice was steady, carried by the confidence of a man who held the threads of their fates.

"I am entirely prepared, Damon," Ariel replied, her vivid blue eyes sparkling with absolute devotion as she stood with graceful poise, her hand resting near the hilt of her legendary trident.

Mio let out a spirited, audible crack of her neck, her ponytail swaying with her energetic movement. "I’m itching for a real test; I want to see exactly what this realm has to offer us."

Mia offered a soft, knowing smile, her purple eyes reflecting a quiet, sharp intelligence. "The idea of hunting for hidden treasures certainly sounds like a delightful distraction."

Suddenly, Neko brushed past the threshold in her small white tiger form, letting out an adorable, high-pitched yawn as she stretched her lithe frame against the cool morning air. She gazed upward at him with pleading, silver-gray eyes.

"Master, will you allow me to accompany you this time?" she squeaked softly, her desire to follow him evident in her twitching tail.

Damon knelt briefly to stroke her velvety fur before sighing. "Not today, little one. You must stay here and remain under Selene’s protection."

Neko’s fluffy ears drooped in a display of visible disappointment, yet she bowed her head in obedience.

Selene stepped forward then, her presence radiating a chilling, glacial aura that stood in stark contrast to the dawn.

"I shall supervise the creature. Go now; do not wait."

Damon gave a resolute nod of acknowledgment to the sword master, then turned on his heel to lead his devoted harem down the winding, mist-covered mountain path.

The arena was empty when they arrived.

No crowd. No disciples. Only just the Top 8 disciples and the sect elders.

Flare stood near the eastern edge, her crimson robes billowing. She was a tall woman with flame-patterned sleeves and sharp brown eyes. Her cultivation is at Earth Spirit Realm Seventh Level.

Beside her, Seraphina adjusted her white robes. She had lime colored hair tied in a low ponytail and carried a curved blade on her hip.

Lark stood apart from everyone, arms crossed, gaze fixed on the stage.

Alena Terra stood near the western edge, her staff planted beside her. She glanced at Damon when he entered and offered a small nod.

Damon began to scan the two new people that will be together with him. Damon then use his Incubus Celestial Eyes and look at Flare and Seraphina.

Sect Leader Hector descended from the sky and landed on the stage.

He surveyed the group.

"Top 8. You’ve earned your place as representatives of the Azure Dragon Sect in the Eastern Continent Tournament."

A heavy, expectant silence weighed upon the arena, the air thick with the stifling pressure of eight of the sect’s most elite disciples.

No one dared to mutter a word, their collective gazes locked onto the imposing figure of the elder.

"But the coming tournament is not merely about individual martial prowess," Hector declared, his voice cutting through the stillness like tempered steel.

"It is about leadership. A team without a guiding hand is but a collection of blades prone to shattering under pressure."

He paused, letting the truth of his words settle before continuing with a sharp gaze.

"As it stands, you have no captain."

A ripple of low, uneasy murmurs threaded through the group, the disciples exchanging cautious looks of apprehension and budding ambition.

"The original plan was to let the final rounds dictate our leadership," Sect Leader Hector continued, his expression unreadable.

"However, I have decided on a different approach to test your worthiness."

Sect Leader Hector swept his hand outward with sudden force.

The space behind him groaned, then violently tore open, revealing a jagged, pulsating rift that shredded the fabric of the atmosphere.

The temperature plummeted, and a suffocating, ancient pressure rolled out from the yawning portal, carrying the heavy, intoxicating scent of primeval stone and raw, untamed spiritual energy.

"This," the elder announced, his silhouette framed by the swirling, iridescent chaos of the rift, "is the entrance to the Azure Dragon Realm."

Damon narrowed his eyes, his luminous golden irises tracking the flickering light of the gateway as his mind raced to calculate the strategic potential hidden within the swirling void.

"The realm operates on a different flow of time. One day outside equals one hundred days inside."

Ariel’s eyes widened.

"The spiritual energy inside is denser than anything you’ve experienced. You can cultivate there. You can hunt for treasures. You can explore."

Sect Leader Hector looked at each of them.

"The captain will be decided by two things: your improvement in cultivation, or the treasure you bring back. Whichever is more impressive."

Flare stepped forward. "And if we find nothing?"

"Then you’ll have wasted a day. But I doubt any of you will waste this opportunity."

Seraphina tilted her head. "How do we prove our improvement?"

"Elder Alder will measure your cultivation before and after entry. The one who advances the most, or brings back the most valuable treasure, will be named captain."
