In his hand was a double-edged sword. Its blade was straight, approximately 30 inches long.

The hilt was around 6 inches long—big enough to only be a one-handed weapon—and it was wrapped in a cord.

The crossguard was in the shape of an oval and was just big enough to protect its wielder’s hand.

The pommel was rounded, balancing the weight of the sword.

"A Jian. A sword created by the Eastern Kingdom, Moan, will fit you, for now, I believe. I could also be entirely wrong." Corran stated, stroking the flat side of the sword’s blade before passing it over to Lillian.

Lillian’s mouth widened and shaped itself into an ’O’ as she took the Jian into her hand, brandishing it.

It was lighter than the sword she used in the exam. It was heavier than the rapier that she used in the Trial.

It felt a bit odd in her hands. But she was sure that would change once she started using it. Not everything will feel right at the beginning, after all.

Lillian thanked the Dwarf.

Corran nodded before gesturing for her to move out of the way for Millis.

Soon enough, everyone had their weapons.

Millis, however, switched to a sword instead at the last second.

"Oh? What made you decide to switch, Millis?" Lillian smirked, staring as Millis stared at her with a suspicious look.

"Was Marionette’s theory about this being just physical true?"

Lillian turned her face away from Millis, giggling to herself.

"Perhaps~..."

She then looked towards Marionette and found her to be staring into the blade of a common sword. This surprised Lillian a bit.

Before she could think of walking over towards Marionette to strike up a conversation with her...

"Here are the rules! Seek out an opponent and have them accept your challenge for a duel. Win by either disarming or having them surrender. That’s about it! Oh! And the use of Elements and Traits is prohibited in this one. We’ll be focusing on your physical capabilities first."

Once Corran finished everyone in the Colosseum began to shift around. It seemed everyone was quite eager to test their skills against others once again.

Clang...! Clang...! Clang...!

Lillian listened to the sounds of their sparing before looking towards Marionette to find her walking over to her.

’Hm? Is she going to ask me to spar?’

It would seem like it but suddenly...

"Would you like to spar, Miss Arius?"

Lillian looked to her side and saw a green-haired man, bowing towards her respectfully.

He stared up at her with his emerald green eyes.

"For I would be ecstatic at fighting against you, once more."

Lillian stared down at him and realised, who he was instantly.

Killean Cran Markslon—one of the nobles she fought in the exam, specifically inside the forest.

In the game, he was shown to be quite the gentleman—the type that would for example volunteer to walk ladies home everytime when it’s night.

But there was another detail she remembered about him. It was that he was... quite the masochist.

Lillian’s lips curled wryly as she glanced at Marionette to find her staring at them before turning away and going to look for someone else to spar with.

She sighed and looked towards the green-haired nobleman and nodded, "Very well... would you like to spar here or look for a slightly more empty space?"

He straightened his back and sorted out his blazer by patting it down and pulling on it, before glancing around.

Around them was quite populated with people from their class.

"Perhaps it would be better for us to space out from our fellow colleagues. Would you like to lead the way?"

"H-huh? Oh ehh... sure..."

Lillian nodded. She was half-expecting for him to decide, which spot they would spar. But this was fine too.

After wandering over to a more empty spot, they got into a stance with a few metre gaps between them.

Killean tilted his rapier at her—his chest facing the side and his left arm behind his back.

Any person uncultured in his stance would assume he was mocking their strength and skill due to a well-known quote, "I can do this with one arm behind my back."

Lillian too got into stance. She raised her Jian over her head and placed her right foot slightly further forward.

Killean then asked:

"When would you like to begin, Miss Arius?"

Lillian shrugged.

"Eh... whenever you want really."

Killean nodded and then said:

"I shall be starting my attacks now then!" he yelled, switching stance.

Lillian stared at him weirdly as he approached her position. Did he really have to shout out that he was coming?

She watched as his rapier stabbed her.

She twisted her wrist and swung her Jian at it, smacking it to the side.

CLANG!

She then pushed forward and scraped the edge of her blade against his rapier and towards his throat.

SkKKR...!

Killean leaned his entire upper body back, avoiding the swift swipe before rising again and slashing towards her.

Lillian ducked, crouching before cocking back her arm and lunging towards him like a coiled snake.

She then rolled to the side, narrowly dodging a kick to her face.

After getting back up, she was soon met with Killean’s charge.

DING!

Their weapons collided with one another. The pressure she felt from his rapier lessened as she watched him pull it back and slash at her again.

She narrowed her eyes, swiping at the rapier with her sword—

CLANG!

—before turning on her heel and side-kicking him in the stomach.

Lillian watched as his body flung back a bit before landing on the ground with a thud.

She stared at what she did with shock. She was so in the zone that she didn’t even consciously kick him.

’I guess those little sessions with Marionette helped quite a bit...’

She stared down at the man clutching his stomach with a somewhat apologetic look.

Just as she was about to apologise and help him up...

"Hehehe..."

She heard a slight giggle from him.
