Chapter 426: Chapter 426: I Will Never Leave Alone
"Wind."
Wind gusted beneath Qiao Xixi’s feet, lifting her high enough to see the claw marks on the wall clearly.
She stretched out a shocked hand, holding it up against a claw mark for comparison. ’This claw has to be ten times the size of my hand.’ She worried, ’Against beast guards like this, how many injuries must Jin Ling and the others have suffered!’
"Are these claw marks the key to opening the stone door?"
"That’s right, Host. If you press your hand on it with a certain amount of force, you can push the stone door open."
’A claw that big... How many of me would it take to produce that kind of force?’
But Qiao Xixi didn’t lose heart. She descended back to the ground and rummaged through her dimensional space, looking for a suitable tool.
"Can a Bubble Fruit blow it open?"
"Host, if you blow it up, wouldn’t your father suffer inside too?"
"True."
Qiao Xixi continued searching and found a ball of dough.
It was something she had kneaded out of boredom while waiting for Jin Ling and the others by the Heavenly Pool these past two days. She had actually wanted to make some grilled flatbread, but after eating so much fish and beast meat, she never got around to it and just stored the prepared dough back in her space.
"Host, what are you taking the dough out for?"
Qiao Xixi worked the dough, then flew back up to the door and molded the large lump into the shape of a tiger’s claw.
"I’m matching the impression."
"What if the mechanism requires a matching shape? Otherwise, why would they make it look like this for no reason? They could have just made it a circle or a square."
"Er... that actually seems to make a lot of sense!"
After shaping the dough into a tiger claw, Qiao Xixi pressed the entire thing against the stone door.
"Host, what are you going to do next..."
"Wind."
"Strike."
BANG!
A powerful gust of wind swept past, striking the dough hard. The stone door trembled violently.
Inside the stone door, Qiao Yi, who was lying on the ground, heard the commotion outside and frowned, slowly sitting up.
BANG!
BANG!
The heavy blows were relentless, completely unlike usual.
Qiao Yi moved, and the stone chains on his hands and feet rattled.
"Who is it?"
BANG!
Another heavy blow landed.
"Father, are you in there? Father!"
Qiao Yi’s pupils shrank abruptly as he stared at the stone door in disbelief.
"Xixi..."
"Father, Father!"
Qiao Xixi tried again and again, but the stone door before her remained motionless.
"Damn it, just how much force did those beast guards use?! Wind, strike!"
BOOM!
A dull, massive thud.
Qiao Xixi stopped what she was doing in shock. The solid stone door before her suddenly stirred, slowly sliding open.
As the stone door moved, a face covered in scars was illuminated by the blood-red moonlight.
Qiao Xixi’s hands trembled uncontrollably. "Father." She flew forward and hugged Qiao Yi tightly.
The shock in Qiao Yi’s eyes lingered. He wrapped his trembling arms around Qiao Xixi.
"Xixi, it’s really you."
Qiao Xixi sniffled. "It’s me, Father. I’m here to save you. Quick, let’s leave and meet up with Jin Ling and the others."
Qiao Yi’s expression flickered, but his brow quickly furrowed. "They came too."
Qiao Xixi nodded. "Yes, they’re holding off those beast guards downstairs. Let’s go, quickly."
Qiao Xixi glanced down and saw the stone chains on Qiao Yi’s hands and feet. Just as she was wondering how to break them for her father, she heard Qiao Yi say, "Xixi, step back."
Qiao Xixi didn’t waste words, obediently taking a few steps back.
Qiao Yi raised his right hand and slammed it violently against the thick stone wall.
With a loud RUMBLE, the chain on his hand snapped.
Below the spire of the tower, Lei Lie sent the lunging Feiyan flying with a palm strike, then looked up toward the top of the tower.
"There’s movement up there."
Feiyan’s body was sent flying. Just as he was about to crash into a huge boulder, a wisp of black fog shot forward and wrapped around him, allowing him to land safely on the ground.
Feiyan landed steadily, coughed up a mouthful of blood, and staggered as he tried to get up.
"Feiyan, are you alright?"
The black fog transformed into Sangze. He looked at Feiyan with eyes full of worry.
Feiyan wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and tried to stand again, but collapsed to his knees the moment he moved.
"I’m... not dead yet."
"Something’s wrong at the Watchtower! Yun Qiong, go check it out," Lei Lie shouted up at Yun Qiong.
Yun Qiong’s sharp claws were still flecked with flesh and blood torn from Sunxiao. Hearing the order, he looked at Lei Lie and, without a moment’s hesitation, turned to shoot into the sky. But just as he was about to take flight, Sunxiao’s massive snake tail coiled around his talons.
Yun Qiong flapped his wings, trying to shake him off, but Sunxiao used the opportunity to wrap around his entire body.
"You... why are you just as annoying as Sunxuan!"
The lava in Chi Yan’s palm had not yet completely dissipated. He narrowed his eyes as he looked at Jin Ling, whom he had struck to the ground. Several new scratch marks adorned his own arm.
"It’s rare for the Golden Tiger Clan to produce someone like you."
Jin Ling lifted his face, his gilded-gold tiger eyes dark and sunken.
"Chi Yan, you go." Seeing that Yun Qiong was tied up and worried about the situation with Qiao Yi, Lei Lie could only turn and speak to Chi Yan.
Chi Yan glanced at Jin Ling, then slowly raised his claw to stab at his heart.
Just as the tiger claw was about to strike Jin Ling, Chi Yan’s hand suddenly froze in mid-air, his pupils shrinking abruptly.
A powerful electric current suddenly burst from Jin Ling’s body, violently knocking Chi Yan away.
He climbed up from the ground. "Head to the top of the Watchtower. Xixi is most likely there."
Jin Ling let out a tiger’s roar, charged at the thick stone wall, and used his powerful leap to jump to the top.
Sunxiao was no longer trying to drag Yun Qiong down. Instead, he clung to him, letting Yun Qiong carry him upward toward the tower’s peak.
At the top of the tower, Qiao Yi walked out of the prison cell.
The moment he saw the blood moon, his face changed.
"It’s the blood moon."
"Father, we need to leave this place, quickly."
Qiao Xixi didn’t notice the change in Qiao Yi’s expression.
But Qiao Yi didn’t move.
Qiao Xixi turned back in confusion and met Qiao Yi’s somber gaze. "Father, what’s wrong?"
"Xixi, I can’t leave yet. I’ll take you to find Jin Ling and the others. Have them take you out of this forest, away from Beast King City, as far away as possible!"
"What?"
After speaking, Qiao Yi scooped up Qiao Xixi and leaped cleanly from the top of the Watchtower.
Qiao Xixi clung tightly to Qiao Yi. "No, Father! I came to save you! I will never leave alone."
Before their feet had even landed firmly on the ground, they felt a series of huge tremors coming from beneath them.
Qiao Yi’s expression grew even graver.
The faces of the arriving Chi Yan, Lei Lie, and their group also turned extremely grim.
"Where is Sunxuan? Why haven’t we heard anything from him? Forget about what’s up there for now, head down."
Jin Ling and the others also noticed this change, but they only cared about Qiao Xixi.
Coiled around Yun Qiong, Sunxiao saw Qiao Yi carrying Qiao Xixi from a distance.
’Xixi rescued her father!’
The moment Qiao Yi’s feet touched the ground, he saw Jin Ling rushing over. He gritted his teeth and said in a low voice, "Xixi, listen to me. Go with Jin Ling and the others now. Quickly!"
As his voice fell, he abruptly pushed Qiao Xixi toward the approaching Jin Ling.
"Father!"
