Chapter 425: Chapter 425: This Is the Place
The moment Lei Lie appeared, Jin Ling and the others immediately assumed an attack stance.
Lei Lie glared, his bull-like eyes radiating immense pressure. "Who are you?"
Before he could finish, Sangze had already transformed into a black mist and lunged forward. "You talk too much."
As Sangze moved, Feiyan and Jin Ling charged in behind him.
Lei Lie snorted, and Qiao Xixi felt the ground tremble beneath her feet.
Lei Lie bellowed, "You don’t know your own limits."
Sunxiao stood to the side, protecting Qiao Xixi. But Xixi wasn’t just standing by; her attention was fixed on the battle, searching for an opening to help.
Before she could find an opportunity, a massive shadow fell over them.
Before Qiao Xixi could react, Sunxiao whisked her behind a large stone statue.
"Sunxiao, watch out!"
The huge figure in the sky dove at Sunxiao, and Qiao Xixi cried out in alarm.
Just as the sharp claws were about to sink into Sunxiao, the attacker suddenly seemed to lose control, lunging past Sunxiao and nearly tripping.
Qiao Xixi was speechless.
Yun Qiong regained his footing. An unnatural expression flashed across his face, but he quickly recovered and launched his attack on Sunxiao.
Sunxiao spun around, shifting into his beast form.
"HISS!"
The World-Devouring Python opened its massive, blood-red maw and lunged at Yun Qiong.
Yun Qiong froze when he saw Sunxiao’s beast form. But even in his stupor, he dodged effortlessly, and Sunxiao’s attack hit nothing but air.
"A World-Devouring Python..."
Sunxiao whipped his long tail at Yun Qiong.
Hiding behind the large rock, Qiao Xixi stared at the two Beast Guards. ’These are the ones who took my father.’
"Little Imp, do these Beast Guards have any weaknesses?"
"None, Host."
Qiao Xixi was at a loss for words.
"Then can they be killed?"
"Yes, Host, but... it would be on hell difficulty."
’Then we can’t afford a prolonged fight. There are five Beast Guards in total. Two are here, and one is underwater.’
’That leaves two unaccounted for.’
"What two people?"
"That there are two more Beast Guards..."
Qiao Xixi froze. She felt a powerful aura behind her. Feigning composure, she stood up and slowly turned her head.
She looked up and met Chi Yan’s orange-red eyes. He stood behind her, looming like a mountain...
Noticing the situation, Jin Ling let out a tiger’s roar and dashed toward Qiao Xixi.
"Xixi, watch out!"
Qiao Xixi’s hands formed a seal, and she turned to run.
"Water."
As Chi Yan started to give chase, a torrent of rain-like arrows flew at him.
However, an attack that would have been lethal to other beastmen was effortlessly blocked by Chi Yan. He simply held out his hands, and a wave of power instantly evaporated all the arrows.
A wave of heat, like molten lava, washed over Qiao Xixi.
Qiao Xixi’s pupils contracted. Just as she was about to form another hand seal, she was suddenly lifted by the scruff of her neck.
"Hey!"
Startled, Qiao Xixi turned her head and met Yun Ji’s phoenix eyes.
"Yun Ji."
"Hold on tight."
Qiao Xixi felt like she was being choked. Gritting her teeth, she reached up and grabbed onto Yun Ji’s talons.
She glanced down and saw that Jin Ling was already fighting Chi Yan.
Recalling Chi Yan’s immense power, she asked anxiously, "Yun Ji, can Jin Ling and the others handle these Beast Guards?"
Yun Ji didn’t hesitate for a second. "No. But they can buy you time. I’m taking you to your father now."
Qiao Xixi’s lips tightened, her gaze hardening with resolve. "Okay. Do you know where my father is being held?"
"I do."
The moment Yun Ji flew away with Qiao Xixi, Chi Yan’s orange-red pupils narrowed.
’The Holy Priest... Why is he with them?’
Before he could figure it out, Jin Ling’s tiger claws swiped at him.
Chi Yan’s eyes shifted, and with a flash, he easily dodged Jin Ling’s attack.
Yun Ji carried Qiao Xixi high into the sky. Looking down, she could clearly see the Watchtower shrouded in darkness.
"Do you see that highest point in the center?"
"The very highest point?"
"Yes. Your father is imprisoned at the very top. I can only drop you off at the highest point. You’ll have to figure out how to rescue him on your own."
"What about you?"
Qiao Xixi couldn’t see the look on Yun Ji’s face, nor the flash of grim resolve in his eyes.
"There’s a Beast Guard on duty there, too. I’ll lure him away for you. You need to act fast."
"Okay."
Yun Ji beat his wings, flying toward the highest point of the tower.
From a distance, she had thought the spire was small, but as they got closer, she saw it was quite wide—at least a thousand square feet.
Yun Ji set Qiao Xixi down safely.
"Go."
Qiao Xixi looked at Yun Ji gratefully. "Thank you. Once I rescue my father, I will fulfill my promise to you."
Yun Ji’s pale eyes gazed at her deeply for a moment.
"Okay."
Qiao Xixi nodded. As she turned to leave, she suddenly heard Yun Ji’s voice carried on the night wind.
"Xixi, the rest is up to you."
The wind was too strong, and she couldn’t hear him clearly. When she turned back, Yun Ji was already diving down the side of the tower.
The moment Yun Ji’s aura swept past, a massive figure in the darkness stirred.
Its crimson, reptilian pupils became vertical slits, and its enormous body was slowly revealed beneath the blood moon.
Yun Ji stopped in the moonlight. The crimson moon cast a red glow upon his snow-white feathered robes, making them look as if they were stained with blood.
The massive snake head slowly rose until it was almost level with Yun Ji.
Upon seeing Yun Ji, the cold, reptilian eyes showed a flicker of surprise.
"Holy Priest."
"Sunxuan."
The massive snake flashed and transformed into a dark figure. His long, crimson hair seemed to melt into the blood-red night sky.
"What brings the Holy Priest here?"
Yun Ji’s pale eyes shifted toward the blood moon in the sky. "I have found her. My mission is complete. I will use the last of my beast soul’s energy to seal the energy eye of the Dark Origin Stone."
The hard lines of Sunxuan’s face gradually softened. He glanced toward the top of the tower.
"You found Qiao Yi’s daughter."
Yun Ji nodded. "Take me there. Any later and it will be too late. The Dark Origin Stone’s power is at its peak during this blood moon. The monster that you and Qiao Yi have suppressed below has absorbed even more dark energy. It will surely break free from its restraints and escape."
Sunxuan’s reptilian eyes snapped into vertical slits. He dissolved into a black mist, and his figure quickly vanished into the darkness.
The night wind carried his cool, deep voice. "Follow me."
Qiao Xixi had no idea what was happening below. Following the route Little Imp had given her, she leaped down to a platform below the spire.
"Little Imp, you said my father was here, but I don’t see him. There are walls on all four sides. Where is he?"
"Host, just keep moving forward. My sensors indicate he’s very close."
Qiao Xixi followed Little Imp’s instructions, moving forward until she quickly hit a dead end. To make matters worse, the large stones here were incredibly heavy; she couldn’t move them even if she tried.
"This is a dead end."
"No, Host. This is the place. It’s highly likely your father is behind this stone wall."
Qiao Xixi looked up and saw five claw marks etched into the wall.
