Chapter 1448: Over

King Garrie was overwhelmed by countless emotions. His hatred toward this being had grown so immense that he could no longer stop himself. Again and again he drove his sword into the Void Architect’s body. Those every stab carried a hundred times grief, fury, and loss.

Flesh tore apart beneath the relentless assault until the Void Architect’s body became a grotesque mass of blood and mangled wounds. Yet the Void Architect no longer possessed the strength to resist.

He could do nothing except endure every strike while screaming in agony. His cries echoed endlessly, carrying unbearable pain that seemed to shake the air.

Anyone who heard those screams would have believed some unimaginable monster was being tortured. Hundreds of meters away, the gathered knights and mages instinctively covered their ears as grimaces spread across their faces.

It was not merely the volume that disturbed them. The screams carried something deeply unnatural. They clawed at the mind and heart, filling every listener with unbearable unease.

Against their own will, many of them felt pity stirring inside them, even though they knew the one screaming was the greatest enemy their kingdom and world had ever faced.

The contradiction made several of them grit their teeth and force themselves to remember the countless innocent lives that creature had taken.

Several minutes passed before the screams finally began to fade. They did not stop all at once. Instead, that cry grew weaker than the last until the Void Architect no longer possessed enough strength to continue. At last, silence descended over the battlefield, broken only by the sound of King Garrie’s heavy breathing.

Only then did King Garrie slowly regain his senses. He lowered his gaze toward the body beneath him.

The Void Architect was covered in countless stab wounds. Blood soaked the ground beneath him, ruined flesh barely held together what remained of his body.

Torn muscles and shattered bones protruded from the mangled wounds, and several of his organs had been ripped apart beyond recognition. There was almost nothing left that resembled the terrifying being who had threatened the kingdom only moments ago.

The sight made the king pause. A flicker of shock crossed his face.

But he felt no sympathy. He would never pity a creature as dangerous as this.

King Garrie looked at the Void Architect’s face. It had become deathly pale. His crimson eyes remained wide open while his mouth still hung open from the screams that had already disappeared.

Inside the king’s heart, only hatred remained. Pure, deep, unyielding hatred.

"Do you have anything to say now?" King Garrie asked coldly.

The Void Architect slowly moved his eyes toward him.

What King Garrie saw was an emotion he had never expected to witness from such a terrifying creature. It was despair and fear.

The sight brought a smile to the king’s face. Finally he felt something close to satisfaction.

The faces of the people who had died during the Void Architect’s invasion flashed through his mind. Men, women, and children who had once lived peacefully within his kingdom seemed to stand beside him once again. They smiled quietly as they looked upon the broken state of the one responsible for all their suffering and death.

Their silent presence filled King Garrie’s heart with warmth amid the sea of hatred consuming him.

It made him happy. After witnessing so much death and despair, he could finally see those same emotions reflected within the being who had caused them all.

"Are you afraid?" King Garrie asked, his grin widening. "Have you ever feared death?"

The Void Architect gave no reply. His battered body merely trembled weakly.

"This is what it means to be mortal," King Garrie said. "Now you’ll experience it yourself. After all the pain you’ve inflicted upon others... you’ll suffer that same pain!"

He drove his sword into one of the few remaining patches of intact flesh.

"No amount of wounds I inflict upon you will ever be enough for what you’ve done. I hope you don’t die. I hope you revive somewhere else so that one day we’ll meet again. So I can kill you again."

His eyes blazed with hatred. King Garrie continued stabbing him without mercy.

Again, and again, and again.

Finally, he drove the blade into the Void Architect’s face over and over until nothing recognizable remained.

When he finally stopped, the Void Architect no longer resembled a living being. Only a mangled mound of torn flesh lay motionless upon the blood-soaked ground.

Throughout all of it, the Void Architect was still alive. He felt every stab and every wave of agony tearing through his body, yet he could do nothing except endure it.

The strength that had once allowed him to dominate worlds had abandoned him. His rage gradually faded, replaced by fear and despair. The connection to his true body had already been severed. Now, if this avatar died, the fragment of his soul residing within it would perish as well.

If that happened, he would no longer remain a complete cosmic being. Everything he had spent ages becoming would be lost.

The realization filled him with a terror greater than any pain King Garrie could inflict.

King Garrie knew none of this. And even if he had known, he would not have cared. He continued driving his sword into the Void Architect’s ruined body again and again without mercy.

Eventually, the final fragment of life left the Void Architect. His body became completely still.

The shattered piece of his soul dissolved into countless particles of light before drifting silently into King Garrie’s body. The soul fragment merged with the king’s own soul, granting him a power he had yet to realize he possessed.

King Garrie remained completely unaware of it.

After making certain that the Void Architect was truly dead, the king finally allowed the exhaustion he had been suppressing to overwhelm him.

The sword slipped from his grasp. His legs gave way beneath him.

King Garrie dropped onto both knees, his battered body refusing to move any longer.

"It is over," the Creation said gently inside his mind. "Thank you, King."

The moment those words reached him, the last of King Garrie’s strength disappeared. Darkness overtook his vision. He lost consciousness.
