Chapter 1449: Relieved
When King Garrie finally collapsed beside the Void Architect’s lifeless body and lost consciousness, the knights and mages who had been standing several hundred meters away looked at one another in uncertainty.
"What do we do now?" one of the younger knights asked.
"Is His Majesty... alive?" another one of them whispered, unable to hide the fear in his voice.
The group remained where they were for a few moments, their eyes fixed on the motionless king.
"We don’t know if that oath is still in effect," one of the senior mages said cautiously. "If we enter the battlefield too soon something might happen."
"But if the king is dying, are we just supposed to stand here?" another knight snapped.
Everyone was silent now. They all wanted to rush forward but none of them wished to risk violating whatever remained of the mysterious oath.
Finally, the veteran knight stepped forward. "I don’t care anymore. If there’s even a chance His Majesty is still alive, then I’m going."
Everyone turned toward him.
"What if the oath hasn’t disappeared?" one of the mages asked.
"Then I’ll bear the consequences." He said. His voice remained firm. "I swore my life to protect the king. I won’t abandon him now."
Without another word, the veteran knight began running toward the battlefield.
The others exchanged uncertain glances.
"We’re coming too."
The mages and knights quickly followed behind him.
No one wanted to leave their king alone.
—
The group advanced carefully to the shattered battlefield with their steps filled with caution.
They expected something to happen the moment they crossed the invisible boundary where the battle had taken place. Many instinctively tightened their grip on their weapons and several mages quietly prepared defensive spells in case the remaining Magic retaliated against them.
But nothing happened. So they continued walking
And still nothing. The oppressive pressure that had dominated the battlefield moments earlier had completely vanished.
"The Magic is gone," one of the mages muttered in relief.
The others slowly relaxed, but they remained alert as they approached the center of the battlefield.
The destruction surrounding them became even more horrifying up close.
The ground had been ripped apart into enormous craters. Deep cracks stretched in every direction. Scorched earth and stones covered the landscape.
The lingering traces of powerful Magic still floated in the air, making the battlefield feel unnaturally silent.
Then they saw King Garrie lay motionless on the blackened ground. Beside him rested what barely resembled a body anymore.
The creature’s head had been reduced to an unrecognizable mass of flesh. Its entire body was riddled with countless stab wounds, torn apart so completely that almost no intact flesh remained. Blood covered the surrounding ground, shattered bones and mangled flesh protruded from the ruined corpse.
Several knights instinctively looked away. One of the younger mages turned pale.
"Is... is that really the Void Architect?" the younger mage asked quietly.
"It has to be," the veteran knight answered.
A deep sense of relief spread through everyone. The monster was finally dead.
Without wasting another moment, they hurried toward King Garrie.
The veteran knight immediately knelt beside him. "Your Majesty..."
King Garrie’s breathing was shallow but steady.
His body was covered in countless injuries. Deep cuts covered his arms, chest, and legs. His once magnificent armor had been cracked and broken in several places, revealing blood-soaked clothing beneath. His face had become frighteningly pale, and dried blood stained the corner of his mouth.
Even unconscious, he looked utterly exhausted.
One of the healers quickly placed both hands above the king’s chest.
"He’s alive," the mage said after a few moments, letting out a relieved breath. "His condition is critical, but he’s alive."
A collective sigh escaped the group. Several knights lowered their heads, silently thanking fate that their king had survived.
"We need to move him immediately," one of the mages said. "He has lost too much blood and who knows what other injuries he had. We can stabilize him here, but he needs proper treatment."
The veteran knight nodded.
"Let’s bring His Majesty back to the palace."
The others immediately agreed.
"Carefully. Don’t aggravate his wounds," the mage said.
"I’ll prepare healing Magic along the way," another mage said.
The knights gently lifted King Garrie from the ruined ground while the mages continuously channeled healing Magic into his battered body.
Together, they carried their unconscious king toward the palace, leaving behind the blood-soaked battlefield.

The underground chamber finally became peaceful. The violent torrents of Magic that had filled the chamber moments earlier gradually settled into calm streams of radiant light. The tremors disappeared, leaving behind only a quiet hum that echoed gently through the hall.
At the center of the chamber floated the Sky Anchor. She had finally become whole.
Her form had transformed into a massive white crystal shaped like a perfect pentagon, suspended several meters above the ground.
Countless ancient runes slowly revolved around her brilliant surface and white Magic flowed from every facet. The crystal illuminated every corner of the chamber with a warm radiance that drove away every trace of darkness.
A serene and benevolent aura spread continuously from it, embracing the surrounding space with a sense of peace unlike anything the Archmages had ever experienced.
The corrupted Magic that had lingered within the chamber for so long simply vanished upon touching that light.
The Sky Anchor had truly awakened.
Around the crystal, the five Archmages finally allowed themselves to collapse onto the stone floor.
Their exhausted bodies refused to remain standing any longer.
Every one of them breathed heavily as sweat soaked their robes. Their Magic reserves had been completely emptied, leaving them physically and mentally drained. Yet despite their exhaustion, smiles spread across their faces.
Their eyes shone with overwhelming relief and happiness. Because they had succeeded.
"Finally..." Archmage Lisara said weakly between heavy breaths. "With this... the corrupted Magic surrounding this kingdom... and eventually this entire world... will begin to be purified."
Archmage Morvain laughed tiredly before letting his head rest against the cold stone floor. He said, "This is the greatest project we’ve ever undertaken. I feel like even my soul has been burned away by this effort. Damn... I’m exhausted."
The others quietly nodded. They all felt exactly the same. Relief and happiness. And also satisfaction beyond words.
How many times had they accepted responsibilities where the fate of the world rested entirely upon their shoulders? How many impossible projects had demanded absolute trust and perfect cooperation between all five of them? Very few.
But this one surpassed them all. Together, they had restored the very foundation that sustained their world.
The thought alone filled every one of them with an indescribable sense of accomplishment.
"Thank you... all five of you. I have finally recovered."
A gentle feminine voice suddenly echoed inside their minds.
