Chapter 1442: Finishing Process

King Garrie disengaged from the Void Architect without hesitation. Right now, he knew he had to create some distance between them. Something about this being had changed again.

King Garrie had long since learned to trust the instincts forged through countless battles. Amid the deafening chaos of combat, the mind could not always be relied upon. It often thought too slowly to make decisions in the brief moments that separated life from death.

But instinct had been carved deeply into his body and soul after decades of surviving battlefields. It recognized danger before any logical explanation could explain it and forced difficult decisions within fractions of a second.

During the exchange that had just ended, everything had happened too quickly for the king to understand exactly what the Void Architect had done.

But he refused to take unnecessary risks. The moment he sensed something was wrong, he immediately retreated.

The Void Architect’s body was now shrouded in even thicker crimson mist. It swirled around him like living smoke, denser and far more violent than before.

Even from a distance, King Garrie could feel the oppressive aura radiating from it. A strange smell drifted through the battlefield, carrying the scent of something burning despite the absence of ordinary flames. The change had happened so suddenly that the king became certain the crimson mist was responsible for it.

At that moment, King Garrie felt his own body weaken even further.

His control slipped.

The body that had continued fighting despite its wounds, exhaustion, and poison could no longer pretend to remain strong.

His knees buckled.

King Garrie dropped onto one knee and planted his sword into the ground, using it to support his weight while breathing heavily.

"Hahaha..." the Void Architect laughed. "You pretended to be strong, but your condition isn’t much different from mine."

King Garrie said nothing. He simply remained kneeling while tightening his grip around the sword’s hilt.

A few hundred meters away from the battlefield, the gathered knights and mages watched their king with growing worry and fear spreading through every one of them.

If the king failed... Then the kingdom would fail as well.

"We have to do something!" one of the knights said with a solemn expression. His patience had nearly run out, and part of him wanted to charge into the battle despite the consequences.

"We can’t," one of the mages answered. Although his voice remained calm, everyone could hear the tension beneath it. "The king already made an oath with that being. If we interfere, we’ll violate the oath."

"Look at that!" the knight shouted, pointing toward the battlefield. "His Majesty is badly wounded!"

"You think none of us can see that?" the mage snapped back, his composure finally breaking. "Listen. We’re all worried about the king. But right now there’s nothing we can do. Let’s trust him. He’ll win."

The knight finally took a long breath. He slowly let his frustration fade into the cold air.

Looking toward the kneeling king, he quietly whispered,

"I hope the king wins... and comes back to us."

His hope resonated silently with everyone standing there.

No one spoke after that. They simply watched and prayed.

At last, the Sky Anchor had completely fused together. The five Archmages felt the change immediately. They felt relief in their hearts and smiles appeared across their exhausted faces.

However, the process was still not truly complete. Only the Sky Anchor’s physical structure had become whole again. Its soul had yet to reunite with its body.

They still had to continue the ritual.

Even so, the completed structure had already begun responding. The Sky Anchor released a faint pulse of her own Magic.

The ancient Magic energy spread gently throughout the chamber. It was weak still but it was alive.

The Void Architect felt it immediately. His expression stiffened.

The Magic of his Creation was growing stronger. And it had begun resisting him.

The Void Architect suddenly felt an overwhelming pressure descending upon him from a distant direction. It was unlike any ordinary surge of Magic.

It carried emotion. Powerful emotions. This contempt, hatred and anger. Every one of them was directed solely at him.

"ARGHHHH!!!"

The Void Architect threw back his head and roared into the sky like a maddened beast. The crimson mist surrounding his body erupted violently, twisting and surging in every direction as if reacting to the same unseen force.

His eyes immediately turned toward the source.

Far in the distance, a brilliant pillar of white light rose into the sky. It pierced through the clouds and illuminated the sky, standing like a beacon.

The moment King Garrie saw the Void Architect’s reaction, he instinctively followed the creature’s gaze.

The other knights and mages did the same.

Their eyes widened as they spotted the radiant pillar of white light reaching into the sky and relief immediately filled their hearts.

"That’s..."

"It came from the palace."

"The Sky Anchor!"

They recognized it instantly.

Beneath the royal palace lay the Sky Anchor, where the five Archmages had been performing the ritual of reunification.

Seeing that pillar of light, they immediately realized what it meant.

The ritual had either been completed, or it had reached its final stage. No wonder the Void Architect looked so distressed.

He had sensed that the Sky Anchor’s reunification was nearly complete.

The Creation’s power was returning. And it was no longer allowing itself to be controlled.

More bigger hope surged through the hearts of everyone standing on the battlefield.

But that hope was accompanied by another realization. This was also the most dangerous moment. Because if the Sky Anchor truly was about to awaken then the Void Architect would become more desperate than ever before.

The Void Architect’s head suddenly snapped back toward King Garrie. Then he lunged at him. The crimson mist trailed behind his body like a burning cloak as he shot across the ground.

King Garrie noticed it immediately. He forced himself back onto his feet, drawing upon every last ounce of strength remaining within his battered body.

Then he charged forward to meet him.

The two collided once again in the middle of the battlefield.

Their swords crashed together with explosive force.

The impact erupted into a violent shockwave.

But King Garrie was instantly pushed backward.
