Chapter 1439: Sending Visions

The fire filled with black light slammed into Nyssara’s defenses. The cosmic being felt the burning deep within her soul. It was not merely physical.

Fortunately, she had already drawn more power from her real body into this avatar. That allowed her to withstand the attack.

"If I hadn’t increased my power, I’m certain I would have been severely injured," Nyssara thought with growing worry and fear. "What made this Dragonborn become this strong?"

Nyssara was confused. Erend had suddenly reached this level of power within such a short period of time. It did not make any sense.

Nyssara looked toward the other three Dragonborn and realized that they had not experienced the same spike in power as Erend. What was happening? The cosmic being could think of only one answer.

That meant Erend had always possessed this potential. But he had only unleashed it now. Why? Was it because he was fighting her? Did this Dragonborn hate her that much? She knew that this Dragonborn’s power came from hatred.

That still did not make sense because this was the first time they had ever met.

So what was going on?

"Argh, to hell with all of this. I don’t care anymore. I just have to destroy them."

In the end, searching for the cause of this sudden spike in power was pointless. Nyssara concentrated and drew more of her power from the appendages she had used to protect herself, spreading that power throughout her body.

All of those thoughts that had just crossed Nyssara’s mind took no more than a few seconds.

Erend roared again as he felt another surge of power coming from Nyssara.

Then he flapped his massive wings and charged toward Nyssara, his fire blazing even darker. He shot across the sky like a blazing meteor with that blackened flames trailed behind him in a long burning path.

The beat of his wings sent waves of heat everywhere now.

Dark light burst from every part of Nyssara’s cosmic body as the power she had taken from her real body flowed continuously.

The countless wounds covering her body stopped worsening. Even though they did not fully heal, they became far more durable than before.

Her appendages that were broken now healed as black energy reinforced them from inside, turning them into weapons stronger than before.

She moved, and she vanished from her position with terrifying speed.

BOOM!

The two collided again. The impact exploded in violent waves.

Below them, the landscape that was already destroyed collapsed further, enormous cracks spread across the earth for dozens of kilometers.

Erend roared and swung one of his massive claws toward Nyssara’s eye.

Nyssara twisted her body and evaded the attack. In the next moment more than a dozen appendages burst from behind her body and they attacked Erend together.

Those appendages shot through the air with incredible speed, crossing one another from different directions as they closed in on Erend.

Some of those tentacles came from above while others swept in from below. Several of them curved around from behind, leaving almost no direction open for escape.

The appendages slammed against Erend at the same time.

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

The impacts echoed one after another.

Erend’s flames erupted violently upon contact, but not like before, the appendages did not burn away.

The additional power flowing from Nyssara’s real body strengthened that made them able to endure the blackened fire.

Nyssara immediately took advantage of that. The appendages changed direction in an instant.

Instead of continuing their attck they wrapped themselves around Erend’s Dragon body from every side.

One of the appendages coiled around his neck, two of them tightened around his hands, then several of them wrapped around his wings before they could flap again.

The remaining appendages twisted around his torso, legs, and tail until his entire body became restrained within layers of tendrils, then they tightened simultaneously.

Cracks start appearing and spreading across Erend’s Dragon Scales beneath the overwhelming pressure.

Nyssara narrowed her enormous eye and said in a warping voice, "Your fire can’t destroy them anymore!"

She poured even more power into the appendages. Her appendages contracted further, she attempted to crush Erend’s body outright.

Eccar, Aesa, and Sylven watched what was happening with solemn expressions.

This was not a good situation.

They did not waste any time.

As if their thoughts had synchronized, the three Dragonborn immediately lunged forward to help Erend.

Eccar, Aesa, and Sylven launched their attacks at Nyssara’s body.

At that moment, while his entire body was wrapped in the appendages that had halted his movement, Erend’s consciousness trembled.

Consumed by the Black Rage, he saw everything he had tried to protect lying in ruins.

That was, of course, not real.

But the Black Rage had never been about what was real.

It only wanted to show him anything that could make Erend become even more consumed by rage.

And now, what could make Erend even angrier than witnessing everything he wanted to protect destroyed right before his eyes?

He saw Aurdis and the Elf Palace destroyed, burned, lost, and dead.

He saw his mother and Arty lying in the middle of a ruined city.

Their eyes were open, but their souls were gone.

Erend let out another roar.

It was filled with more pain than anger.

He moved his entire body, trying to escape from the restraints.

He did it without calculation or reason.

As a result, he ended up injuring himself.

Blood flowed from Erend’s scales and body as he forcefully struggled.

The blood almost instantly evaporated after coming into contact with the blazing fire covering his body.

Eccar, Aesa, and Sylven noticed it.

They saw blood running across Erend’s body before evaporating into red mist among the fiery power.

The sight was deeply disturbing and alarming.

Without needing any coordination, the three of them sent their telepathic voices, carrying their emotions, to Erend.

"EREND, WAKE UP! THIS ISN’T REAL!"

The energy from all that ’shouts’ crashed into Erend at the same time. His mind suddenly snapped into focus.
