Chapter 1438: Keep Raging

Powerful attacks of ice and plant Magic rushed toward Nyssara. She saw them coming, but they were so fast that she did not have enough time to raise a proper defense.

So Nyssara used her appendages, gathering them into a cluster that intertwined in front of her body.

BOOM!

A massive explosion erupted. Another shockwave shook the sky, the air, and the earth. At this point, most of the undead that had approached the battle had already been destroyed, unable to withstand the continuous release of such immense power.

Several of Nyssara’s appendages that she had used to block the attack were destroyed and severed once again. However, some of them remained intact. She sent more of her Magic power into them, restoring those appendages.

Nyssara thought, "These Dragonborn can actually become even stronger. Were they deliberately hiding their power earlier to trick me?!"

Filled with anger, Nyssara regretted accepting their oath. If this had been her real body, she would have been able to obliterate them with ease. But now she had been bound by the oath, trapped in this lesser version of herself, appearing weak before mortal creatures like them!

Another roar escaped from Nyssara, but this time it did not sound like a roar. It sounded more like a shriek.

The sound struck Aesa and Sylven, halting their charge. It created pain inside their heads.

"Damn. This shriek is so loud it made my head hurt!" Sylven said to Aesa.

"It must contain her Magic and her anger. This isn’t a normal sound, but an attack as well," Aesa replied.

"We can’t stop now," Sylven said. "Erend is still unstable. We have to keep fighting her until Erend becomes stable again."

"Yeah. It would be even better if we could actually defeat her," Aesa said.

"Hmph!" Sylven replied with a determined grunt.

They endured the shriek attack, then pushed forward with even greater tenacity.

Nyssara, now consumed by anger, did not think about anything else except attacking with everything she had. She glanced at Erend and realized that the fire Dragon seemed to be experiencing something. He had not joined the attack after relentlessly assaulting her earlier.

"What is happening?" Nyssara wondered.

BOOM!

While her mind wandered, she was struck by an ice attack that froze her vision. The ice attack hit her eye. Then, a moment later, she felt giant vines wrapping around her body from every direction and coiling around her appendages.

After her vision recovered a little, before Nyssara could do anything, Aesa arrived and slashed at her eye.

The white Dragon claw was enveloped in powerful ice Magic. It froze Nyssara’s eye the moment it struck.

Nyssara let out that shriek once again, forcing Aesa to flap her wings and fly backward, putting a considerable distance between them to escape the shriek.

At that moment, Nyssara’s anger shifted completely toward Aesa and Sylven. She focused all of her attacks on them.

The broken appendages moved. A dozen of them struck at the same time with tremendous speed, as though they had minds of their own.

Meanwhile, Eccar finally arrived before Erend, who seemed to have completely lost control. Erend’s eyes looked unfocused, filled only with the light of hatred and anger. His mouth hung open, revealing rows of sharp teeth. Fire burned inside his throat, warping the air around his mouth with even greater distortion than the air surrounding his body.

Eccar called out to Erend.

"Erend! Get yourself together. You can’t surrender yourself to your Rage!"

Eccar was already beginning to feel overwhelmed. A battle was raging on the other side, and now Erend seemed to have completely lost control. He had to regain control of this situation quickly, or everything could go terribly wrong.

Eccar decided to move closer. He entered the area of intense heat surrounding Erend’s body. His scales began to hiss as though they were burning, but as long as it was only the hot air, it was not enough to injure him.

Eccar stopped directly in front of Erend and looked him in the eye.

Just by doing that, Eccar seemed to see clearly what now existed inside Erend’s mind.

That mind was clearly unstable, filled with anger and the desire to destroy. But that desire did not come from a wish for pure destruction. What Erend wanted to destroy was his enemy, so that he could protect everything he wanted to protect.

Eccar could understand that.

But this was not good.

"Erend, if you surrender yourself to those thoughts, you’ll also destroy what you’re trying to protect," Eccar sent through their telepathic connection once again. This time, he accompanied the message with his deep concern for Erend.

But just like before, Erend still did not listen.

Instead, he roared and released even more heat from his body.

Eccar was pushed backward by the blast.

Then Erend surged toward Nyssara, trailing blazing fire behind him.

Nyssara, who was busy fighting Aesa and Sylven, sensed that aura of heat and killing intent. She turned and saw Erend rushing toward her.

Nyssara was reminded once again that Erend was the greatest danger to her.

She had to kill him first!

So the cosmic being immediately disengaged from Aesa and Sylven to confront Erend.

Erend’s eyes locked onto Nyssara’s form.

"KILL! DESTROY! BURN HER!"

Those were the only thoughts inside Erend’s mind now.

His fire grew darker, as though ink had seeped into the flames.

He opened his mouth. The dark fire gathered at the back of his throat with tremendous intensity.

"Get out of there!" Eccar sent to Aesa and Sylven.

The two Dragons wasted no time.

They immediately shot away from their positions, putting as much distance as possible between themselves and Nyssara.

BWOOSHH!!!

A stream of fire shrouded in blackness erupted from Erend’s jaws toward Nyssara. It looked like a pillar of fire mixed with darkness. Anyone who saw it would immediately realize just how powerful the attack was.

Even Nyssara could feel its power before it touched her.

Without realizing it, sensing the danger, she reinforced her body with the remaining power from her real body.

BOOM!

The attack landed on her with tremendous destructive force.
