Chapter 1436: The Rage, Again
Eccar had encountered something like this before.
It had happened when he and Erend confronted something known as the Great Calamity.
At that time, the Great Calamity had threatened the world where Aurdis and the Elf Kingdom were located. That world was also home to many other races.
Eccar had only recently met Erend back then. He had decided to help him and the Elves deal with the threat of the Great Calamity.
Together, they drew the Great Calamity’s attention so it would not spread across the entire world but remain focused on the Elf Kingdom alone. There, Erend, Eccar, and the Elf warriors were able to fight the Great Calamity with their full attention.
They defeated the Great Calamity.
Only then did they discover that he had once been a Dragonborn who had become corrupted and decided to conquer worlds instead of protecting them.
Later, they met the Ashen Tempest Dragon, their Dragonborn ancestor, while saving another world from a different threat.
There, they learned about the Black Rage, a rage that came from deep within a Dragonborn’s soul.
It was there that they learned the Rage had been the cause of the Great Calamity.
The Great Calamity had changed from a Dragonborn into a monster after surrendering himself to the Black Rage.
Now, what Eccar witnessed in Erend was ominously similar.

The heat waves spreading from him felt even more intense and destructive than before.
And that black substance made everything even more terrifying.
Eccar’s thoughts spiraled wildly through every possible outcome.
If Erend, with his unimaginable and mysterious power, became consumed by the Black Rage and changed into a monster, nobody would be able to stop him.
"I won’t let you become a destroyer," Eccar gritted through his teeth.
He sent even more thoughts toward Erend, trying to reach him through their telepathic connection.
This time, he also used his own Magic power to break through the barrier blocking his mind.
"What is happening?" Aesa asked Sylven.
"I don’t know. But Erend seems different. We don’t have time for this!" Sylven replied.
He then glanced toward Nyssara.
The cosmic being was still lying there, writhing.
"That being is weakening now. We have to focus on attacking her."
Aesa felt the same way as Sylven.
But she was also worried about Erend.
What exactly was this Rage?
Would it become dangerous for Erend?
"Aesa!" Sylven called inside her mind with a clear sense of urgency.
Aesa turned toward him.

His green-scaled Dragon body, with vines growing across several parts of it, gleamed beneath the surrounding light.
He looked at her with an intense gaze.
"Let Eccar deal with Erend. I’m sure he can handle it. We have to keep pressuring the cosmic being for now," Sylven said.
"Right." Aesa nodded.
The two of them flew toward Nyssara, who had managed to stand again while her broken appendages flailed around her.
While Eccar dealt with Erend, they had to finish this cosmic being first.
There was no time to waste worrying.
They both knew that.
On the other side, the battle between King Garrie and the Void Architect became even more intense.
However, the King of Leonora felt that the situation was still manageable.
The Void Architect had not displayed the overwhelming strength Garrie had expected.
He was still dangerous, with his strength alone and the poisonous Magic wrapped around his hands.
But for now, King Garrie could still block his attacks and prevent those hands from even scratching him.
"But I’m sure this won’t last long," the king thought solemnly. "He’s still holding back some of his power and thinks he can defeat me with this alone. Therefore, I have to press my attack right now!"
Golden and white light erupted from every part of the king’s body.
The body he had cultivated since his youth to absorb Magic from the Sky Anchor was not something to be underestimated.
He lunged forward, swinging his sword at an even greater speed than before.
"Kugh!" the Void Architect groaned.
The sudden increase in speed exceeded his expectations, forcing him to put more effort into dealing with this human.
Of course, the Void Architect could not unleash all of his strength.
His main body had already been badly wounded even before this invasion began.
Now it was in even worse condition because of what the Dragonborn had done by interfering with his plans after he had already expended much of his remaining Magic energy.
He had also seen Nyssara’s condition.

Foolishly, she had accepted the Dragonborn’s agreement, weakening herself.
Now that arrogant bitch could no longer be relied upon to finish everything.
So while she kept the Dragonborn occupied, he had come here to take matters into his own hands.
But now, the king was stronger than he had expected.
The Void Architect continued blocking King Garrie’s sword strikes.
Now that the king had begun exerting more of his strength, he found himself struggling.
Eventually, he had no choice.
He drew more power from his main body into this avatar, strengthening himself as well.
The Void Architect’s body gradually became enveloped in dark red light.
It clung to his body like mist, trailing behind him whenever he moved.
King Garrie narrowed his eyes and gritted his teeth.
Just as he had expected, the Void Architect would not allow himself to remain at a disadvantage for long.
They fought even harder.
Their clashes became fiercer, and the Magic shockwaves spreading across the battlefield grew even larger.
The green Magic surrounding the Void Architect’s hands also became much denser.
After some time locked in that stalemate, the Void Architect finally found an opening in King Garrie’s defense.
He struck.
His hand thrust forward.
King Garrie’s sword was caught and shoved aside.

Everything happened too quickly for the king to react.
The Void Architect’s other hand, wrapped in green Magic, thrust toward the king’s face.
King Garrie cursed under his breath and pulled his head backward.
But his movement was not enough.
The poison-covered hand grazed the king’s chin.
A sharp hissing sound echoed as intense pain shot through his chin.
But he knew he could not stop now.
So he pressed forward, thrusting his sword.
The Void Architect had already moved too far forward and could not evade in time.
He tried to dodge to the side, but the king was still faster.
The sword pierced his shoulder.
