Chapter 1435: More Destructive

The blazing fire filled the sky now. Besides that, heat waves spread throughout the surroundings, even reaching the blackened earth below.

Flames burned across the black ground, and the air turned yellowish from the intense heat.

Eccar, Aesa, and Sylven watched in silence. Even their Dragon bodies could feel the heat, proving just how powerful Erend had become.

The three of them immediately decided to pull back for the moment without exchanging a single word. They knew Erend would not hear them now.

Inside the blazing fire in the sky, Nyssara felt the heat enveloping her entire being and causing her immense pain. This fire was not an ordinary Magic attack. There was something fueling it and causing her to feel such overwhelming agony.

"What are you doing?" Nyssara asked. Her voice seemed to come from every direction, a mixture of anger and pain. Her huge eye stared at Erend.

Erend’s red Dragon body blazed with fire. He felt rage swelling inside his heart, making his mind unable to think clearly. He could hear Nyssara’s words, but they were nothing more than a buzz in the back of his mind.

Not important.

The only important thing he had to do now was keep fighting, keep attacking, kill this being before she killed everything he was trying to protect.

The fire blazed even harsher and brighter, surpassing the flames Erend normally created.

Erend kept firing fireballs and pillars of fire at Nyssara.

Nyssara’s body burned at a rapid pace.

"This Dragon...!" Nyssara shouted inside her mind. She began to feel anxious.

This Dragonborn she was fighting somehow seemed different from before. His power had increased drastically, enough to inflict this much damage on her even though he was fighting alone.

"What is happening? Don’t tell me... He..." Nyssara began thinking of something alarming. The cosmic being had never expected this battle to turn out like this.

Growing even more worried, Nyssara roared. Her voice shook the sky, the air, and the flames covering her body. She then pushed herself toward Erend. Her eye began to shine with an ominous light.

Erend noticed it. He even felt it within his soul that Nyssara’s power had increased and that she was targeting him.

However, Erend did not want to back down. His anger also continued rising. It affected his entire body. His scales began to split open, and orange hot steam emerged from the cracks.

Eccar gritted his teeth as he watched Erend changing. His Dragon eyes shone with yellow light.

But it was not just him. Aesa and Sylven also saw the same change in Erend.

"What is happening to him now?" Sylven asked through their telepathic connection, filled with worry.

"His body is releasing hot steam. That is not normal. I’ve never released my power like that," Aesa said. "Is this something that normally happens to him?"

"No," Eccar replied. "This is maybe... I’m not sure... But this could be the Rage."

"What?" Sylven and Aesa asked at the same time.

"I’ve never told you this before, but we Dragonborn are susceptible to an uncontrollable explosive anger. That is the Rage. The ancient Dragonborn told me about it."

Hearing that explanation, Aesa and Sylven fell silent. They were too shocked to say anything.

"Why didn’t you tell us until now?" Aesa snapped, beginning to lose her composure.

"Sorry. I thought something like that wouldn’t happen anymore," Eccar said with a sigh that escaped from his Dragon mouth.

Aesa and Sylven could feel his guilt through their telepathic connection, so they did not press the matter any further.

Aesa looked at the way Erend was fighting and said, "I don’t think it’s so bad. For now, at least. Erend’s strength has increased several times over. We need that."

Eccar did not reply immediately because he was concerned about Erend. He was afraid the Rage would destroy him.

"We have to help him," Eccar said. "We can’t let him fight alone."

"I agree," Sylven said.

"All right," Aesa said.

After reaching that agreement, the three Dragonborn flew toward the sky where the battle raged and the flames blazed.

The closer they got, the more they could feel the heat and Nyssara’s surging power. There were also screams and roars blending together, creating a cacophony of chaos.

The three drew closer.

Then they spotted Nyssara’s body. It was badly burned and destroyed in several places. All of it had been caused by Erend’s attacks.

"I’ll try to reach Erend again," Eccar said.

He then focused his mind on Erend.

It was surprisingly difficult to reach him now, as though something was blocking his mind.

"What is happening? Something like this has never happened before. Our telepathic communication has always connected without delay. Now it’s difficult," Eccar thought with growing concern.

He suspected the Rage was responsible.

So Eccar immediately tried once more to reach Erend.

Then—

BOOM!

Erend fired a fireball with incredible density.

It struck Nyssara directly in her face, possibly right in her single enormous eye.

She recoiled and was thrown backward several meters.

Then something unexpected happened.

Nyssara fell to the ground, crashing into it with tremendous force.

The impact shook the ground and sent debris and waves of blackened earth spreading in every direction.

The mighty cosmic being had finally fallen to the ground after demonstrating just how powerful she was.

Nyssara had never imagined this development.

Aesa, Sylven, and Eccar were shocked when they saw it happen.

But they were also glad.

It seemed defeating this cosmic being was finally within their reach.

They then looked at Erend.

But what they saw instead made them shudder.

Erend’s body was covered in a blackened substance.

The flames that had previously burned orange and crimson were now filled with that blackened substance.

ROAR!

He roared toward the sky.

As his roar echoed, a wave of heat even more intense than before spread outward.

But this wave...

To Eccar, Aesa, and Sylven, it felt different from before.

As if it had not come from Erend, but from something far more sinister and destructive.
