Chapter 337: Chapter 337: Do You Need Something So Late at Night?
Adrian Quincy turned a deaf ear.
’It was precisely because it was late that he had to go himself. Otherwise, she would only drift further and further away.’
Left with no other choice, Aiden Howkins had to follow him.
Before he left, he shot Nancy Lockwood a look.
Nancy Lockwood nodded in understanding. ’Before she officially resigned, she could still risk it all for Young Master Quincy one last time.’
...
When Adrian Quincy arrived at the door, Helen Wallace seemed to pop out of nowhere, a teasing smile playing on her lips. "Young Master Quincy, can’t resist a pretty face, can you?"
Adrian Quincy shot her a cold glance and said in a low voice, "Cut the crap."
Helen Wallace shrugged and got into his private car.
Aiden Howkins was in the driver’s seat, driving personally.
Their destination was The Caspian International Grand Hotel.
Inside the presidential suite, three or four empty red wine bottles lay on the balcony.
Although Claire Sinclair had a weak constitution, her tolerance for alcohol was extremely high. She could finish an entire bottle of hard liquor before getting drunk, so it took three or four bottles of red wine before she finally started to feel it.
’My head is spinning. The best thing to do now is lie down and sleep.’
She braced herself against the wall and stood up, ready to lie down on the bed. Just then, the doorbell rang.
’It’s so late. Could Teacher Hartwell be giving me a last-minute assignment?’
Claire Sinclair casually threw on a jacket, walked to the door, and looked through the peephole.
When she saw that handsome face—one she knew down to her bones—her heart felt as if it had been struck by something heavy. ’What is he doing here so late?’
She didn’t feel much joy, only surprise.
Claire Sinclair calmly opened the door, then took a small step back to put some distance between them before speaking. "Mr. Quincy, is there something you need this late at night?"
The strong stench of alcohol hit him, and Adrian Quincy’s brow furrowed. He didn’t mention it, however, instead taking the repaired phone out of his pocket and holding it out to her.
"Your phone is fixed. I came to return it to you."
Claire Sinclair’s gaze was drawn to the phone in his hand. ’That’s my phone...’
’Great, I don’t have to buy a new one.’
Claire Sinclair took the phone without hesitation. "Thank you for going out of your way to return my phone," she said. "I’m heading to bed now. Good night."
With that, she tried to close the door.
Adrian Quincy stuck his hand in the gap, stopping the door from closing.
"Claire, why were you looking for me today?"
Reluctantly, Claire Sinclair opened the door again, frowning in annoyance. "It was nothing. Please leave."
"Claire..." Adrian Quincy didn’t budge.
Claire was about to say something else when, out of the corner of her eye, she was drawn to the crowd of people standing behind him.
Aiden Howkins, Nancy Lockwood, and Helen Wallace were all there, along with a large group of people behind them.
’What’s with the huge entourage? What is this guy trying to do?’
’It’s the middle of the night. Anyone who didn’t know what was going on would think there was some kind of incident at the hotel.’
"Mr. Quincy, you didn’t bring all these people here just to see me, did you?"
"I am."
"..." She didn’t believe him.
Claire Sinclair moved to shut the door again, but Adrian Quincy simply slipped inside and closed it behind him.
Aiden Howkins and the others were left outside, all of them frowning.
’Young Master Quincy is being way too impatient!’
Aiden Howkins turned and instructed, "Spread out a little. Don’t stand so close together, you’ll scare people."
The group nodded and dispersed a little more.
...
「Inside the presidential suite.」
Claire Sinclair found herself pinned against the wall. Annoyed and emboldened by the alcohol, she raised her hands to push against his chest, but his solid frame wouldn’t budge.
After a few breathless attempts, she gave up and said irritably, "Mr. Quincy, I’m trying to sleep. Will you please get out!"
"Claire, I know you wouldn’t have come to find me for no reason."
