Chapter 36: I Honestly Do Want a Castle
Evergold family was rich.
VERY rich.
Even so, this wealth was only valid in the human world.
Despite having existed for nearly a thousand years, and perhaps even longer, and despite receiving help from gods and goddesses, they naturally did not possess many Nether and Aether coins.
Perhaps they had managed to amass a fortune of twenty or twenty-five million.
That was indeed a vast sum. For humans, it was.
Yet, given that they possessed an Angel-Lord and a Demon-Lord, it was understandable that it was not an enormous fortune.
Of course, by human standards, it was still an unimaginable amount of money.
Twenty million Nether and Aether coins, enough to live comfortably for hundreds of years without any hardship, even at the very heart of the Nether.
Dean, however, had pulled out a banknote bearing the image of one million Nether and Aether coins, as if it were nothing, and handed it to Raviel.
This meant only one thing.
"Don’t anger him."
Whatever you do, don’t get on the wrong side of Dean; don’t provoke him; don’t do anything to deceive or trick him.
This was undoubtedly an incredible level of power.
Even to the average person, it was clear that Dean was no ordinary human.
Perhaps... he wasn’t human at all.
That very night, with just a little research, Raviel had managed to discover that Dean had no family, that he had been an orphan all his life, and had even managed to find out that he had worked in a factory linked to them.
Everything was a mystery.
His current position and level of responsibility stood in stark contrast to his past.
NO ONE could acquire such a fortune overnight.
What Raviel did not know, however, was that this fortune had not been bestowed upon him all at once.
He had been exposed to it for eleven years of his life and had amassed his wealth over a long period of time.
It was simply that he... had not been able to use this fortune until now; that was all.
Before leaving that night, Dean had already collected three million pounds in cash and returned to the hotel with it.
Now that he had so much money at his disposal, he’d decided to throw a feast at the hotel the following day, and that’s exactly what he’d done.
He’d held a feast today and returned to his own home the next day.
Throughout this process, he’d focused on meditating as usual.
To put it plainly, he didn’t know what it took to become a Mid-Level player, and it was as if this were some secret knowledge that everyone was keeping to themselves.
That was precisely why he’d started meditating to strengthen his Holy Power rather than his mana, and had chosen to focus solely on that.
He didn’t know how to meditate. He simply knew that his power would increase whenever he meditated.
So he sat down on the ground, crossed his legs, closed his eyes, and began to breathe deeply.
After doing this for a while, he could see that he had indeed made some progress.
To tell the truth, this increase in power was VERY small.
Therefore, it would not be right to call this a sudden or significant boost in power.
He’d probably been meditating for half an hour, yet this had only caused the First-Class Holy Power Energy to fill up by 1%.
Dean hadn’t thought he’d ever grumble about something like this, but it really was slow.
It was frustratingly slow.
"Fuck this shit!" Dean had blurted out suddenly, jumping to his feet in irritation.
Just as he did so, the doorbell rang:
"Ding-dong!"
Dean went to the door and peered through the peephole.
He was certain the person he saw was the same one he’d seen two days earlier.
Dean opened the door and then said with a smile, "Lady Raviel."
Raviel looked very different from how she had two days earlier.
She was wearing trainers and sports leggings. On top, she had a T-shirt and a jacket.
She was covering her face with a mask, her eyes with sunglasses, and her head with a hat.
"May I come in?" Raviel had asked, removing her mask to reveal her smiling face.
Dean, for his part, had invited him in without the slightest hesitation.
The house... was hardly suitable for someone like Raviel.
Having lived in many countries, in houses so large they could almost be called palaces, this was the first time Raviel had ever set foot in a house like this.
It was possible to see mould in many places, as well as cracks in the walls and signs of wear and tear.
Yet, contrary to what Dean had expected, Raviel had actually said something genuinely sincere:
"Nice house you’ve got here."
Dean hadn’t expected to hear anything like that.
He’d even thought that Raviel had said it simply to make a good impression on him.
Still, the look in his eyes was enough for Dean to realise it was genuine.
"Thank you. Although I’d like to move to a much better place, like a castle, this has been my home for a very long time," Dean replied.
He’d quickly made some tea and offered it to Raviel.
After taking a sip of tea, Raviel reached into her inventory and pulled out a box with two pieces of paper.
Dean took the papers and read what was written on them.
One paper stated that his bank account had been transferred to another bank; the other specified the amount of the transfer.
When Dean saw what was written, he smiled and said, "I can’t thank you enough."
Raviel smiled and said, "I think you’ll be thanking me again."
As she said this, she added, "If you’d like, it’s not impossible to buy you a castle. There are dozens of castles for sale in Scotland. I’d like to give you the grandest and largest one as a gift."
Dean chuckled at these words and looked back at the paper in his hand.
Realising that Raviel hadn’t said anything else, he looked at the young woman again and realised she was serious.
"Holy shit, are you serious?"
