Chapter 35: I’ll Trust You, Do Not Break It

"You could say we’re at the very top, even amongst the most powerful families," Raviel had said suddenly.

Dean could understand why the woman was speaking so highly of him.

It was common knowledge, or rather, it was widely assumed, who Dean was.

The fact that he possessed such a vast fortune naturally made him a figure of interest. It was therefore only natural that the Evergold family would want him.

His presence in another country could have been detrimental to them.

In short, Dean was an incredible asset that must not be let slip through their fingers.

After hearing all this, the young man smiled and said, "I suppose you have a request for me?"

To put it plainly, he hated it when words carried hidden meanings; he liked to speak plainly about everything.

He’d been like that ever since he was a child.

Even so, Dean’s question had caused the smile on Raviel’s face to fade ever so slightly.

It seemed Raviel had misinterpreted, or rather, taken a bit too seriously, the young man’s words.

It was as though Dean knew why he was so sought after and found Raviel’s words condescending.

Yet the young man hadn’t meant anything by them.

"I was just... I was wondering whether you were a friend of England’s," Raviel had asked, speaking clearly this time.

Dean, however, had smiled.

"I am English, my lady."

When Dean uttered this sentence, Raviel had taken a deep breath and, exhaling, said, "I’m so glad."

After all this conversation, Dean had glanced at the portraits on the walls a few times.

Raviel said nothing.

The stunningly beautiful young woman had no intention of provoking the young man sitting opposite her, nor of doing anything to please him, and this was quite clear.

Dean had looked silently at these portraits for a few minutes and then turned to Raviel and asked:

"Can I have a cup of milk tea?"

The moment Raviel heard this question, she smiled, put on her mask and said, "It would be my honour to serve you a cup of tea," before leaving the room.

Raviel had removed her mask in front of him. That was enough for Dean. Of course, he didn’t trust him completely, but if what Raviel had said was true, then Dean had a reason to place a tiny bit of trust in her.

At the very least, he was aware that this was a vital asset he couldn’t do without at the moment.

He planned to make full use of it, without overstepping the boundaries.

Raviel had returned to the room shortly afterwards.

The servants had placed a large teapot, two cups and a milk jug on the table beside Dean and served them.

One cup had been given to Raviel, whilst the other remained beside Dean.

Dean had taken a sip of tea.

"Hmm... good tea," said the young man, and immediately turned to Raviel and spoke:

"I am willing to sell more coins. Well... banknotes."

At these words from Dean, Raviel shook her head and, as the servants left the room, removed her mask and asked, "How much are we talking about?"

"If I make too much money, you’ll track me down very quickly. To be honest, I don’t want anyone to know my identity. If you can make sure that no one other than you knows my identity, I might agree to sell you a million at a bargain price."

When Dean gave this reply, Raviel’s eyes had widened once more.

Her blood-red eyes, to be honest, made her look a little frightening.

"A million?" Raviel muttered. She’d been worried she might have misheard.

"One million Nether and Aether coins," Dean repeated, and then retrieved a banknote from the system bearing the figure 1,000,000.

The immense Life and Death energies emanating from the banknote instantly filled the entire room, causing the portraits of the gods and goddesses on the walls to glow faintly, one by one.

Raviel, meanwhile, had glanced at the money in Dean’s hand.

"I will ensure the money is tax-free. I will ensure that NO ONE tracks the new owner of the money," Raviel had said suddenly.

Dean, for his part, had held the money out towards her.

The woman immediately stood up, took the money from Dean’s hand and added it to her inventory.

"I’ll need to know your name during this process. This... isn’t a problem for you, is it?" Raviel asked.

Dean smiled and said, "If it’s to remain a secret between just the two of us, then that’s fine."

The woman nodded and then said, "Please write down your bank details for me. I’ll arrange for you to be transferred to a better bank and ensure you get a top-tier, unlimited card with the money you’ll have."

Dean carried out the requested tasks quite clearly.

It was clear what would happen if his personal details were leaked.

That was why he’d chosen to place just a little trust in Raviel.

In the real world, possessing a fortune meant having a great home, servants and bodyguards, cars and everything else that went with it.

The young man wanted a comfortable life.

He would do everything in his power to achieve it.

One million Nether and Aether coins equated directly to 300,000,000 Pounds.

Converted to dollars, this amounted to nearly 405,000,000 dollars.

Dean realised at that very moment that, even whilst doing absolutely nothing, he would lead an incredible life for the rest of his days.

Raviel had initiated the transactions immediately by dispatching her own ’ghosts’.

As she wished to conduct everything anonymously, she had not involved anyone else; together with his three ’ghosts’, she had managed to complete these transactions within ten minutes.

He then turned to Dean, armed with all the information he had gathered, and said:

"I shall personally deliver your card to you in two days, Mr Dean."

Upon hearing these words, Dean stood up and said, "I would be honoured if you would have me dropped off at my hotel in the city centre, my lady."

There was now nothing left for him to say or do.

From that moment on, he had already brought the Evergold family firmly under his control. Or rather, he had a great way to use them.

This... was to be expected.
