Chapter 29: Invade

Dean couldn’t even begin to describe how much this item would help him.

After all, he already had ten of those items, called ’mana essences’, that could boost his power.

In that case, he could swallow this pill first and then make up for the rest with the mana essences, couldn’t he?

The young man hadn’t given a moment’s thought to the fact that a glitch in the system might work in his favour.

Still, it had happened.

Everything was in order.

With this item, the auction had come to an end.

[Task 4: Well, What’s Next?

Within an auction, increase your own bid by exactly 5,000,000.

Reward: Holy Powder (S-Grade)

COMPLETED.]

The young man was, of course, now certain that the system would play a dirty trick on him.

That was precisely why he hadn’t really cared about the reward he was to receive.

When he glanced through his inventory, however, he was met with a surprising sight:

[Mana Essence x10 (C-Grade)

A potion created by the Light Elves of Álfheimr, used to strengthen and increase Mana, and capable of slightly improving its quality.

It can only be consumed by First/Ninth Class mages.]

"Seriously?" the young man thought.

He’d managed to win Mana Essence twice.

He had exactly twenty essences.

This was, frankly, a bit ridiculous.

It was as if the system had glitched twice in a row.

Mind you, Dean really didn’t care.

Of course, he’d have liked to get hold of this ’Holy Powder’ thing, but as he wanted to grow stronger quickly, he needed this sort of thing anyway.

With a sense of joy, the young man called out to Percival in his mind:

"Percival. Can you use the mana essences whilst you’re inside my soul?"

A reply came shortly afterwards:

"If you bring them out, I can take them from you and use them; it is not possible for me to physically access your spatial dimension, my lord."

Upon hearing this reply, Dean reached into his inventory, pulled out exactly five mana essences and said, "Use these."

At that moment, a ghost materialised from Dean’s shadow in full view of everyone, took the mana essences into its hand and vanished.

Just then, Nie Li himself approached Dean and gently handed him a card.

Dean eyed him up for a moment and, immediately after rolling his eyes, took the card.

On it, of course, was the name of the company to which Nie Li was affiliated, the one owned by his family.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, sir," said Nie Li, and as soon as he said this, something completely unexpected happened:

"BOOM!!"

An explosion occurred in an instant.

Following an attack by a ghost inside the cabin, Amber, Nie Li’s bodyguard, was practically pinned against one of the cabin walls.

Before Dean could even comprehend what was happening, some of the ghosts had risen to their feet.

There were perhaps four or five ghosts here who were powerful, or rather, who possessed the strength to fight properly.

To tell the truth, one could say that death was inevitable.

Dean, however, had realised he would certainly be targeted.

As he tried to work out who the attackers were, a voice came from immediately to his left:

"You’re not going anywhere, human."

The moment Dean heard this voice, he threw himself to the right and looked towards where the sound had come from.

It was the very same ghost who had helped him when he first entered the dungeon.

The young man saw that his hands were now like claws, and that his gaze was fixed on him, cold and serious.

Dean took a few steps back and examined his left side once more.

He could see exactly three ghosts standing there.

One of them had a palm full of blood.

It was clear that this was the one who had launched the attack.

When the cabin door burst open, perhaps twenty different ghosts had poured in.

They were all Sky Express staff.

Each of them had tried to use their powers, but it could be said they had failed to do so.

"KEHEHEHEH!" he laughed harshly.

"What is this?" one of the staff members asked.

As soon as he asked this, the answer came.

"We’ve cut off all the power. You lot can only use the bare minimum of power; you’re practically seventh- or eighth-class ghosts now!"

When Dean heard this reply, he was so stunned he didn’t know what to do.

It was abundantly clear that their enemies were powerful, but if the others weren’t in the same situation, this place would definitely be lost, wouldn’t it?

Lost in these thoughts, the young man was at a loss as to what to say or do.

At that very moment, the battle began.

Four ghosts immediately began attacking those around them, whilst the ghosts and humans started to flee.

Without a moment’s hesitation, the young man pulled Moon’s Rope straight from the depths of his soul.

As soon as he did so, he launched a direct attack on the ghost closest to him.

The rope completely wrapped itself around that ghost.

Dean, meanwhile, immediately turned to the staff members beside him and shouted, "What are y’all waiting for?!"

The moment he shouted this, four of the staff members lunged forward simultaneously, beating the bound ghost mercilessly and wounding it.

Then one of them pulled out a knife and plunged it into the ghost’s neck.

It seemed that once a ghost possessed a physical body, things changed completely.

Even a blow to the throat appeared to be far too much for it.

The ghost lost its life right there, and upon its death, the energies of Life and Death fell to the ground in the same way, forming a sphere.

Dean picked it up and added it to his inventory.

This move of his seemed to have immediately emboldened the remaining people.

Still, the enemy ghosts weren’t just four in number.

Several voices came from the rear cabin, the one where the poorer, less affluent passengers travelled, and as the cabin door swung open, a dozen or so more ghosts poured in.

"Come on, brothers, kill these bastards!!!" shouted one of the enemy ghosts.

Dean realised he couldn’t hold them all off.

So he was trying to work out what to do.

At that moment, he could hear it. Someone was speaking in his mind.
