Chapter 35: Decided to End It
The color of the sky outside, which had been orange, began to lose its light, replaced by stars that started to show their shine.
Liam’s study group was now in the library as usual. However, what made it slightly different was the minimal interaction between Liam and Silvia.
Darren and Megy, who were watching from across them, could only raise one eyebrow. They already knew something must have happened between the two.
"Did they fight?" Darren whispered quietly to Megy, without being heard by Liam and Silvia who were solving difficult problems in their books.
"Seems like it..." Megy whispered back.
"How about you try talking to Liam? Aren’t you two close friends?" Megy added.
Darren observed Liam, who was focused on working on a problem. For some reason, in the last few minutes Liam had been scratching his head a lot. And Darren knew that it was definitely not because of an itch or anything like that.
This guy must be deep in thought, something Darren had learned since they became friends in middle school.
"Yo, Liam." Darren called. His voice was rather small but loud enough for Liam to hear.
Liam lifted his head and frowned slightly. "Hmm?"
"Have you finished that commission request for the doujin with the tall domina—" Before he could finish that degenerate sentence, Darren’s head was smacked by Megy.
Darren looked at Megy with teary eyes, as if saying "Weren’t you the one who told me to talk??"
Megy glared back at him. "Not like that, you perverted idiot!"
However, who would have guessed that a rather tired voice sounded between them.
"Yeah... I’ll work on it tonight, Darren." Liam said, going back to scribbling in his book.
Darren frowned. His friend was not acting like usual. Normally he would raise an eyebrow and get irritated, saying, "What do you think I am?! I am an artist on the good side. I will not think about the money, and I will not enter the dark side."
Meanwhile, Liam’s mind was very heavy right now. And he had just made a very important decision in his head.
’In the next hypnosis session... I will not follow Miria’s hypnosis game anymore, and I will confront her about it directly.’
However, Liam was still very confused about how he would explain everything. Miria would definitely be very shocked. Imagine someone she had thought was completely in the palm of her hand had actually been playing along with her all this time.

But still, Liam was determined to end this stupid hypnosis game in Miria’s next hypnosis session. And after that, he would think about Silvia’s request.
There were so many things he had to resolve, and he did not know why he wanted to help these girls.
He could have just ignored all of them, or even taken advantage of them all.
He could have continued maintaining his hypnosis act and let Miria pour all her sexual desires onto him.

However, he refused to do any of that. He did not want to do it.

Liam’s heart felt lighter again after contemplating all that. The habit of his fingers scratching his hair slowly stopped.
’Ah! I managed to solve one physics problem that Silvia taught me yesterday.’
Liam then slowly turned his head toward Silvia. His eyes also moved slowly like a calm river. He looked at the girl’s side profile, which perfectly matched what others said about her.
’A flower that cannot be reached.’
Liam then opened his mouth.
"Silvia." He called.
Silvia was slightly startled, shown by how her body tensed up like a cat.
She then put on her usual polite smile, different from her gloomy appearance earlier. Who knew what was on her mind. Maybe academic pressure, or problems with her mother.
"Umm... can you review this problem I just solved, Silvia?" Liam asked, holding his book and handing it toward her.
Darren and Megy across from them, who had been watching, were slightly surprised.
Megy elbowed Darren’s stomach quite hard, making him react.
"Ow..." Darren hissed.
"Darren, are they... dating?" Megy whispered to Darren. Because of her small body, her voice also followed suit.
"Doesn’t seem like it... there’s just no way." Darren said, stroking his chin.
Megy frowned and looked at Darren beside her.
"Look properly, idiot. What is happening in front of us... doesn’t it look like the trending drama right now? The two leads who fought, then the male lead starts trying to make up again."
Darren, hearing that, could only grin and hold back the laughter that was about to explode.
"Pfftt... I didn’t expect you to have that side too, Megy. You think we are living in a K-drama?"
Megy, who had been too immersed in the atmosphere, started to come back to her senses. Her face turned red from embarrassment and anger.
Megy then pinched Darren’s stomach. It made Darren accidentally bite his tongue and pat Megy’s hand under the table to stop.
"Ow ow ow! Stop, Megy. Khkk..."
"Serves you right." Megy turned her face away.
Darren rubbed his stomach. Hearing Megy’s words earlier, he looked properly at what was happening in front of him.
Silvia was reviewing what Liam had done, and Liam was just watching his book being reviewed by Silvia.
There was nothing strange about it, and certainly nothing between them.
Megy might not know. But for Darren who had known Liam since middle school, he knew all about Liam’s personality and what he lacked confidence in.
Megy and Silvia, and maybe even Miria, Liam’s childhood friend, might not know what Liam had experienced back in middle school.
This was not the first time he had gotten involved and close with girls, that was what Darren could say.
As for why Liam did not have a girlfriend or anything like that, considering that Liam’s appearance was above average but not like a top idol that others could not reach, so his looks were good enough for confident girls to think they had a chance.
Because of that appearance, Liam often did not realize that many girls liked him, or perhaps he did but chose to ignore it.
Or maybe he was just dense. Yeah, that was most likely true.
But the reason why Liam was so dense and had such insecurity happened back when they were in middle school.
Where Liam had his first girlfriend.
’From the beginning, that relationship should never have been accepted...’ Darren thought, smiling bitterly.
