Chapter 107: Chapter 107 : God

The next morning was Christmas.

Henry had never cared much about the religious side of the holiday. What he liked was the simple fact that it was one of the few occasions people spent together with family.

Besides, believing in the religious aspect felt a little difficult when he technically knew who God was in this universe.

And honestly? Chuck wasn’t exactly inspiring. The man was less a benevolent creator and more an obsessive writer with far too much attachment to his favorite characters.

Henry walked into the quiet kitchen, opened the refrigerator, and grabbed a carton of milk. The house was still asleep.

Dean was probably unconscious after drinking enough alcohol to qualify as a health hazard, Sam was likely sleeping normally for once, and Madison had somehow managed to survive an entire evening around Bela without committing murder.

As he poured himself a glass, a random thought occurred to him.

Has it really been a year already?

An entire year since he arrived in this world. One year of hunting monsters, surviving situations that should have killed him, and slowly turning the timeline into something completely different from what it was supposed to be.

Which immediately led him to a more concerning thought.

Does Chuck know I exist?

Henry leaned against the kitchen counter, frowning.

Chuck had an unhealthy obsession with Dean and Sam. He constantly watched them, manipulated events around them, and treated their lives like entertainment.

By that logic, Henry should have shown up on his radar a long time ago. He had altered too many things. Bela was still alive. Crowley had entered the picture earlier than he should have.

Lilith’s plans were already being interfered with. A being as omniscient as Chuck should have noticed all of that.

Yet nothing had happened. No divine intervention. Nothing.

Henry looked toward the translucent blue screen only he could see.

The system remained as mysterious as ever. Most of the time it did absolutely nothing — simply rewarded him for killing monsters and occasionally offered new items to purchase.

Despite its simplicity, it was still the biggest anomaly attached to him. Maybe it hid him. Maybe it didn’t. There was no way to know.

At the end of the day, Chuck was supposedly omniscient. There were only a handful of beings capable of hiding things from him.

Death could probably do it, though that ancient being cared so little about everything that the question was irrelevant. The Darkness certainly could, but she remained imprisoned.

The Void was another possibility, assuming it was awake enough to care.

Henry thought about it for another minute before dismissing the entire subject. If Chuck knew about him, worrying wouldn’t change anything.

If Chuck didn’t, drawing attention to himself seemed like a terrible idea. Either way, the problem sat far beyond his current abilities.

He glanced toward the familiar screen.

[SP: 400]

[Gacha Spins: 2 Uncommon, 3 Common]

His attention shifted toward something much more practical. Six hundred more SP, and the Angel Fragment still available for purchase.

It better be worth it.

People acted like angels were unstoppable divine warriors.

Reality painted a very different picture. Most angels spent centuries acting superior to everyone before getting stabbed once by an angel blade and exploding into light.

Super strength was nice, teleportation was useful — but becoming a pure angel sounded terrible. The first thing Heaven would do was recruit him into whatever celestial civil war happened to be occurring that week.

And if there was one thing Henry had learned from watching Supernatural, it was that angels were somehow even worse at managing their own affairs than demons were.

He settled onto the sofa. The television was playing A Christmas Carol.

Henry recognized it immediately. A small smile appeared as he watched Ebenezer Scrooge grumble his way through the opening scenes.

Some things apparently remained constant across universes — monsters, demons, angels, and cosmic horrors might exist here, but people still spent Christmas watching the same holiday classics.

After a few minutes, his attention drifted toward the gacha screen.

He activated the first common spin.

[Congratulations! You have gained Garments of Zeus.]

[Description: Wear it and Zeus might look at you like a special bug.]

Henry stared at the screen. "What kind of description is that?" Attracting Zeus’s attention was usually the beginning of somebody’s problems rather than the solution.

The second common spin.

[Congratulations! You have gained Texas Chainsaw (Cursed Object).]

[Description: Once activated, the chainsaw becomes difficult to stop. Possesses an extraordinarily sharp edge capable of tearing through most materials.]

His expression remained blank. "So the system wants me to become a horror movie villain."

The third.

[Congratulations! You have gained a Useless Book.]

[Description: As its name suggests, it is useless.]

Henry looked at the screen. Then at the book that had appeared beside him. Then back at the screen.

"Thanks. Very informative."

A divine fashion accessory, a cursed chainsaw, and a decorative brick pretending to be literature. His expectations hadn’t been high. The system still managed to disappoint him.

"Common gacha really is full of random trash."

The television continued playing in the background while Scrooge complained about Christmas. Henry found himself oddly agreeing with the old miser — at least when it came to the common gacha.

He moved on to the uncommon spins.

[Congratulations! You have gained Rank A: Rasengan.]

Henry straightened.

Unlike the previous rewards, this was an actual combat technique. A powerful one. Weapons could break, items could be lost — techniques stayed with you. A smile appeared as he accepted the reward.

"Now that’s more like it."

The second uncommon spin activated.

[Congratulations! You have gained 1/3 Part of the Holy Sword of Judgement.]

[Description: Collect all three fragments to obtain the Holy Sword of Judgement. The completed weapon possesses immense divine fire capable of unleashing devastating attacks. At its peak, its flames can incinerate entire cities.]

"Wow."

Henry glanced toward the Christmas tree standing in the corner of the living room.

"Is my luck actually good because it’s Christmas?"
