“Fine, I’ll drink with you!”

“No way. If you drink, who’s going to take me home?”

Gary gasped.

So he came over just to be a sucker who has to eat, drink, and get forced to be the designated driver, huh?!

Watching Stephan down several bottles of liquor, Gary couldn’t help but speak up.

“Hey, is that woman really that great? To have you so smitten.”

A hint of intoxication flickered in Stephan’s eyes; he narrowed his dark eyes and offered no answer.

Was she that great?

He didn’t know but he always had this indescribable feeling.

Like he was under a spell.

His mind was filled with her.

Stephan strongly suspected that Alana, that wicked woman, had drugged him.

A drug that made him think of her day and night.

Stephan’s gaze gradually grew unfocused.

“Tell me, a woman who was so passionate with you in bed, she even called you ‘husband’. But why, the moment she gets out of bed, does she put on a skirt and act like she doesn’t even know you?”

Gary’s eyes dilated.

Wow, so he’s already slept with that woman!

Looks like there was more to this story than meets the eye.

He cleared his throat. “Women, you know, actually really like to say one thing and mean another. Either you didn’t give her a good experience, or... you didn’t give her enough.”

Stephan frowned, looking quite puzzled. “We’ve been at it for a whole day and night and that’s still not enough?”

Gary choked on water. “Whoa! Dude, you didn’t just kill her, did you?!”

Was Stephan that obsessed with her?

“Bro, maybe you should tone it down a bit. She might not be able to handle it.”

Stephan sighed.

He didn’t want to say anything more. It was over between him and her anyway. From now on, they would never see each other again.

If he goes looking for her again, then he was a hopeless fool!

Alana didn’t sleep very soundly that night.

When she woke up, she had heavy dark circles under her eyes.

When she arrived at the office, Carla was taken completely by surprise. “Lana, did you pull an all-nighter in the dark last night? Why do you look like a zombie?”

Alana forced a smile but didn’t explain. “I do? I just couldn’t sleep.”

Carla studied Alana’s beautiful face closely, stroking her chin as she asked,

“Do you think you might be pregnant? Looking at your complexion, it seems like it’s more than just a simple case of insomnia.”

Alana gasped.

Carla thought about it and realized something was off. “Wait a minute, you don’t even have a man. How could you possibly get pregnant? Still, why don’t you go to the hospital and get checked out?!”

Alana swallowed. “Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll find time to get checked out.”

She wasn’t pregnant though!

She had been as careful as possible even though that man had been reckless.

After brushing it off with a few words, Alana turned on her computer and switched into work mode.

After working for a while, she suddenly received a message from Luke on her phone.

It said he was about to board his flight.

He asked her to take care of their two pets at home.

He also mentioned that he’d already made a checklist of how to care for them, which he’d left on the coffee table so she’d see it when she got there.

After reading the message, Alana replied with an “Okay.”

Luca replied just as quickly.

Luca; If you have any questions, just give me a call or send me a message.

Alana: Okay.

Her tone was strictly business. Luca sighed in exasperation.

Why does it feel like Alana was treating him like a Boss?

Sure, he was paying her, but he’d much rather be her friend and get closer to her.

But there was no rush, he’d wait until he got back from his business trip.

Luca: I’m about to board the plane. Let’s talk after I land.

Alana: Okay.

Seriously?

Okay again?!

Luca sighed and turned off his phone.

All day long, Alana had devoted herself entirely to her work.

When a colleague asked her to do something, she got right to it without a word. In the past, she might have had some reservations. But now, she just wanted to keep herself busy.

As long as she kept herself busy, she wouldn’t have time to overthink things.

When it was time to leave work, Alana grabbed a quick bite to eat outside and then hurried over to Luca’s house.

She had a key to his house and unlocked the door.

The golden retriever and the chubby orange cat rushed toward her, circling around her.

They clearly still recognized her.

Seeing the two adorable pets, Alana felt that her heart, weary from a long day’s work, was perfectly soothed.

“Jerry and Ollie!”

“Long time no see!”

Alana couldn’t resist hugging the golden retriever and giving it a kiss on the cheek.

Not wanting to neglect the other, she picked up the chubby orange cat and gave it a kiss too. After petting the cat and dog for a while, she checked their food and water.

There was still a little left.

She refilled them. She filled both the dog bowl and the cat bowl to the brim.

She also changed the water in both bowls and filled them up.

The living room was where the cat and dog usually hang out, so there was a lot of cat and dog hair.

She gave it a quick clean-up.mAfter working for quite a while, she realized she hadn’t taken them for a walk yet.

The two pets were staring at her with pleading eyes. Alana sighed, thinking to herself, “It’s no easy task taking care of two pets.”

She reached out and petted the heads of both the cat and the dog.

“I’ll get your leashes and take you for a walk outside.”

Hearing this, the two pets immediately began jumping up and down with excitement.

After putting the leashes on them, Alana said to them with a worried look, “Remember, don’t run off anywhere. If you get lost, you’ll end up as unwanted strays. You don’t want to lose your steady food supply, do you?!”

The two pets sat in front of Alana, seemingly understanding, but they kept jumping up and down.

Alana blinked.

They seemed well behaved.

But the reality was that the moment she let them out, they were like wild horses breaking free, running wild.

If it weren’t for the leashes holding them back, Alana probably wouldn’t be able to keep up with the cat and the dog.

Luca even claimed his two pets were well-behaved and obedient, what a load of

nonsense!

After walking them around the park near the Estate, Alana was completely exhausted, so she quickly grabbed the leashes and led the two pets back home.

But just like that, an accident happened.

The big Golden Retriever suddenly broke free from the leash and bolted.

Alana was both shocked and terrified, afraid the big golden retriever would run away. She quickly scooped up the big orange cat and ran after the Golden Retriever.

A woman, a cat, and a dog were running back and forth through the Estate gates.

Stephan had just gotten home from work when he heard a familiar voice from a distance.

“Ollie. Stop right there! Stop running!”

“Please...”

Stephan turned his head and saw Alana, clutching a plump orange cat, chasing after a large golden retriever.

She was wearing a blue dress with a fitted waist that hugged her slender waist.

Her skirt fluttered as she ran, dancing gracefully like a butterfly.

Her beautiful long hair danced through the air, tracing lovely arcs.

Against the faint night sky, the scene was breathtakingly beautiful.

The girl clearly couldn’t outrun this big golden retriever; she was running with great effort, her face flushed and her expression pained.

Especially since she was holding a chubby orange cat in her arms.

Stephan frowned.

So these were the two pets she said she’d be taking care of part-time for Luca?!

That silly woman really knows how to get herself into trouble.
