Chapter 92: Chapter 92 Like a fool
He stood up. “Where’s the ointment?”
Alana glanced toward the drawer. “In the drawer.”
Stephan got up, walked to the drawer, pulled it open, and rummaged through it until he found the anti-inflammatory ointment.
He turned and walked over to Alana.
His towering figure loomed over her.
He looked down at her from above, creating an overwhelming sense of pressure. “Are you going to take your pants off yourself, or should I help you?”
A blush spread from Alana’s cheeks to the nape of her neck. The man clearly hadn’t heeded what she’d just said.
So she couldn’t help but step back.
But where could she possibly go?
In the end, wouldn’t he just grab her legs, pull her back, and do as he pleased?
So, by the time the man had finished applying the ointment, Alana could no longer bear it and buried her burning face in the blankets, pretending to be dead.
Seeing that the girl had already slipped into a state of feigned unconsciousness,
Stephan curved his lips, lay down on the bed, and pulled the girl, along with the quilt, into his embrace.
Alana’s body stiffened slightly.
Stephan patted her back gently with his large hand to reassure her. “Don’t worry, I won’t touch you.”
Hearing this, Alana’s tense body finally relaxed a little.
Stephan wrapped his arms around her, his legs instinctively wrapping around her slender calves, pressing her petite frame tightly against his own.
Gazing at the still, docile, and quiet girl in his arms, he felt an indescribable flutter in his heart.
His large hand gently stroked the back of her head as he spoke in a hoarse, low voice, “Lana, will you be my girlfriend?”
First a girlfriend, then a wife.
Of course, if she wanted to, he’d be happy to go get a marriage certificate with her right away. Besides, his mother was already pressuring him to get married.
Most importantly, he was hooked on her, not just physically, but... hooked on her as a person. He’d never cared so deeply about a girl before.
She was the first.
So, he didn’t want to give her up.
So what if she has a boyfriend?
Her boyfriend was away on a business trip anyway. He’d just have to snatch her away before he gets back.
Alana lay quietly in his arms, saying nothing.
Stephan didn’t press her to speak, giving her time to think.
The room was deathly quiet, so quiet that the sound of their pounding hearts could be heard clearly.
Alana closed her eyes, her breathing shallow. Though her mind was in turmoil, her thoughts were clearer now than ever before.
She didn’t want to be his girlfriend.
She didn’t want to have anything to do with him. The pain from her family of origin and her ex made her want to avoid any kind of intimate relationship.
If she simply rejected him outright, she wouldn’t have to think about what might happen between them next.
But if she agreed to be his girlfriend, then she would have to wonder: how much of his feelings for her were genuine, and how much were just pretense?
If his feelings for her were genuine, then she should reciprocate with an equal amount of love.
But once she becomes deeply entangled in this relationship, how long could it possibly last? Thinking back to her parents’ endless arguments, which ultimately led to the family falling apart, and how she was cruelly abandoned.
She didn’t want to go through what happened between her parents all over again.
Nor did she want to become a love-crazed person again.
Reject him, and it’ll all be over.
If she didn’t reject him, her future romantic prospects would be bleak.
Whether it would bring happiness or pain was anyone’s guess.
So, she might as well settle for the status quo.
Alana took a deep breath and spoke slowly, “Stephan, I’m sorry. Let’s just...consider this our last time of crossing the line.”
Stephan’s breathing suddenly grew tight; his dark eyes sharpened, like blades, cutting straight into her delicate cheeks.
His deep voice carried a chill.
“What do you mean?”
Alana raised her eyes and looked at him earnestly. “It means we can put an end to this ridiculous game.”
He couldn’t help but grind his back teeth fiercely, a flicker of rage igniting in his eyes. Good grief!
What a heartless woman!
Last night, she was fiery with passion beneath him, even calling him “husband,” and now she wants to cut ties with him and end it all completely!
Did she really think this is just a game, something she can start whenever she wanted and end whenever she pleases?
“Alana, don’t forget, you’re the one who led me on first!”
If it should be over, he should be the one to decide!
Alana lowered her eyes and murmured softly, “I’m sorry. I regret...”
Stephan laughed in exasperation. “Regret, my foot!”
Was she really that regretful about sleeping with him?
Then what exactly were all those days of entanglement between them?
Was he just being a fool?!
Fine!
He admitted it, there was definitely a touch of self-abasement in him!
Stephan reached out, his long, slender fingers gripping the girl’s delicate jaw. His dark, brooding eyes fixed on her, cold to the extreme.
“Lana, do you think I can’t live without you? Is that why you keep treating me like this?!”
Alana’s eyelashes trembled uncontrollably as she bit her lip. “No, no...”
She had never thought that.
Stephan looked at the small girl before him, clenching his teeth tightly to suppress his rage.
He decisively let go of her. “Fine! Since you want to end this game, then let’s end it. But let me tell you this: I’m the one ending it. You... don’t have the right!”
With that, the man got out of bed without hesitation and left her room decisively.
With a loud thud, the door slammed shut.
Alana’s body trembled slightly, and she slowly closed her eyes.
It was clear he was furious.
This time, she should be able to get rid of him for good.
But somehow, she didn’t feel as happy as she’d imagined.
It’s okay, Lana. It will all pass.
That night, Alana slept with great anguish.
***********
Stephan stormed out of Alana’s apartment.
As he left, he inexplicably grabbed those black slippers as well.
Then, as if to vent his anger, he tossed them into the trash can.
He hadn’t even worn them yet, and now another man had.
And naturally, he wouldn’t wear a pair that had been worn by another man.
So, since that woman, Alana, already had a boyfriend, he shouldn’t have coveted her!
Why force something that doesn’t belong to him?
Stephan drove like a maniac all night long, but he still couldn’t shake off the pent-up frustration in his heart.
He turned the car around and drove straight to Meise.
He booked a private room at Meise and ordered several cases of liquor.
As it happened, Gary was also at Meise and had come upon hearing the commotion. Seeing Stephan guzzling alcohol like it was water,
He leaned in curiously, “What’s going on?Didn’t manage to win over that girl who’s already taken? Heartbroken?”
Stephan shot Gary a fierce glare.
It was all because of the crazy idea he’d come up with!
What was that nonsense about taking photos of his abs to seduce women, as if that would make them fall head over heels for him?
He took the abs photos, he made his move, and he went all out to woo her for so long, and he still couldn’t win over that ungrateful woman?!
Gary rubbed his nose nervously. “Why are you glaring at me? Your heartbreak has nothing to do with me. Who told you to set your sights on a woman who’s already taken?”
Stephan sneered, “Did I say it was me?!”
Gary scoffed. “It wasn’t you. Then why are you drinking so much for no reason?”
Stephan’s face was tense, his eyes dark and menacing.
“I felt like it. Is that a problem?”
Gary grimaced.
