Chapter 72: Chapter 72 The other man

Everyone couldn’t help but feel curious.

Could it be that the little white rabbit Stephan was holding was really a gift for a woman?

Which woman?

Someone, who caught note of something, suddenly gasped.

“Mr. Hudson, um, your...your lip...it looks like there’s a scab on it. What happened? Who did that?” Hearing this, everyone turned to look at Stephan’s lips.

Sure enough, the pale scab had darkened and become more prominent.

Gary raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on his lips. “Let me guess, in such an intimate spot, was it a woman who bit you?”

Stephan’s expression remained impassive as he leisurely poured himself a glass of red wine and took a small sip.

He looked thoroughly at ease.

His expression spoke volumes.

Everyone looked on, their eyes sharp and perceptive.

This was going to be interesting!

There was definitely something going on!

Someone asked curiously, “Young Master Stephan, which woman bit you? She must have bitten you pretty hard.”

“Yeah, she even drew blood. That must have been a pretty intense kiss, right?”

The girl who had a crush on Stephan felt a sudden pang of heartache when she saw the scab on his lip.

She asked, “Mr. Hudson, do you have a girlfriend now?”

Stephan’s expression remained impassive.

“That’s a personal matter. I’m not telling.”

He wasn’t in a relationship yet, so he couldn’t make it public.

Upon hearing this, the sweet girl couldn’t hide the disappointment in her eyes.

Gary had a vague hunch about what was going on. He clicked his tongue, a playful smile on his face.

“Do I know who this mystery girl is?”

Stephan shot Gary a glance and curled his lips in a casual smirk.

“Take a good look at yourself, do you even think you’re worthy of knowing her?”

Gary gasped.

From the sound of it, Stephan implied that the girl was exceptionally noble.

Not even Gary was worthy of knowing her.

They grew even more curious, just who was this stunning beauty that could earn such high praise from Stephan?

However, Stephan seemed unwilling to reveal the girl’s specific identity, so no matter how curious they were, they couldn’t get any further details.

Gary gritted his teeth, approached Stephan reluctantly, and asked in a low voice.

“Stephan, tell me the truth, is it the girl in the white dress I saw on the first floor of the restaurant that day? When you seemed to be arguing in front of a waitress?”

Stephan shot Gary a withering glance. Did he really need to ask?

Gary couldn’t help but laugh out loud. “It really is her! But I seem to recall you telling me she had a boyfriend and even advised me not to pursue her.”

“What’s this? You told me not to go after her, but you went and became the third wheel yourself? Way to go, buddy. You’ve really made me look at you in a whole new light!”

Stephan almost choked.

Just then, a guy was spreading some gossip.

“Hey, hey, hey, let me tell you guys about something funny that happened recently.”

“What’s so funny?”

“Spill it!”

“One of my friends has recently fallen for a married woman, he’s been acting like a total suck-up to her every single day!”

“What? That’s wild!”

“Who’s this friend of yours? Why’d he have to set his sights on a married woman of all people?”

“Isn’t he basically setting himself up to be the other man?”

“That’s so shady. Tell your friend to cut his losses. There are all kinds of women out there, why get hung up on someone who’s already taken?”

“Exactly!”

“I’d love to talk some sense into him, but it’s no use. His brain’s completely muddled, he’s determined to throw himself at that woman!”

“The woman isn’t even interested in him, yet he has the nerve to check in on her every day, pouring his heart out to her about everything. He’s beyond help!”

“He really is beyond help. I seriously suspect your friend has a mental problem, and it’s not a minor one. You should get him to see a psychiatrist right away and have his head checked!”

“Not only is there something wrong with his brain, but he’s also a total jerk!”

“Hurry up and spill your friend’s name, I’d love to see which man is so stupid, he’s practically a pig!”

“Hahaha, it’s...”

Stephan suddenly interrupted in a deep voice, “Enough!”

“Everyone, shut up!”

The group of jokers fell silent instantly, all turning to look at him.

The overhead lights fell on the man’s handsome face, casting sharp, angular shadows that made him look cold and brooding.

He was clearly furious.

Had they said something wrong?

Had they managed to anger this big shot?

The man who had started the conversation spoke awkwardly, “Young Master Hudson, I was just talking about my friend Jay, who’s the other man in a relationship, I didn’t say it was you...”

Stephan narrowed his eyes, grinding his back teeth silently.

Every word wasn’t directed at him, yet it felt as though every word was aimed squarely at him. Rage welled up in his chest, and his thin lips twitched. “What’s wrong with being the other man? Does that mean the other man isn’t worthy of finding true love?”

“He finally found the woman he loves and is willing to risk everything to win her heart, is there something wrong with that?”

The man blinked, confused. Well...”

Stephan scoffed. “As his friend, making jokes about his feelings behind his back, I’m truly ashamed of you on his behalf!”

The man’s face flushed with embarrassment; he was clearly at a loss.

He didn’t even understand what he’d done wrong. He’d just been joking around, everyone was chatting and laughing why was Stephan picking on him?

He felt genuinely wronged.

Stephan suddenly lost all interest in staying. He stood up, his tone icy.

“I have things to do. I’m leaving.”

With that, he grabbed the little white rabbit, which seemed completely out of place with his demeanor, and strode out.

Seeing Stephan leave, the crowd exchanged bewildered glances, completely at a loss for words.

Only Gary stared in the direction Stephan had left, his gaze filled with deep meaning.

After leaving the Spring club, Stephan drove to the building where Alana lived.

He glanced at the little white rabbit stuffed animal in the passenger seat.

Originally, he had gone to the mall intending to buy a gift for Gary.

Then he spotted this little white rabbit and, on a whim, bought it.

After bringing it to the party, Gary snatched it away, but he didn’t want to give it to him, so he decisively snatched the little white rabbit back.

Now, looking closely at the little white rabbit, hugging and licking a carrot, looking adorably dazed and exuding a certain air of innocence.

It looked just like that woman, Alana.

Didn’t he often think Alana looked like a silly little white rabbit?

So he decided not to give this little white rabbit to Gary.

If he were to give one away, it should be to Alana, that little white rabbit. And so, he ended up driving over to her place on a whim.

Stephan couldn’t help but pinch the bridge of his nose. It seemed like he’d been influenced by her more and more lately.

He wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing.

Thinking back to the people at the party just now, mocking him one after another, calling him a male mistress, a pathetic, shameless man...

It left him feeling thoroughly unsettled.
