Chapter 69: Chapter 69 Had it coming

It might look clean and tidy, but it was still tiny.

Last night, when he lay on her small bed, he couldn’t even stretch his legs out.

The bathroom was the same, just a tiny space that could barely fit two or three people.

If he were to stay over here again in the future, he might not sleep as comfortably.

And if they were to have sex in the bathroom, they would literally be sandwiched together.

Now thinking about it, he wouldn’t mind the “Sandwiched” part though.

Alana refused flatly, “No, thanks.”

She wasn’t foolish enough to give the man a second chance to come over.

Stephan showed no surprise.

He’d guessed she wouldn’t budge.

Alana clenched her teeth slightly and looked at him. “I’m heading to work now.”

In other words, it was time for him to leave. Stephan could tell the girl was still upset, so he decided to cut his losses.

“Alright, I’ll go change.”

After a moment’s pause, he added with a smile, “Oh, and Miss Martin, could you please wash the dirty clothes in the bathroom? I’ll come pick them up when I have time.”

Alana gasped.

Stephan grabbed another bag and headed to the bathroom to change.

She couldn’t be bothered to ask where the clothes came from; all she wanted now was for him to leave as soon as possible.

She quickly gathered her things to get ready for work.

Finally, she glanced at her bed.

She wondered if she should take the sheets off and wash them again.

After all, it had a strange smell.

But if she was going to wash it, she’d have to do it when she got home tonight;

she had to rush to work now.

Besides, that smell on the bed, it felt somewhat familiar, as if...

Alana bit her lip, her cheeks flushing involuntarily.

She did her best to suppress the urge to dwell on it further.

Hmm, that possibility she’d just thought of, she must be overthinking it.

It must be.

********

Alana had originally planned to cook a bowl of noodles at home before heading out, but with that jerk around, she had neither the appetite nor the mood.

She waited patiently for him to get dressed and come out.

When she saw him, fully dressed in a suit and tie, he looked cool and handsome, dignified and self-possessed, exuding the mature aura of a stoic heartthrob.

Who would have thought that once he took his clothes off, he’d be so sexy and naughty?

A classic case of a hypocrite, all polished and respectable on the outside.

Alana reached out to open the door and looked at him. “Time to go.”

Stephan strolled leisurely over to her side. “Let me take you to work.”

Alana clenched her teeth. “No need. I’ll ride my scooter.”

Stephan fixed his gaze on her for a moment, then let it go.

“Alright, be careful on your way.”

Alana let him leave first, then followed behind. She just didn’t dare get too close to him. She didn’t even want to ride the elevator with him.

She was afraid someone might find out she’d let him stay over at her place for the night.

Stephan chuckled and simply pulled the girl behind him close, stepping into the elevator together.

He glanced at her, completely unfazed.

“What are you so nervous about? If anyone finds out, I’ll take full responsibility for you.”

She puffed out her cheeks.

“Taking responsibility for her” how easy it was to say, without even asking if she agreed.

The elevator doors opened.

Alana quickly shook off the man’s hand and slipped out without a moment’s delay.

Seeing the girl’s slender figure hurrying away, Stephan’s eyes darkened.

Running so fast, was she that resistant to his approach?

Or perhaps his behavior last night had been too forward, causing her to develop a

distaste for him?

He had simply been away on business for too long and missed her a little; he’d just wanted to spend time with her.

He’d intended to stay just a little while before leaving.

But human greed was insatiable; once you get something, you always want more.

So he thick-skinnedly decided to stay.

Little did he know that his eagerness would only end up turning her off.

He kept telling himself, “Haste makes waste; take it slow.”

Yet every time he saw her, he couldn’t control himself and always acted on impulse.

Oh well, if he couldn’t control himself, so be it.

Anyway, now that he had set his sights on her, she won’t be able to escape his grasp.

************

Alana arrived at the office, going through the same routine of clocking in day after day.

When she arrived at the project department and turned on her computer, she could still hear her colleagues gossiping.

They said Vera hadn’t been to the office for several days, and that she seemed to have decided to quit.

After all, having lost so much face at the company, she probably didn’t have the nerve to stay any longer.

They also said that after the company fired Dane, a new project manager would be brought in from outside.

They speculated about whether the new project manager would be male or female, how old they’d be, and whether they’d be attractive or not.

Alana wasn’t really interested.

After all, she was just an intern who hadn’t been officially hired yet, so she didn’t need to worry about too many things.

Work when there was work to do; slack off when there wasn’t.

It was that simple.

While she was goofing off during a break, she saw a message from Luca.

He asked if she was free today to come over and check on his two pets.

If she was free, he asked what time frame would work so he could make arrangements.

Alana replied.

Alana: I’m free after I get off work at six.

Luca: Where’s your workplace? Do you need me to pick you up?

Alana didn’t want to trouble him.

Alana: No need, I’ll just take a taxi over.

Luca didn’t press the issue.

Luca: Alright.

The conversation came to an abrupt halt.

Just as Alana was about to put her phone down, she received another new message on WhatsApp.

It was from Stephan.

And, as if by some strange impulse, she tapped on it.

The man had sent a photo.

When she tapped on it, it was a selfie of him.

That chiseled, flawlessly handsome face, perfect from every angle, suddenly burst into her line of sight.

Staring at his face, so strikingly handsome it seemed almost inhuman, Alana instinctively held her breath.

What the hell was this jerk sending her a selfie for?

Was he trying to show off how handsome he is and charm her?

He was really quite full of himself.

The next second, the man sent another message.

Stephan: Miss Martin, you really bit down hard last night. My lips are still throbbing. You’re responsible for this.

She scoffed.

Alana couldn’t help but glance at the man’s lips.

A pale, pink scab stood out prominently on his sensual upper lip.

His eyes were deep and intense, his thick eyebrows arched slightly, and his knuckled index finger even lightly tapped that pale scab, the meaning was clear.

The thought that he was currently wandering around with a lip she’d bitten open and scabbed over made her face flush uncontrollably.

She clenched her teeth and typed out a message.

Alana: I’m not responsible!

It was clearly him who had forced a kiss on her, yet he acted as if he were in the right.

He got bitten, he had it coming!
