Chapter 145: Chapter 145 Several times
Stephan thought for a moment, then picked up the red tie Alana had given him and turned to enter the bathroom.
In the bathroom, the man stood in front of the mirror by the sink, draping the tie around his neck without tying it, leaving it hanging loosely.
He shoved his hands into his pockets, tilted his smoothly chiseled chin slightly upward, and leisurely admired his own striking appearance.
The man in the mirror wore a black shirt with the top two buttons undone, revealing a patch of delicate collarbone with a sensual, alluring curve.
Paired with the casually draped red tie hanging down on either side of his chest, his aura was brimming with a mix of allure and flirtation.
Yet the man hadn’t even noticed; he thought he looked absolutely stunning.
He curved his lips into a slow smile, his dark eyes sparkling. “No wonder, it’s a gift from the girl I like. It really suits me.”
Suddenly, as if a thought struck him, he pulled out his phone and snapped a photo of his reflection in the mirror, making sure to capture the red tie draped around his neck.
Then, he silently opened his group chat with his buddies and sent the photo over.
Stephan:[First time getting a gift from my girlfriend, the red tie around my neck. Does it suit me?]
The group immediately exploded with countless teasing, some were puzzled and sleepless, some sent eye-rolling emojis.
[Stephan, you’re not the first man to be in a relationship. Stop running it in our faces!]
Stephan curled the corners of his lips and replied leisurely.
Stephan: [I know you’re jealous, but don’t get too jealous. After all, not every guy gets a gift from his girlfriend.]
Buddy #1: [Stephan, don’t be so coy!]
Buddy #2: [ I hope you don’t bring this attitude when we hang out, otherwise, I’ll drink myself to death!]
Buddy #3: [Single guys have lives too!!!]
Buddy #4: Who’s jealous?! I’m not jealous! In fact, I’m going to block you!]
A whole bunch of sour comments flooded the screen.
Stephan watched with quiet satisfaction.
Suddenly, Gary chimed in.
Gary: [Wait, bro, did you really succeed?]
Stephan frowned.
Gary just had to remind him of how hard it was to get Alana.
The other guys in the group instantly sensed the scent of gossip and started asking questions.
[What do you mean, ‘succeed’?!]
[Don’t tell me the almighty Stephan was pursuing a girl for long]
[Is there some juicy gossip we’re not supposed to know?!]
[Don’t leave us hanging, spill the rest of the story!]
However, before Gary could open his mouth to spill the beans, a message suddenly popped up in the group chat.
Gary had been muted by the group admin.
He gasped.
**********
Alana went to Luca’s house and took Ollie and Jerry out for a walk.
She thought to herself, "I’d better finish this walk and get out of here."
After all, her lower back was still sore from what had happened last night.
Alana said to the cat and dog, “Ollie, Jerry, tonight’s walk might be a bit shorter. Let’s just stroll around here; we won’t go to the park.”
The moment the golden retriever and the big orange cat heard this, their tails drooped instantly, and they looked utterly dejected.
Alana felt a twinge of guilt. Maybe she should...
Just as she was thinking that, a gentle voice interrupted her.
“Hello!”
Alana looked up to see a familiar, graceful figure slowly walking toward her.
As she drew closer, Alana realized that this woman was actually the blind date who
had been with Stephan last time.
Darla walked straight up to her and smiled warmly. “Do you recognize me?”
Alana hadn’t expected Stephan’s blind date to suddenly greet her; she nodded
nervously. “I do.”
After all, how could she not recognize someone who had been so intimate with her Stephan?
She had been deeply surprised, and deeply bothered.
Darla was quite the social butterfly. “Why aren’t you here with your boyfriend today?”
She remembered that the last time this girl had been out with her boyfriend, they’d been walking their cat and dog.
Alana looked at Darla as she walked up to her, feeling a bit puzzled. Last time, wasn’t she terrified of that big golden retriever?
Why wasn’t she afraid this time?
And she even came over to say hello on her own?!
Still, she gave the big golden retriever a look, hinting for it to behave and not scare the passersby.
The golden retriever stuck out its tongue and wagged its tail, as if in response. Only then did Alana say to Darla, “He’s not my boyfriend.”
Darla looked slightly surprised. “He isn’t?You two look like a great match. I actually thought you were a couple.”
Alana smiled, though her smile was a bit awkward. “We’re not.”
Darla laughed. “Just because you’re not now doesn’t mean you won’t be in the future. I think you two could end up together.”
Alana blinked.
This was so awkward.
Were they even close?
Talking about this right off the bat.
Darla suddenly spoke up, “Do you remember the man who was with me last time?”
Alana paused for a moment. “I remember.”
Well, she was currently dating the man so...
Darla blinked and asked, “He was handsome, wasn’t he?”
Alana paused for a moment, then nodded. “Yeah.”
Darla smiled again. “Good. Let me tell you, he was my blind date. Even though it was just a blind date, my parents and his parents are both very pleased with us. We’re a good match, so we’ll probably end up getting married.”
“If we end up together, I’ll invite you and that guy from last time to our wedding reception. We’re practically neighbors and I want us to get along.”
Also, the reason she’d had her first intimate moment with Stephan last time was thanks to the dog’s help.
If things work out, inviting the owners of the dogs to the wedding wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Alana clenched her fingers a little tighter, her breathing becoming slightly labored. “You... are you two... planning to get married soon?”
Darla nodded. “Yes, we are planning to. His mother has been urging him to get
married as soon as possible. Barring any unexpected circumstances, I’d say it’ll happen sometime this year.”
Alana’s heart skipped a beat, as if it had suddenly been struck by a heavy hammer, a sharp yet dull pain that left her feeling utterly miserable.
It took her a long time to find her voice. “Do you like him?”
Darla smiled. “I like him quite a bit. He’s exactly my type. Not only is he handsome and in great shape, but he’s also very accomplished.”
As for just how accomplished he was, she didn’t go into detail, afraid Alana might develop an interest in her man.
Yeah to Darla, Stephan was already here.
Also, Alana was very beautiful, which made her feel quite threatened.
Besides, she’d already spotted Alana walking her pet in the neighborhood several
times. After learning that the man who’d been with Alana that night wasn’t her boyfriend, she feared Alana might set her sights on the man she liked, so she staked her claim early.
Alana paused for two seconds before asking, “You like him, but does he like you?”
Darla’s smile froze and she felt a bit deflated because she had made her move many times, and every time, the results had been less than ideal.
Last week, she’d heard he was away on a business trip, so she hadn’t seen him for over a week.
Now that she heard he was back from his business trip, she’d rushed out, hoping to get lucky and bump into him, to have a chance encounter.
But to her surprise, she was disappointed. How was she supposed to see him?!
However, Darla, with her strong sense of pride, would never admit she couldn’t win over a man.
So she told Alana, “He’s definitely going to fall for me.”
Alana’s eyes lost some of their sparkle.
After a pause, Darla added, “Besides, his mother really likes me. With her matchmaking, we’ll end up together sooner or later.”
Alana didn’t know what to say.
At that moment, her throat felt as if it were stuffed with a wad of cotton, leaving her
completely choked up.
Of course, it wasn’t just her throat that felt blocked, it was her beating heart as well. The golden retriever and the big orange cat seemed to sense her low spirits; in an instant, they both turned hostile toward Darla.
The cat and the dog glared fiercely at her. The golden retriever even barked at Darla several times.
