Chapter 141: CH. 141 | The Sect Leader’s Duty

He wasted no time leaving the area, and An Yue, curious, flew off alongside them.

Their destination was the gate in front of the sect, where a long line of cultivators had gathered to register.

By the time Lin Tian arrived, everything Wu Yue had said turned out to be true.

Several cultivators were flying through the sky on their sword qi, all wearing the same green and white sect robes.

Lin Tian narrowed his eyes and flew out beyond the sect’s formation, standing there flanked by Cao Ying and Wu Yue on either side.

He came face to face with them almost immediately, one of the male cultivators flying closer to Lin Tian, an elder with a Core Formation cultivation base.

"Greetings, Senior," the man said, clasping his hands together and bowing his head.

"Is there a reason you’ve come here?" Lin Tian asked.

"I’ve come to take back my disciples. How dare you take them in, knowing full well they belong to me?!" he snapped.

Lin Tian glanced down and saw several cultivators wearing the same sect robes as the man.

Still, it wasn’t something he found troubling. He understood that they had every right to pursue whatever cultivation path suited them.

"They registered on their own, I never forced them. And I happen to be short on disciples myself. So wouldn’t it make more sense for me to just accept them?" Lin Tian asked.

"Do you even realize what you’ve done? You’re challenging the Huntian Sect!"

"Huntian Sect? That’s the first time I’ve ever heard that name," Lin Tian answered.

He stepped forward and stomped his foot against the ground, his cultivation pressure slamming into their bodies without mercy, sending them crumpling to their knees.

The man and the cultivators who’d come with him stood utterly powerless, none of them possessing anything close to the strength needed to face Lin Tian, a Perfect Nascent Soul cultivator.

The closer Lin Tian walked toward them, the heavier the pressure crushing down on them grew, spiraling out of control until more than a few of them started coughing up blood.

"You... you’ve gone too far! Our sect leader won’t just sit back and let this slide."

The elder produced a teleportation token and activated it. A pillar of green light shot up into the sky, carrying with it a powerful surge of qi.

Someone stepped out from within that teleportation light, an old man with a long white beard, standing at Perfect Nascent Soul, the same stage as Lin Tian.

He landed on the floor of the sky with a powerful burst of qi.

His eyes fixed straight ahead, locking onto the man in the white and gray robe standing there, hands folded calmly behind his back.

"Sect Leader Hun... please, help us!"

The old man turned and calmed them, lifting the cultivation pressure crushing their bodies. With that, they were finally freed from the weight of Lin Tian’s pressure.

Once they were safe and freed, the man looked straight ahead, locking eyes with Lin Tian.

"Brat! Do you have any idea what you’ve just done?!" he said firmly, anger radiating off him alongside a powerful surge of qi.

A fierce gust of wind swept across Lin Tian’s face and hair. Still, he showed no sign of fear. If anything, he simply walked closer toward the man, the Sect Leader of the Huntian Sect.

"This all started when your elder showed up trying to take his disciples back," Lin Tian answered.

"They’re disciples of the Huntian Sect. They had no business joining your sect," the man shot back.

"I never forced any of them. They made that choice entirely on their own."

The white bearded man turned his head to the side, looking toward the 12 Huntian Sect disciples still standing in line at the Lingxian Sect’s registration queue, all 12 of them still at the Qi Condensation stage.

With his cultivation pressure, he slammed into them hard, sending them crashing face down onto the ground, injured and coughing up blood.

Lin Tian watched what was happening. He immediately raised his hand and cut off the Huntian Sect Leader’s intimidation.

With Lin Tian’s intervention, the 12 disciples were freed at once.

"You?!"

"You’re throwing away your own dignity, just to bully 12 Qi Condensation cultivators," Lin Tian answered.

"What right do you have to lecture me? I am Hun Zhi, Sect Leader of the Huntian Sect. My sect is far stronger than yours," Hun Zhi declared.

Lin Tian turned to look at the 12 cultivators. He figured that if he let them go back, they’d end up tortured and punished for what they’d done.

The best way to save their lives was to simply accept them as new disciples of the Lingxian Sect.

He turned back to face forward and watched as Hun Zhi grew aggressive, radiating a powerful, thunderous qi aura from his body.

"You want to start a fight over them?" Lin Tian asked.

"I’ll show you exactly how much stronger I am than you," Hun Zhi declared firmly.

Using his own technique, Hun Zhi unleashed a green serpent strike aimed straight at Lin Tian.

Lin Tian reacted instantly, forming a technique seal and summoning a white dragon strike of his own to meet it.

The white dragon clashed against the power of the green serpent.

Lin Tian pushed the intensity of his attack higher, eroding the green serpent’s strength until it was completely destroyed.

BLAST!

A powerful burst of qi rocked the sky, startling everyone present.

Still, not a single one of them doubted Lin Tian’s ability, especially not the disciples of the Lingxian Sect.

Lin Tian remained unharmed, his technique having successfully overpowered the green serpent.

Hun Zhi, on the other hand, was struck and sent flying backward.

"Who exactly are you?" Hun Zhi asked, furious.

"I’m Lin Tian, Sect Leader of the Lingxian Sect."

"Lin Tian?! The one who’s wiped out so many sects?!" Hun Zhi shouted.

He summoned his Soul Splitting Whip and moved forward fast. When he reached Hun Zhi, he swung the whip, striking the old man’s body directly.

Each lash from Lin Tian’s whip was enough to inflict grievous wounds on Hun Zhi, though the cost was Lin Tian’s own energy draining drastically with each strike.

Hun Zhi was sent stumbling backward, badly wounded, his Nascent Soul itself injured.

The white bearded man began to panic. He realized there was no way he could ever defeat Lin Tian’s strength.

"Forget it! Just take my lowly disciples. They mean nothing to me."

Hun Zhi and the rest of the Huntian Sect members fled, leaving the Lingxian Sect’s territory behind.

Cao Ying watched them run and offered to chase them down, but Lin Tian refused.

"No need," Lin Tian said, and Cao Ying obeyed.

Lin Tian’s attention turned back down toward the 12 cultivators from the Huntian Sect, who clasped their hands together and bowed in gratitude.

"Since you’re all now candidates to become new disciples of the Lingxian Sect, I’ll make sure you’re protected."

"Because it’s my duty as Sect Leader of the Lingxian Sect to look after every one of my disciples."
