Chapter 140: CH. 140 | Ambition to Find Enlightenment

The exhaustion that had taken over her body made An Yue fall asleep on the soft grass near the stream from the waterfall.

Using his qi manipulation, Lin Tian directed it toward An Yue’s body to get her dressed again.

Elsewhere, Lin Tian sat on a large rock near the waterfall pond area. He sat cross-legged and cultivated while waiting for An Yue to wake up.

He had no intention of waking her since she had been so clearly worn out.

Qi flowed from the surrounding area into Lin Tian’s body, passing through his meridians and filling his dantian with a substantial amount of spiritual qi.

He became aware of one thing. His cultivation base would not rise until Lin Tian found his own dao concept.

To reach Soul Formation, the most essential requirement for any cultivator was to achieve that understanding.

With a dao concept as the foundation, his heavenly path would become clearer, and the door to immortality would open wide.

Even so, countless Perfect Nascent Soul cultivators had been trapped at that stage because they failed to grasp the dao concept.

Not because they had stopped searching, but because their hearts were uncertain and they failed to understand what heavenly insight actually looked like.

Their hearts kept shifting without cause, creating inconsistency and planting doubt about the path ahead.

He was fully aware that the heavens were harsh, without sentiment, and without mercy.

But through that unforgiving nature, cultivators were tempered well, not to resist the heavens but to follow them and walk the path the heavens had laid out.

Lin Tian let out a slow breath. He stopped cultivating when the qi aura in his body began to stabilize, even showing signs of breakthrough momentum.

But continuing to cultivate without being able to find his dao concept was pointless.

To other cultivators, the qi aura radiating from Lin Tian might resemble that of a Soul Formation cultivator, but in truth his base was still Perfect Nascent Soul.

He opened his eyes and rose from the rock, stepping across the water without creating so much as a ripple, his gaze fixed on the evening sky as the sun began to set.

I won’t make any meaningful progress... if I don’t find my dao concept soon.

Among the many paths he could take, his heart and mind kept returning to the Saintess Spring Valley.

That was the most ideal place to form a dao concept, to solidify his dao heart, and to find his heavenly path alongside the soul of the Saintess imprisoned there.

While Lin Tian was deep in thought, an unexpected disciple task panel appeared in front of him, showing that An Yue’s disciple task had been completed, even though the girl was still sound asleep on the soft warm grass.

[3rd An Yue Disciple Task:]

[Objective: Practice two Profound-Grade techniques within six months]

[Reward:]

[Disciple: Chance to break through cultivation stage || +100 Low-Grade Spirit Stones || 1x Profound-Grade Weapon || +10 Emotional Level]

[Host: Chance to break through cultivation stage || +250 Low-Grade Spirit Stones || 1x Earth-Grade Technique]

[Status: Completed!]

[Status Vision:]

[Emotional Level: Attraction (90/250)] [+10]

The system panel showed that An Yue’s 3rd disciple task had been a success, accompanied by rewards appearing in front of Lin Tian in the form of two pouches of spirit stones, a weapon, and a technique scroll.

The technique scroll was Earth-Grade, something An Yue couldn’t yet study with her current cultivation base. But it was well suited for Lin Tian himself.

Beyond that, he noticed a profound-grade weapon floating in front of him, shaped like a sword with a gray blade and carrying a fairly strong qi aura momentum.

As something to give to An Yue, Lin Tian’s choice landed on that sword.

I’ll give it to her after An Yue wakes up.

[4th An Yue Disciple Task:]

[Objective: Practice two profound-grade wind element techniques within one year. The disciple must find the techniques on her own.]

[Reward:]

[Disciple: Chance to break through cultivation stage || +100 Low-Grade Spirit Stones || 1x Profound-Grade Technique Scroll || +10 Emotional Level]

[Host: Chance to break through cultivation stage || +250 Low-Grade Spirit Stones || 1x Earth-Grade Sword]

[Status: Incomplete!]

After her third task was done, Lin Tian saw the fourth mission for An Yue arrive. As before, she would need to learn two profound-grade wind element techniques.

But the difference this time was that the mission required An Yue to find those techniques on her own, not with Lin Tian’s help and not through something simply handed to her.

Not just An Yue, but I should apply the same to the other disciples as well. Let them grow and see what the cultivation world outside is like.

Lin Tian stored the items in his bag of holding. His attention immediately shifted to the side, watching An Yue stir on the ground. She would likely be waking up soon.

Her eyes opened and her head turned. Her face was half-drowsy as she looked at Lin Tian standing and hovering above the surface of the waterfall pond.

An Yue only then became aware of what had happened before. She instinctively looked down at her body and was genuinely surprised to find herself wearing her sect robe again.

"Did we...?"

"Yes," Lin Tian said simply, making An Yue’s expression shift slightly in shock.

"I didn’t expect... I mean, I’m glad we’ve become this close," An Yue replied.

Lin Tian smiled softly and stepped toward An Yue, reaching out and taking her hand firmly.

He tried to put her at ease by telling her everything was fine. An Yue didn’t need to worry. Lin Tian had made her a promise and he had kept it, protecting what she held dear.

Hearing that brought An Yue genuine relief. Nothing had happened to her. Lin Tian had taken care of her well and made certain her purity remained intact.

The two of them stood and looked at each other, wide smiles spreading across their faces as their eyes met.

In the middle of that closeness, Lin Tian was caught off guard by the arrival of Wu Yue and Cao Ying. They had come to the peak of Taixuan Mountain to find him.

They met with Lin Tian and could see him clearly, standing near the bamboo forest by the waterfall stream.

Lin Tian’s attention shifted to them, "What is it?"

"A group of cultivators from another sect has arrived. They’re demanding you take responsibility," Wu Yue replied.

"Take responsibility?"

"They’re from the sect of some of the new disciples who signed up. It seems they’re unhappy that you recruited them," Wu Yue explained.

"The choice to join a sect is a cultivator’s right. I have absolutely no authority to stop them," Lin Tian replied.

"Alright. I’ll deal with them myself."
