Chapter 530: Chapter 530: A Pair of Rings
Gu Shiting is about to take his college entrance exams.
Unlike other candidates, he wasn’t nervous, and his family had a rather casual attitude about it.
Sheng Tang, on the other hand, was the one most worried.
She was like a parent, reminding him to study well and leave nothing to chance.
"If I become the top science student in the city, how will you congratulate me?" Gu Shiting asked.
Sheng Tang thought for a moment, "What do you want?"
Gu Shiting responded with a mysterious smile.
"Wear a pair of rings, okay?" he said.
Deep down, he regarded Sheng Tang as his girlfriend but was afraid she might reject him, so he kept testing the waters discreetly.
Sheng Tang: "..."
"You buy them, just the simplest ones, silver is fine," Gu Shiting said.
Sheng Tang, like a parent before their child’s college entrance exams, agreed to every unreasonable demand first.
"Alright, I’ll buy them," Sheng Tang said, "But you must work hard and get the top science score in the city for me."
Only then did Gu Shiting stop being so nonchalant.
While studying seriously, he also told Sheng Tang his ring size.
On the weekend, Sheng Tang finished writing the last few Chapters of "Alice in Wonderland" in her own words and had nothing much to do at home.
Jiang Baocu happened to call her, inviting her to go shopping.
Sheng Tang went.
On the first floor of the mall, there was jewelry. Sheng Tang, without knowing why, pulled Jiang Baocu to take a look.
Jiang Baocu bought things impulsively whenever she saw something she liked.
Soon, she was distracted by a necklace and asked the attendant to show it to her.
Sheng Tang was browsing the pairs of rings nearby.
The platinum rings were indeed not expensive; getting two wouldn’t cost much.
She noticed a simple pair, without any patterns or embellishments, which caught her eye.
The attendant came over, very polite and attentive, "Miss, would you like to take a look? You can try them on."
Sheng Tang had money on her, and she happened to find something she liked.
She asked for a size, Gu Shiting’s size: "Do you have this size for men?"
The attendant said the sizes were comprehensive and all available.
Sheng Tang tried it on.
The woman’s ring was small and delicate, a white metal circle wrapped around her middle finger, slightly cool and hard, as if it had clasped her heart.
The attendant said beside her, "Miss, your hands are very beautiful, and this ring looks good on you as well."
Sheng Tang glanced at Jiang Baocu, who was still engrossed in trying on necklaces, and took advantage of her distraction to tell the attendant, "I’ll take these two rings. No need for a bag, just wrap them up and put them in my purse. I’ll go with you to pay."
The attendant was very accommodating and promptly put the rings into a small box, handing it directly to Sheng Tang.
Then, she led Sheng Tang to the cashier.
Sheng Tang bought the rings and paid, all in one go, and when she returned, Jiang Baocu had not yet finished trying them on.
"Why so slow?" Sheng Tang asked.
Jiang Baocu said, "I can’t decide, I like them all."
Sheng Tang checked; she had tried on six or seven necklaces.
"All of them?"
"No," Jiang Baocu said, "I’ll take at most three."
She had many pieces of jewelry, and even more expensive ones. These necklaces costing several thousand yuan each were something she would probably wear only once or twice, so she bought them just for fun.
"Pick two," Sheng Tang said, "More than that is a waste. These two are good."
She pointed out two.
They were styles that Jiang Baocu liked.
Jiang Baocu agreed and decided to buy only two.
While paying, Jiang Baocu asked Sheng Tang, "Did you buy anything?"
"No," Sheng Tang hesitated, turning her face away, to prevent Jiang Baocu from seeing the lie on her face.
Jiang Baocu: "Want to look some more?"
"I’ve looked enough. Nothing in particular that I like," Sheng Tang said.
