Chapter 525: Chapter 525: Parental Satisfaction

This time, Sheng Tang did not refuse Gu Shiting.

She changed into a light green long dress, simply tied her hair into a ponytail, and followed Gu Shiting.

Gu Shiting’s maternal grandfather’s house has the surname Qiu, and the old man is currently living in a nursing home.

The nursing home is of a national level, a specialized medical facility for retired officials, with a serene environment amidst the hustle and bustle.

Guards stand at the entrance. They passed through several layers of security and finally met Gu Shiting’s grandfather in a private ward on the twelfth floor.

The entire twelfth floor has only four wards; the rest are resting rooms.

The old man lives in one of them, while the other three are vacant, making the twelfth floor seem spacious.

But it is not desolate.

From a distance, Sheng Tang heard Gu Shiyan’s laughter, clear and pleasant. Her solitary voice seemed to fill the entire space.

Sheng Tang followed Gu Shiting inside.

Gu Shiting always held her hand. Approaching the door of the ward, he whispered to her, "Don’t be nervous."

Sheng Tang was not nervous.

Actually, she wished she could be a little nervous, fearing the old man might see through her aged soul. However, she was probably used to various occasions and had a steady heart rate, with no impulse to flinch.

Gu Shiting, however, inexplicably had sweaty palms.

Sheng Tang didn’t know what he was worried about at the moment.

They entered the ward, only to see a tall elderly man half lying on a white bed.

He looked tall, probably well-built in his youth, not gaining weight in old age, with a straight body and a slender back refusing to bow.

His hair had turned white, and the wrinkles on his face carved by time showed traces of authority.

The ward only had Gu Shiyan in it.

She sat beside him, continuously talking, occasionally making the old man smile.

Upon seeing Sheng Tang and Gu Shiting, the old man’s gaze fell on Sheng Tang, nodding slightly.

"Grandpa, are you feeling okay?" Gu Shiting led Sheng Tang to the bed and leaned slightly to ask.

The old man nodded, "Nothing serious, just the family making a fuss."

"Glad to hear that."

Gu Shiting breathed a sigh of relief, then pulled Sheng Tang forward a bit. "Grandpa, this is Tangtang."

"Hello," Sheng Tang said with a smile.

The old man looked at her, noting that her eyes indeed resembled those of Gu Shiting’s late grandmother.

She dressed casually, with her hair simply tied in a ponytail. Even with a plain face, her lips were red and teeth white, and her pupils were black and warm—a very pretty young girl.

Ting’s taste is not bad.

"Sit." The old man said to Sheng Tang, "Yanyan, go get a chair."

Gu Shiyan stood up promptly and brought two chairs for Gu Shiting and Sheng Tang from against the wall.

The two sat down.

The old man observed Sheng Tang further and asked, "How old are you this year?"

"Eighteen, turning nineteen this year."

"Very good." The old man nodded.

He asked about Sheng Tang’s grades in school, adopting a conversational tone.

Sheng Tang answered matter-of-factly.

The old man subtly included a tricky question, asking her, "Are you accustomed to being with Ting?"

Hinting that Sheng Tang and Gu Shiting were not meant to be together, she had altered her path to be with him and should feel unaccustomed.

Sheng Tang responded calmly.

The old man observed her and could tell from a few questions that this girl was poised and articulate.

Her speech neither belittled her nor made her seem proud.

She could gauge others’ thoughts, with every word fittingly spoken.

"Ting is rather tongue-tied and somewhat wooden in dealing with people. This girl is excellent; they complement each other well," thought the old man.

Thinking this, he became more cordial towards Sheng Tang, almost with a sense of affection, as if Sheng Tang was already his granddaughter-in-law.
