Chapter 526: Chapter 526: Sheng Tang is the Dawn
They chatted for a while, and then the doctor came to do rounds.
The elderly man felt a bit sleepy and said to the kids drowsily, "You should go out for a bit, take a walk nearby."
Several people left the ward.
There was a family lounge nearby, and a restaurant downstairs offering quite decent meals.
"Let’s go have a cup of coffee," Gu Shiyan suggested.
Sheng Tang agreed.
The three of them took the elevator to the restaurant on the first basement floor and each ordered a cup of coffee.
The coffee tasted as good as that from outside stores, very delicious.
"Tangtang, were you scared when you met my grandfather?" Gu Shiyan asked with a smile, "Many people are at a loss for words when they meet him for the first time; you seemed alright."
Sheng Tang was indeed alright.
The elderly man had tested her with a few questions but without malice, perhaps just wanting to see how she handled problems, showing a very inclusive attitude.
Sheng Tang was always very sensitive to others’ goodwill and hostility.
She wasn’t particularly nervous to begin with, and seeing the elderly man being exceptionally caring towards her made her even less afraid.
However...
She hadn’t figured out her relationship with Gu Shiting yet. Why couldn’t someone from his family oppose it even a little? Maybe, if Sheng Tang got some external stimulus, she would sort out the chaos.
Or, provide her with an excuse to escape.
However, everyone in the Gu Family, including a grandfather who had seen all kinds of storms in life, was supporting them.
What Sheng Tang didn’t know was that Gu Shiting’s situation had persisted for ten years, and everyone in his family was prepared for him to possibly stay alone for life.
After all, he couldn’t interact with others, causing physiological changes.
Sheng Tang’s appearance was the only ray of hope.
As long as it was for Gu Shiting’s well-being, who would harbour animosity towards such hope?
They’d rather worship Sheng Tang and pray that she could accompany Gu Shiting for a long time.
The resistance Sheng Tang wanted didn’t exist at all.
The three of them had coffee downstairs, then dinner, before going back upstairs to check on the elderly man.
The elderly man was asleep, but not restfully.
Gu Shiyan said to them, "You two should go back first. It will be too late soon. I’ll stay with grandfather tonight. Uncle and Xiao Ru will come back tomorrow."
"We won’t go back," Gu Shiting said, "Sis, you should go back. We have school tomorrow; you can be here during the day."
The lounge here could accommodate up to three or four family members.
Gu Shiyan was returning to the film set the day after tomorrow. She had been filming in a nearby city and rushed back after hearing about her grandfather’s illness, getting three days off temporarily.
So, she wanted to stay a few more days if possible.
"How about we all stay?" Gu Shiyan suggested finally.
Gu Shiting did not argue with her anymore.
A bit past nine in the evening, Sheng Tang and Gu Shiting sat in the elderly man’s ward, one reading a book and the other playing on the phone, while Gu Shiyan talked softly on the phone in the corridor.
At that moment, the elderly man woke up.
"Why are you still here?" He frowned, his brows knitted together, "You don’t need to stay overnight, there are nurses here."
"Grandfather, it’s fine," Gu Shiting said, "Do you want to eat something?"
The elderly man extended his hand to him.
Gu Shiting helped him to the restroom, then back to sit half upright.
When he stood up, Sheng Tang noticed he was only slightly shorter than Gu Shiting, probably due to age. He must have been taller and more imposing when he was young.
Sitting down, the elderly man sighed, "I don’t know why, but I dreamt of your grandmother again."
