Chapter 369: Make A Decision (II)
Queen Rong frowned upon hearing this. Indeed, she could not ask Ruan Chanchan to stay in their tribe when she already had kids with another mer. If she did such a thing, then she was worried that everyone would start calling her a tyrant. She turned to her son and wanted to convince him, but before she could even open her mouth, Rong Xian stubbornly said, "I am not going to let her go. She is my mate, and she should follow me; who are you to tell me otherwise?"
"Rong Xian, that’s enough." Queen Rong could not help but frown when she heard Rong Xian’s stubborn words. She glanced at her son with some dissatisfaction, as she could see that the totem warriors from the Big Bear Tribe were slowly losing their patience. She was not scared of a fight, but she was worried that her son would end up breaking Ruan Chanchan’s heart. Even though the Big Bear Tribe was not strong, it was still a place where Ruan Chanchan grew up; if they tore faces in such a manner, there was a very good chance that her son might lose Ruan Chanchan’s affection for him completely.
And to make matters worse, there was not much affection between the two of them; at most, Ruan Chanchan felt responsible for what happened and other than that, there was nothing between the two of them. Her son would make things difficult for himself if he continued to escalate the matter beyond what he already had.
Rong Xian, however, felt annoyed. He had done nothing wrong. He had tried to fight for the woman, who belonged to him, and there was nothing wrong with fighting for what he owned. He turned to look at his mother, determined to make her see sense, but then he noticed the gaze with which his mother was looking at him. It was clear that she did not want him to make any more fuss, even though he was in the right. Why?
Was his mother not the one who taught him that he should always fight for his stance when he was right? Now, why was she asking him to stay clear of this path?
Of course, Queen Rong wanted her son to fight for what was important, but there had to be a time and a place. If he ended up causing trouble for the big bear tribe, would Ruan Chanchan still accept him? She did not think so.
Thus, for the sake of her son, she could only put a stop to this ruckus when she still had time or else she was worried that things might get out of her control very soon. She sucked in a breath and looked at Chief Xie before saying to him, "Let’s talk about this matter more calmly."
When Ruan Chanchan heard her response, she heaved a sigh of relief. She had arranged for the two tribes to make an alliance; she did not want them to start fighting before the oath could be taken!
Are you sure that you want to worry about such things? said Xiao Xi as he looked at the woman speechlessly. If you are worried about something, then worry about those gazes that are directed at you. I can tell you with just one glance that these mers are not in the mood to forgive you.
You don’t have to tell me. I know that, alright Ruan Chanchan deadpanned with a tired expression on her face. She knew that neither Rong Xian nor Xie Daiyu was willing to drop this matter, and there was a very good chance that they were going to end up in a situation where they would end up fighting again.
The day was supposed to be filled with happiness. After all, she and Xie Daiyu finally met with one another after separating for so long and yet! It was filled with nothing but anxiety. Ruan Chanchan looked at the mer who seemed to be fuming mad and gulped hard. She did not know what to say to him, for the mer was looking like he was ready to kill at any moment.
Ruan Chanchan looked at the mer beside her and then turned to look at Rong Xian, who was sitting next to her. The mer did not look any better than Xie Daiyu. It was as if he, too, were prepared to attack Xie Daiyu at any moment. The look in his eyes was anything but kind, and even when he was not looking at Xie Daiyu, Ruan Chanchan could sense the murderous aura oozing from his skin.
"Alright," Queen Rong looked at her son, who was breathing so hard that he was about to exhale fumes from his nostrils. She glanced at the mer and shook her head. She understood her son too well and knew that he was losing patience with each passing second. She turned to look at Ruan Chanchan and Chief Xie, who were just as tense as she was, and questioned in a light voice, "What are we going to do about the current situation? Ah Xian is not just a member of the tribe; even if I want to send him over to your tribe, I am afraid that we cannot do it."
"The same could be said for my son," Chief Xie began nervously. "I know that this is rude of me to say, but my son is the next chief of the tribe. I cannot let him follow Ruan Chanchan to your tribe either." Xie Daiyu was her carefully cultivated heir; she had taught him all the knowledge that she had to run a tribe, and she had no intention of letting her son follow Ruan Chanchan into another tribe.
Queen Rong couldn’t send her son away, nor could Chief Xie; since neither of them could send her away, the two of them turned to look at Ruan Chanchan. Seeing their gazes locked on her, Ruan Chanchan could not help but gulp. Oh no.
