Chapter 370: Agreed to Share
"Ruan Chanchan, since the situation had become like this...you can tell us what you want to do," said Chief Xie in a calm tone. She knew that she was being a bit unjust by asking Ruan Chanchan to make the decision but what else could she do? She could not ask Ruan Chanchan to stay in her own tribe, nor could she let Ruan Chanchan leave. Chief Xie knew that as mothers, they would want Ruan Chanchan to stay in their own tribe—since their personal feelings were involved, they would never be able to make a proper decision. So they could only leave the matter to Ruan Chanchan.
When Ruan Chanchan saw that the two sly women had left the choice in her hands, she couldn’t help but curse them in her heart. They were truly shameless!
She raised her head and looked at Rong Xian and Xie Daiyu. The two of them were looking at her eagerly as if telling her to choose them. She knew that she had to make a decision even if she did not want to. After thinking about it for a while, she said in a low voice, "How about the two tribes start sharing me? I can naturally not abandon Daiyu, as he is the father of my children, and I cannot abandon his highness either, given that he is...my mate."
As soon as she finished speaking, the crowd immediately exploded. And the one who was the most furious was Rong Xian. he jumped to his feet and said loudly, "Why? Why do you want to go with them? They cannot do anything to help you."
"Is it important?" Xie Daiyu asked coldly. "You heard Chanchan; she is only willing to follow you because she feels responsible for you and nothing else. It has nothing to do with our tribe being weak or not." Xie Daiyu hated Rong Xian, and he hated the fact that the mer was bringing up the matter of their tribe being weak again and again. So what if his tribe was weak? Just because his tribe was weak, he was not supposed to fight for his mate?
He looked at Ruan Chanchan and decided in his mind that he would tell the truth to her about them being mates as well. He was worried that if he kept it any longer, then the woman would be snatched away by Rong Xian. He could accept Ruan Chanchan being shared, but he would never allow the woman to be snatched. Did he think that just because he was the prince of a tribe, he could do whatever he wanted? Then he was wrong. He would never allow his woman to be taken away.
Rong Xian turned his head to glare at the mer. He cursed him for not understanding his situation clearly. Their tribe was on the verge of disappearing. Who did not know that their ancestral land had been taken away? And yet Xie Daiyu was refusing to understand his own situation?
He sucked in a breath and suppressed his anger. "Xie Daiyu, I do understand your feelings, but what can you even do with them? How about this? I will help you take your ancestral land back."
As soon as Xie Daiyu heard his words, he felt a surge of anger rise. He slowly got to his feet and came eye to eye with Rong Xian. "You think you can win me over by talking about ancestral lands and whatnot? I do not need your so-called charity. If I want to take over my ancestral land, then I will fight for it myself. But I will never, ever sell my mate off."
"What? Just because she imprinted on you, you think that she is your mate?" Rong Xian sneered at the mer. In his eyes, Xie Daiyu was fighting a losing battle. Even if Ruan Chanchan chose him this time around, he was just an imprinted mate; there was no way Ruan Chanchan would waste her time and emotions on a mer upon whom she had imprinted.
However, as soon as he finished speaking, Xie Daiyu curled his lips in a disdainful smile. He said in a low voice, "Who said that she is my mate through imprint? She is my true mate. If you don’t believe it, then you can take a much closer look and see it for yourself."
Xie Daiyu knew that Rong Xian could see as well as sense it. After all, now that he was related to Ruan Chanchan through the mating bond, it would be impossible for him not to sense the other bonds that Ruan Chanchan had.
Sure enough, as soon as he finished speaking, Rong Xian was about to scoff. However, before he could lose his temper, he sensed the deep bond. This bond was different from the imprinting bond; it was deep and more resolute. One that was quite similar to his own with Ruan Chanchan. His eyes widened when he looked at Ruan Chanchan and then at Xie Daiyu.
Realising that the mer had sensed his mating bond with Ruan Chanchan, Xie Daiyu was filled with gleeful smugness. He knew that the mer would sense it.
"You... How could this be?" Rong Xian was furious. If it were just a mer who had got attached to Ruan Chanchan through imprinting, he could always deal with him, but if this mer were Ruan Chanchan’s true mate, it would change the dynamics altogether.
While Rong Xian was furious, Ruan Chanchan was stupefied. She looked at Xie Daiyu and then turned to look at the mer with the same shocked look on her face. What? Xie Daiyu was also her mate? What was going on? How come she was getting one mate after another? She looked around the crowd and asked, "Is anyone else my mate? Since we are going to do it the hard way, then we might as well do it nice and strong." What was the point of giving her mini heart attacks one by one? It was better to give her one big one and be done with it!
