Chapter 531: Desperate Defences

|¬ALVEY!!!!!! MCENDA!!!!!!! MAXIMUM DEFENCE, NORTH-EAST NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!¬|

Arthur’s Faux True voice boomed across the entirety of not just the Plomux-High Command, but the Khever Region as a whole.

The cosmic energy mixed with law power infused in it hit the ears and souls of those who were within this range and every existence below Level 700 covered their ears and dropped to their knees as they were all afflicted with migraines.

Level 700s and 800s winced in pain, and Transcendents only mildly furrowed their brows on instinct.

But rather than the effect of his Faux-True Voice, most were concerned about the content of his words.

The two who he called didn’t waste a split second to act.

They felt Arthur’s time power wash over them, accelerating their movements and they released surges of energy that knocked away their opponents, before turning in the direction Arthur called and activated their Pseudo-Authorities.

[Pseudo-Authority of Darkness: Waterfall of Shadows!]

[Pseudo-Authority of Light: Radiant Bulwark!]

The sky fractured with a loud cracking sound, a jagged tear from which a wave of darkness law energy poured down from above. The surging darkness created a waterfall in the sky where the falling water acted as a barrier.

Demonic energy erupted from Alvey, and a colossal barrier of light expanded outward from his position, extending vertically in all directions. Its luminous edge stretched across several kilometres, forming a vast, protective shield.

Some other High-Ranked Demon aides of Alvey and McEnda also moved, using their strongest defensive skills and techniques to reinforce the barriers the two had created, while others moved to protect their backs from the attacks of the Aramisians.

Both Alvey and McEnda heard the urgency in Arthur’s voice and they knew that although Arthur joked around a lot, he wasn’t one to mess around in the middle of a fight like this.

And their trust in Arthur wasn’t betrayed.

Barely a second after Alvey’s barrier fully expanded...it happened.

They all felt it, but none saw it until it hit. It was just that fast.

A beam of golden light moving at a speed that transcended the perception of everyone present sliced through the air with blistering intensity and collided with McEnda’s Waterfall of Shadows.

In a split second, the barrier shattered as though it were spun glass and blood dripped from McEnda’s lips as he felt the backlash hit him. Despite the pain, he gritted his teeth and hastily reconstructed his barrier knowing full well that Alvey’s shield would falter in mere moments.

His instincts proved correct.

Alvey’s barrier, though reduced in size and infused with concentrated demonic energy at the impact point, barely held against the onslaught. The beam of divine brilliance tore through it in less than a heartbeat, fracturing the shield into a thousand glittering shards.

The other High-Rank Demons’ barriers fared no better, disintegrating under the relentless assault and buying only fleeting seconds for Alvey and McEnda to recreate their barriers, which were broken again in mere seconds.

Alvey layered barriers upon barriers but this beam of golden divinity tore through everything with ease.

Having no choice, he summoned the Morphic Edge and the Sword didn’t act like it usually did. It lent Alvey its cosmic energy without hesitation, forcing out as much power as it could, as fast as it could.

Using this, Alvey released a full-powered slash with every iota of magic power and aura in his being, sending it against the beam of golden light and succeeding in halting its advance...for 3 seconds.

His slash was consumed by the all-enveloping fury of the divinity beam and McEnda who was already drained from having his full-powered defences repeatedly broken didn’t hesitate to unearth an artifact his father gave him for protection.

McEnda tore his skin with his teeth and let his blood pour onto the disc he retrieved from his subspace.

The blood seeped into the disc’s surface, triggering an immediate and dramatic transformation. Veins of crimson and black energy pulsed through the once-dormant artifact, and with each pulse, the disc grew brighter and more menacing.

The Demonic energy of a ’Demon King’ stored within it awoke, and its smooth surface rippled to reveal intricate runes.

Suddenly, the disc erupted in a burst of dark, swirling energy. A towering barrier of shadows and flame materialized before McEnda, its dark tendrils reaching out in every direction to envelop all the High-Rank Demons in a protective cocoon.

The golden beam, which had been pouring down with relentless intensity, collided with the barrier and for a moment, the two forces clashed violently.

Then, the golden light began struggling against the shield of darkness. The barrier’s surface was a roiling mix of dark shadows and flames, flickering with ominous reds and purples as it absorbed and deflected the oncoming divinity beam.

The disc’s barrier absorbed the brunt of the divine power, its dark surface glowing with the absorbed energy as it held firm.

Gradually, the intensity of the beam began to wane, its power sapped by the formidable barrier of darkness. A second later, the barrier pulsed with a final surge of energy before the golden beam finally flickered and died out.

As the beam’s last remnants dissipated, the disc’s barrier shattered with a resounding crack and its energy dispersed into the air like fading embers.

The artifact, having fulfilled its purpose, returned to its inert state, its once-glowing runes now dimmed but still faintly pulsing with residual power.

|...|

Everyone was silent.

Cold sweat poured down the necks of both Aramisians and Gozonians.

Despite the seeming eternity of tension, only a mere fifteen seconds had passed since Alvey and McEnda had deployed their initial defences.

However, the energies of the High-Rank Demons were spent.

McEnda collapsed to his knees, his complexion rapidly turning ashen. Nevertheless, he forced himself to his feet as he, as well as everyone else, knew that this devastating attack did not emerge from nowhere.

It had a source, and that source was approaching them!

Arthur, the only reason why McEnda and Alvey were able to recreate their barriers as fast as they did, staggered due to the strain of accelerating the time of multiple Transcendents.

Holding out his right arm, he drew in ambient cosmic energy and infused it into the Cosmic Teleporter on his arm, giving it the command to begin Cosmic Gate creation.

At the same time, Arthur’s mouth moved as he gave a different verbal command, unleashing one of his True Trump Cards.

|¬Lostvayne! Full Release! ¬|

**BOOM!!

A thunderous explosion erupted and cosmic energy poured out of Lostvayne like water from a broken dam as the sword’s limiter was removed.

Shimmering silver circuits spread across its blade, extending into tendrils that pierced Arthur’s skin and began siphoning his Null’s power.

Arthur’s hand moved to grip the blade, but before his fingers could touch the hilt, a hand appeared out of nowhere and grabbed his arm.

|That would not be necessary, godslayer. |

Arthur’s destruction energy lashed out automatically, and the boy’s innate power to turn things into ’nothing’ made the person who held him feel an instinctive fear.

As such, despite Arthur not possessing the energy to deplete their durability, they still let go of the boy’s arm on instinct.

Upon turning around, Arthur saw a familiar face. He had only encountered this man twice, and the first time, the man wasn’t in control of his own body.

He was the one whom Demon King McEnda II had possessed when he spoke to Arthur last November.

The Five Star General, and Supreme Commander of the Demon Army on Planet Aramis.

Peak Ranked Demon; Cruz Orkorin.

The man unfurled his two pairs of wings and slowly levitated, looking down on the battlefield as he spread out his aura to make his presence known.

|Sargon, McEnda III. Good work.

You pushed them to the point where they acted first. Now, we’re completely justified. |

The attack just now had come from a Deity Realm existence, and the agreement between the Gozonian Demon Kings and the Aramisian god Kings stated that none of such beings were to directly interfere in the war.

They could serve as commanders, yes, but to attack? That wasn’t allowed.

However, McEnda and Alvey had dominated the battles of the day since it began, and Plomux was mere minutes away from losing.

Before that, the two of them had broken records that’d have people on the Interstellar Stage talking for years to come.

The Date was May 22. And they had begun attacking Plomux on May 10. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

Meaning that in less than two weeks, they had cut through all the continents’ defences and reached the heart where its main commanders were, subjugating everything in their path.

Less than 2 weeks on a continental war with over a hundred million soldiers involved?

That speed was crazy!

It was no wonder that the god who was watching Plomux was forced to make a move.

With Arthur, a relentless thorn in the Aramisians’ side, and Evan, a burgeoning threat both present, it was the perfect moment to strike and potentially eradicate them all in one devastating blow.

Unfortunately for them, Arthur’s future sight was triggered automatically in dangerous situations like this.

This allowed Arthur to see the grim future that awaited all the Demons here if that attack hit, and warn them beforehand.

On a side note, the attack had a ’Selective Destruction’ attribute, so Divine Humans and gods would not be harmed by it, only Demons!

As for Arthur, he had the Stellar Guard, though that would have consumed at least 4 charges since that attack could kill him four times over and have power left behind.

Wasn’t surprising, as the one who struck was a Superior Stage Half Deity.

A being with the power to completely destroy the moon that graced Aramis’ night sky.

The skies above darkened as a suffocating blanket of demonic energy unfurled from the Peak Ranked Demon, casting an ominous shadow over the battlefield.

Suddenly, a single streak of blinding light pierced through the oppressive blanket of energy, surging straight towards Cruz who activated his Authorities and charged towards the approaching god.

In seconds, the sky became a battleground for the Deities, with everyone quickly backing away as fast as they could to avoid getting caught up.

But rather than the battle in the skies, most were concerned with something else.

The gods and Demon Kings watching this were also wondering...just what in the Seven Dimensions would have happened if Cruz hadn’t stopped Arthur from touching Lostvayne.

The amount of energy they felt emanating from that blade was scary, and that was just the magic power! They couldn’t sense the cosmic energy.

But with Cruz fighting the god who forced this, Arthur silently commanded Lostvayne to reapply its limiter and the cosmic energy storm died down.

He unsummoned the blade and looked at the Cosmic Gate that had formed, sighing as he called out to Evan.

"Dude, let’s get out of here."

"...mhmm..."

Evan nodded after a moment’s pause, his eyes fixated on the Cosmic Teleporter on Arthur’s forearm.

Arthur had previously told him about the Cosmic Teleporter’s functions, and because of this, he noticed something others didn’t.

’That’s the Artifact he used to come to this Universe, isn’t it?

He can create Spatial Gates with it, and he said that creating gates to go across a continent with it only needs less than five seconds.’

Seeing Arthur ’release’ Lostvayne, everyone assumed he wanted to use whatever earth-shaking power resting within the sword to fight, but Evan saw differently.

Arthur had given the command to create the Cosmic gate before he Released Lostvayne.

To Evan, rather than fighting, it looked like Arthur—

’—was preparing to buy time...

He was trying to buy time for the artifact to generate the Spatial Gate. A Gate requiring more than 5 seconds to generate.

Arthur was either trying to leave the continent or...!’

Evan’s eyes widened at the silent realisation that hit him in that second. The very real possibility that faced with the power of a Higher Existence, Arthur would not hesitate to abandon this planet.

This wasn’t like the situation with Duskhand.

A higher existence’s power was no joke and Arthur had no intentions of playing with fire by sticking around for too long when there was one trying to kill him.
