Chapter 530: ‘Masked Rogue Hero of Aramis’

Evan was able to catch up thanks to the speed buff Arthur had given him when they were dealing with the Hero’s Disaster Genesis skill, and after remembering this, Arthur teleported over to their location in one go.

The Black Dragon roared at Evan and wanted to attack, but Arthur grabbed its tail with one hand and pulled on it with all his strength, flinging the creature into the air.

"Romrintet, Stelan. You’re up."

He summoned the Divine Dragon and godslayer and left them to deal with the black dragon while he and Evan focused on the Hero.

"His soul is damaged...It can’t accept the planet’s power again."

Having destroyed his fair bit of souls in his home world, Evan was very sensitive to them so he could make this observation even though he could not see the cosmic energy draining from the Hero’s body.

Arthur, who could see the cosmic energy, could see that not only was the Hero losing the power, but he was becoming even weaker than he was before he gained it.

’As I thought, there’s no way that he wouldn’t have any drawbacks for using Cosmic energy.

If left as is, I don’t think he’d die...but he’d probably suffer under Causality so much that he might wish for death. This planet would also suffer repercussions too...’

Arthur walked forward and coated his leg with destruction energy, before stepping on the Hero’s stomach.

Naturally, the powerful law energy latched onto the connection between the body and the soul and destroyed the final link that the planet used to grant him power.

It also destroyed a bit of his soul as well and that forced a gut-wrenching scream from the Hero’s mouth.

"That sounds like it hurts..."

"I’m wounding his soul, of course it does."

Arthur replied to Evan as he took his foot off, while Evan just laughed and drew his sword, looking the half-dead Hero in the eyes and speaking.

"No hard feelings."

With those words, he stabbed the Hero right in the forehead with his blade, with enough force that the blade pierced out from the back of his skull and dug into the ground.

Evan shook his head silently as he saw this message appear in his field of vision, pretty much revealing one of his biggest secrets.

He was from Aidos, the Prime World Artemisia and Beatrix called home, and not Earth V like he had told Arthur.

Well, he was also from Earth V, but it was a bit complicated.

Thankfully, only he could see these messages so he didn’t need to explain anything to Arthur who was carefully watching the Cosmic energy flow around him which was changing due to the actions of the Universe’s Devour Class System.

Evan was the real Hero #2 from the future, and the current Hero #2 who existed somewhere on Aidos was also real, so the system was confused. There shouldn’t be two Heroes occupying the same slot, after all.

[Reincarnated Hero System’ Authority Activated.]

[Isolating Host.]

It had been shown previously that Evan had a ’personal system’ within him, something that differed from the main one which allowed people to Level Up. The Authority within it was also powerful enough to interrupt the Universe’s main system and prevent it from contacting ’Aidos’ about this duplicate Hero anomaly.

Evan watched as the system messages disappeared, before turning to Arthur and posing a question.

"Hey, Arthur. That Summit we’re going for next month. We need to leave the planet for it, right?"

"Yeah. It’s happening on Gozon, after all."

Hearing Arthur’s reply, Evan nodded before pointing at the corpse at his feet and continuing.

"We’re not gonna be able to come back, right?"

"Probably."

Arthur nodded in affirmation, fully understanding that there was no way that Aramis would easily let the two responsible for killing its Hero back onto its surface.

The Planet’s repulsion force couldn’t act on him while he was on it, but if he left, he was sure it’d put up barriers to prevent his re-entry.

’But Alvey and McEnda can enter and exit at will, so I’m guessing there’s a way to avoid it.

Maybe I can have an indigen of this planet summon me back into it...’

Arthur’s mind went to Romrintet when he thought of this, and he silently began making plans to have himself resummoned into Aramis if the planet tried to block him from the outside.

Barriers like that were sturdier on the outside since they were meant to ’keep things out’, but weaker on the inside, so if someone from the inside tore it open from there, then he could re-enter.

He didn’t say this out loud and simply looked turned in a certain direction where he sensed an incoming powerful presence.

Barely a second later, a brilliant light erupted in the sky, revealing a spear-wielding woman emanating so much divinity that the air around her shimmered.

She looked around in confusion before her gaze finally settled on the figures of Evan and Arthur on the ground, her eyes widening when she saw the corpse at her feet.

"Evan..."

"She’s a Hero."

Evan answered before Arthur could even ask. He already knew that a Hero’s death wasn’t something that could be concealed from the other Heroes so he was expecting something like this.

The eyes of the woman in the sky narrowed as she gazed at Evan, having discerned what he was. A moment later, the sky was filled with different coloured streaks as more Transcendents from both sides arrived on the scene.

One of the Heroes had suddenly pushed her opponent back and dashed in a seemingly random direction, abandoning the post she was defending, so it got everyone curious.

What’s more, the direction she headed was the same as the surge of destructive energy they had all sensed earlier.

Arriving at the scene, they beheld Arthur and Evan standing over a corpse, a sword embedded in its head. Evan casually pulled the blade out and sheathed it, making it clear to all that it was his.

When the other Aramisian Transcendent Hero arrived a moment later and saw his young comrade’s corpse, his eyes turned red with rage and he screamed out in a magic power-infused voice.

[WHO??!!]

Answering his question was his fellow Hero.

[...most likely that ’Masked Rogue Hero’.]

Her words resounded in the ears of all the Aramisian Transcendents present, surprising them due to the rarity of Rogue Heroes. Knowing that the ’Silver Summoner’ was certainly not a Hero, they quickly deduced that Evan, standing next to him, was the Rogue Hero.

This event was what would later lead to Evan being known on the Interstellar Stage as the ’Masked Rogue Hero’. Since they didn’t know what planet he was from and only knew the world he first showed up in, they called him the ’Masked Rogue Hero of Aramis’.

As for the male Transcendent Hero, he didn’t waste a second to flare his aura and charge right at Evan with the intention of avenging his fallen comrade.

[DIE!!!]

However, his vengeance was interrupted.

[Hold up there, brother...we’re not done with our fight!]

McEnda’s voice boomed as tendrils of darkness shot from the ground and towards the Hero, forcing him to halt his charge and fly away to evade.

Simultaneously, the Female Hero turned and raised her spear just as a streak of white light collided with it, shaking the sky. The impact’s shockwaves blew away all the other Transcendents, parting the clouds for miles.

The white light revealed itself to be Alvey, wielding the Morphic Edge. Alvey engaged the spear-wielding Hero with sub-relativistic speed strikes while McEnda, using his staff, manipulated his corrosive darkness to assail the male Hero.

The sky quickly filled with explosions as the Transcendents resumed their battles. High-Rank Demons clashed with Divine Human Transcendents and Mid-Rank gods, creating a light show in the sky as the divine and demonic energies collided.

Some Divine Humans attempted to attack Arthur, recognizing him as the source of the dampening effect on their divinities, but High-Rank Demons stepped in to protect him, unaware that Arthur was looking to catch a Transcendent off guard for a fatal blow.

’Maybe if I use mum’s grenade launcher... But that’d affect Alvey and the others.

I should try using that flame spear Uncle Creusery gave me. Or perhaps one of Lucifer’s artifacts.’

He was deep in such thoughts when his eyes suddenly flashed with a Memory of the Future.

It was just like when he and Aravae were at Cheigh in January. The future he saw was one very grim one and he didn’t hesitate to warn his comrades about it.
