Chapter 428: Pick a Nickname!! [Random Bonus]
Indiscriminate.
That was the best word one could use to describe Arthur’s movements on the battlefield.
His blades did not discriminate between race or gender.
Man or Woman, Flugel, Elf, Beastkin or Human.
They all met death equally by his swords.
A very painful death as the boy’s blades were both coated with a thin layer of Null’s power. Since his Null affected the root of one’s existence, those who fell by Arthur’s hand died without complete souls.
The Aramisians were over-reliant on Divinity and Holy Magic, hence, they were very susceptible to Arthur’s powerful Anti-Divinity.
Like so, he racked up experience points until the series of notifications he awaited showed up in his field of vision.
[Level Up.]
|You have reached Level 750. |
|You have reached the Intermediate Stage. |
Arthur’s aura burst forth from his body and at this moment, he couldn’t hide his powerful divinity from the sharp senses of the few gods nearby, although the Divine Humans did not notice anything.
However, most of their minds were occupied by a different fact they just discovered.
The fact that all this while, Arthur was just an Inferior legendary.
A great many had witnessed the boy splitting Superior Legendries in two Cataclysmic Divide, crushing them with the force of Mountain Split and deleting their souls with Extreme Nothingness.
’And yet, all this while, he was just an Inferior Stage?!’
After the short fanfare that came with his breakthrough to the Intermediate Stage, Arthur silently withdrew his auras and vanished from the spot he was at.
He was going to another Sector of the Ark, one where they did not know he had just broken through and become stronger.
As such, their assumptions of his strength would be off the mark and he’d have an easier time dealing with them.
’Most people usually become Intermediates at Levels 730-740. It took me an extra ten levels because of my higher power capacity.
At this rate, who knows when I’d be able to reach the Superior Stage, much less the Sovereign Realm where the gap I have to cross is frankly absurd for the current me.’
Arthur could hold his own against Inferior Sovereigns before, but with his increase in power, he could now deal with them easily.
Nevertheless, it was not enough to match up to Intermediate Sovereigns, unless of course, he went all out using his Pseudo-Authorities.
’Speaking of those, my soul has become stronger so now the limit on how long I can maintain them before my Pseudo-Origin Cores give out has extended.’
Just as he thought that, Arthur sensed a distortion in the fabric of space and when he turned in that direction, he saw a Divine Elf teleporting.
"You’re teleporting? Are you suicidal?"
His question was not without reason.
Teleportation involves moving through the fabric of space-time to get from one location to another at a faster rate.
In this case, the fabric of space was to the teleporter, what a bridge was to a car. A means to get from destination A to B.
But if the bridge was broken or distorted, then the car would not be able to pass.
That was the case with teleportation.
If the space was distorted, broken or scrambled, teleportation became a risky affair. One could get swallowed up through a gap in the broken space and tossed into a spatial storm somewhere. They could also end up in a different place for their destination.
Like juice passing through a straw. If the straw was the fabric of space which the juice was teleporting through, there being holes punctured in the straw meant that the liquid in the straw was going to spill out through the holes and onto the ground.
This was why most of the time when Deity Realms fought, the losing side simply didn’t teleport away. Not because they didn’t know how to, but they could not at the time.
Legendries and above fought with the powers of Universal Laws and since the law energy in their attacks could counteract each other’s attack, it could also do the same with the fabric of space that was intertwined with the Universal Law of Space.
Since the ambient energy of the Law governing space in that area was distorted, then so the space would also be unstable.
If two Transcendents were to use full power attacks with Law energy, their attacks may not distort space itself, but the surrounding spatial laws would be in disarray.
It’s usually much harder to do this when the level of the World one is in is high. What can distort the spatial laws on Gade would barely be able to do a thing on a planet like Aramis, after all.
Unless you could protect yourself with an Authority stronger than that of the laws that scrambled space, spatial travel in an area with messed up spatial laws was messed up.
This was why Arthur could teleport to the Head of Barron’s Hydra earlier.
Laws had ranks for a reason and the higher the ranks, the more things you could do with the power.
Since he had comprehensions in laws of space than the Sovereigns who had not even started comprehending and the Transcendents who weren’t anywhere near a Pseudo-Authority like he was, he could navigate his way through the space fabric and his law energy was strong enough to protect himself from falling into any of the spatial storms.
Of course, this required him to use higher-level spells or techniques as well.
If the ones who caused the distortions were people who had Pseudo-Authorities, although he would still be able to teleport, it would be just as suicidal as the guy getting swallowed up by a spatial storm now.
"Oh well, free exp."
Arthur used an extinction slash to split the guy in two before continuing forward and entering Sector 6.
What followed was another massacre.
He split one elf in two with Extinction slash, riddled another with holes of destruction energy, and turned some more to dust with Null.
It was then that a trio of Superior Legendries spotted him cleaving through the weaker soldiers and reacted.
"That hair and mask...?! The ’Silver Demon’!"
Hearing this, Arthur stopped and turned in the direction where they were, ignoring the fact that he was stabbing the heart of a poor Epic Human with Lostvayne and spoke.
"Can you guys just pick one already? Are you going with ’Silver Demon’, or ’Silver Demon Summoner’?
Like, make up your fucking minds!"
The boy was genuinely annoyed at the fact that they kept switching between titles as it subtly messed up his Universal Influence experiment.
As for those three Legendries, they could not care less about Arthur’s grievances and dashed towards him in a flash.
"Hold him down! Don’t let him summon anything!"
The fastest of the three, a genuine god, dashed at him at Hypersonic speed and reached his location almost instantly.
His fist was coated in divinity and struck forward, and Arthur could sense about six skills activating simultaneously.
The boy coated his blade in his silver aura and slashed with Celestia, however, when the sword collided with his fist, something strange happened.
**BAMM!!!
A pulse of the god’s energy was sent through Celestia’s blade and right into his arm, strong enough that it caused the boy’s entire right arm to rupture. Veins burst and silver blood splattered everywhere as Arthur’s expression morphed into one of shock.
"Wait...what?"
[Ha??!!]
Celestia was just as dumbfounded as Arthur was, and much to the sword’s shock, she discovered that the god’s divinity was preventing her from flying back into Arthur’s hand.
The god naturally took damage from meeting Arthur’s sword, but he ignored it and pulled his fist back, before sending out another full-power strike intent on crushing Arthur’s head.
However, when his fist was exactly a centimetre away from reaching this goal, it suddenly stopped.
"?!"
He tried pulling his fist back but he found that he could neither move it forward nor backwards.
Arthur looked at his arm and the blood pouring out of it, consciously stopping his regeneration as he tried to analyse what had happened.
’The energy forced the sword out of my hand, and even now I can’t recall Celestia.
Perhaps...a forced disarming skill?’
He correctly guessed the type of skill that had been used to force the weapon out of his hands, whilst ignoring the other two Legendries who tried attacking only to have their attacks stopped in time a centimetre away from reaching him.
"This...time magic?!"
One of them finally realised what Arthur had done, her shock evident on her face as if it wasn’t for the fact that her hand had gotten caught, she would not have sensed the time energy.
’There were no ambient law fluctuations at all! Where did he get the time law energy?!’
The thought of a non-transcendent comprehending laws was impossible to her so she never considered that for even half a second.
Instead, she spent that half second to cast a magic spell that caused the earth around Arthur’s feet to surge upwards and encase the boy’s lower body in a prison of rock.
She also used ambient law energy and divinity to attack the layer of time law energy that stopped her arm in time, breaking free from the Basic Time Stop and jumping backwards.
[LEGENDS! I NEED HELP! WORLD MAGIC!!]
The woman shouted out a call for help with her voice imbued in magic power and hearing the ’World Magic’ term, Arthur got curious.
He was about to move his hand to destroy the rock prison immobilizing him but a dozen arrows of light came piercing through the air and that hand reflexively moved up and caught all of them in an instant.
"Fast!"
"Of course, I’m fast. I’ve used the ’Third Magic’...not that you’d know what that is."
By the time Arthur was done speaking, a six-ringed magic circle appeared on the ground around him and an enormous pressure descended upon him.
The god and the Divine Humans who had now surrounded him expected that it would keep him at bay long enough for them to cast their Combination Spell, but Arthur just chuckled and used his own gravity law energy to destroy the suppression, along with the rock prison.
As such, they moved to restrain him again, while taking up a circular formation around him.
’I’m quite curious about that World Magic thingy...’
He remembered the incident with the gods he fought right after leaving Lucifer’s Domain in Varona, where his curiosity earned him a nasty wound.
’Let’s be safe this time.’
