Chapter 427: Kill Steal!
"Maybe it’s the Infernals."
The boy shrugged as he said this, and the Hellhound’s eyes narrowed dangerously.
[As I thought...the presences I sense are indeed Infernal Devils.]
"You know them?"
[How could I not? My World is enemies with theirs.]
The Hellhound’s words had Arthur turning his gaze to the battlefield, catching the sight of many Divine Elves watching the Wolf he had summoned warily but not daring to do anything else due to the near-transcendent aura they could sense from it.
Looking at the battlefield from a high vantage point, Arthur noticed that the double-headed and triple-headed wolves all avoided areas with Infernal Devils.
He even witnessed how the Hellhound with Stelan made the godslayer change direction simply because there was an Infernal Devil nearby.
[Our Worlds are Twin Worlds, so unfortunately, travel between them is easy...too easy for our safety.]
Arthur nodded when he heard the concepts of ’Twin Worlds’, remembering Phirex and Girex before questioning.
"How far is your world from this one, I wonder?"
The boy was very curious about the distance, or if it was even in the same Galaxy he was.
’The law of summoning is a very intriguing law. While I can survive being in space for a limited time due to my cosmic superiority, and can even move in the void, I do not have enough energy to make my way over to even the next planet right next to this one.
Yet, the law of summoning’s power can bring beings across this distance with ease.’
As he was lost in his thoughts, the Hellhound’s middle head looked up at the sun and Arthur saw the energy of the law of space coalesce in its eyes before it replied.
[Our planet orbits the next yellow Star from this one. Although I do not know how far it is from your own world, Summoner.]
The Inferior Sovereign Hellhound he had summoned earlier was able to tell that he was not Aramisian, so it was not surprising that this one—a Superior Stage—could do the same.
’So the nearest solar system, huh? It’s not too far on the cosmic scale so it makes sense.
Still, to think that I can call upon creatures from a different solar system with just 5% comprehension.’
He looked towards the Giant Hydra that Barron was riding on and thought.
’Wherever he pulled that thing from, it’s likely not close by. I’d assume the Level of the World it’s from would be higher as well, maybe a Prime World.’
Barron was a being who just needed to get to Level 1000 to automatically exuviate and transcend mortality, becoming a Demigod realm existence with an Authority in the law of Summoning.
At the Demigod level, one became ’Interplanetary so it wasn’t surprising that Barron could easily call beings from much further in the Galaxy than Arthur could.
Summoning this Hellhound from just the next Solar system made Arthur sweat, but Barron was constantly maintaining multiple summons all over the Island and didn’t seem to be breaking a sweat.
’That’s not a priority, right now, though.’
He turned his attention to the Hellhound who had surveyed the battlefield with its six eyes before asking Arthur a question.
[Summoner. I take it that you are against the side of the divine.]
"Yes.
I’m with the Demons, the godslayers and the Devils."
[Very well then.]
The Hellhound’s six eyes locked on a scene where a Divine Human was pushed to the brink of defeat by a High Ranked Demon as it spoke.
[Summoner, I thank you for this opportunity.]
Leaving behind the confused Arthur, the Hellhound crouched before leaping off the ground with a velocity surpassing hypersonic speed. It soared through the air, effortlessly evading the futile attempts of the Divine Humans to intercept it.
Closing the distance in the blink of an eye, the Hellhound reached the Demon who was about to deal the final blow and then—
**CHOMPP!
"Fucking kill steal!"
—it bit the Divine Human’s body with its middle head, and following the vicious bite, a torrent of searing flames erupted forth from the Hellhound’s jaws, dealing the final blow instead of the Demon.
Landing on the ground, the Hellhound bashed through buildings with its massive body, before looking up at the notifications in its field of view.
[Level Up]
You have reached Level 900.
You have proven your qualifications to surpass mortality.
You have achieved Transcendence.
You are now Level 902
**BOOM!!
The Hellhound’s form pulsated with raw magical energy, and a torrential surge of power cascaded outward in undulating waves, enveloping its surroundings in the creature’s aura.
With each passing moment, the creature’s already imposing stature expanded even further, attaining a size about two metres taller than before.
From its multiple mouths, each imbued with a distinct elemental essence, a deadly concoction of poisonous miasma, scorching flames, and frigid ice began to coalesce.
With a thunderous roar, the Hellhound unleashed a triple-breath attack, each elemental stream hurtling forth in a different direction with unrelenting force.
Buildings crumbled in the face of the triple breath onslaught, and a small-scale Divinity Power crystal was obliterated in a blinding explosion of magical energy which released shockwaves that reverberated for miles.
"Oy! Don’t sink us!"
[I know, Summoner.]
The Hellhound replied before unleashing another breath in the direction of a Divine Human who was besting his Demon opponent, while Arthur heaved a light sigh of exhaustion.
"Damn, am I tired."
He saw Level Up Notifications filling his field of view, but he dismissed them all, not particularly caring about these ones as they didn’t bring him up to the level necessary for the Intermediate Stage of the Legendary Realm.
"I think I’m quite close though."
"Close to what?"
Stelan landed on the ground beside him and Arthur glanced at the man, noticing that he had expended all his energy and was now using a Divine Spark to recover.
There were not much half gods and gods below Transcendence on the Sector 1-5 battlefield anymore and though Arthur could tell there were others elsewhere, he’d leave that to the Demons there to deal with.
’They’re still firing my Anti-Divinity Missiles as well.’
"I’m close to reaching the next stage."
"Oh...I don’t think you’d get it if you do not absorb experience directly so I suggest you join the fray as well. You do seem to still have a decent amount of magic energy.
Or rather, how do you still have energy after all these summonses?"
Stelan couldn’t help but find this odd, especially considering Arthur had not killed any gods and absorbed Divine Sparks as he had.
"Potions, Stelan. Those and one of the Divine Sparks we go in Duskhand."
"Ohh, I see."
Arthur nodded as he leaned down on a pile of rubble, and then he pointed at one of the small divine sparks in Stelan’s hand and asked.
"Mind giving me one of those?"
"Hmm? Okay."
Stelan tossed it over without questioning why and Arthur thanked him before washing it with water and chomping down on it like candy.
"I’d never get used to it no matter how many times is see this..."
The older godslayer couldn’t help but mutter under his breath, before turning his gaze to the battlefield and looking at the Hellhounds.
’These Hellhounds, they are on the path of ’The Summoned’ for the same reasons as I. I’m sure of it.’
The man came to this conclusion after the little chat he had with the Hellhound Arthur had sent to assist him.
Infernal Devils were a threat to these Hellhounds just like the Demons were to the Aramisians, and the races of the world the Hellhounds came from were very united, which allowed them to match the much stronger Infernal Devils with ease.
But being United was not going to bring them victory, they needed power as well. The issue was that their strongest combatants were faced with a problem; a problem that Arthur would agree was caused by their heavy dependence on the Devour Class System.
They lacked beings to kill for EXP.
To resolve this issue, they used the Law of Summoning, practising the path of ’The Summoned’ and with it, they were called up to other worlds by practitioners of ’The Summoner’ path.
When called up to other worlds, they were usually made to fight in wars or aid in battles, which gave them an assortment of beings to kill, allowing them to level up without having to kill denizens of their own world.
Stelan wasn’t much different, but in his case, he didn’t have any reservations about killing a certain group of beings in his World—the Divine Humans who had oppressed and exiled them, calling them ’Heretics’ since the Divinity Blessings didn’t work on them.
"Celestia, Lostvayne."
Arthur’s voice snapped him out of his thoughts and he saw the boy get to his feet and stab the weapons into the ground in front of him
"You’re finally joining the fight personally."
"Indeed.
My goal is to achieve Inferior Sovereign by next November. Level 825 at least. I can’t do that if I sit back and collect tiny portions of exp from summons all the time."
The young progenitor stretched his arms and legs, before picking up his weapons and infusing his energy into the two of them.
"Now then, time to go become an Intermediate Legendary."
With those words, Arthur kicked off the ground and dashed into the air in the form of a silver streak of light.
