Chapter 418: The Summoning Storm
The entire squadron was suddenly blanketed in a veil of spatial law energy. The energy rapidly condensed at certain points, triggering spatial distortions that bloomed into massive wormholes containing endless darkness.
All the beams of supercharged divinity were absorbed by these wormholes, disappearing into the void of space beyond them.
The wormholes disappeared immediately after sending the beams to random points in the void of space outside the planets, revealing the figure of the one responsible.
It was a tall red-eyed man with striking black hair and slightly pale skin, dressed in the black uniform of the Demon Army and Four shining stars on his chest pocket.
"Demon of Light..."
Tamal let the small mutter out under his breath, but his exact words were echoed out all over the Military Segment in the next moment.
"DEMON OF LIGHT!!"
"THE DEMON OF LIGHT IS ATTACKING!! WE’RE DOOMED!!"
"OUR GENERALS DON’T STAND A CHANCE!!"
Each statement was more outrageous than the last, but that wasn’t what Tamal found strange.
’Those exact three lines are echoing in every single Division!!’
As a Lieutenant General, Tamal was in charge of a Corps of the army which consisted of 30,000 soldiers; elven, human, and flugel.
He had subordinate Major Generals who commanded each of the three Divisions of 10,000 soldiers that made up his corps.
And below them were Brigades of 3000 soldiers under the Brigadier Generals and Colonels.
Tamal spread out his aura and infused a piece of his consciousness into it, and within his Corps, he could hear those exact 3 lines being shouted out within each Brigade in each Division.
’It’s as if they’re trying to kill morale!!’
The man didn’t take long to figure out what was going on and the Transcendent Divine Human and Elf Generals beside him guessed it as well.
Immediately, they flared their auras with the intention of making the soldiers remember just how powerful they were, but there was already damage.
Some of the weaker low-ranking foot soldiers were clearly more fearful than they were before, as the idea of ’the Divine Generals not Standing a Chance’ had taken root in their minds.
While all of this was happening, Alvey wasn’t just floating in the air and giving the Aramisians a show; he was gathering his demonic and light law energy for an attack.
[Pseudo-Authority of Light: Luminous Beam Barrage]
Brilliant beams of radiant energy rained down upon the Aramisian soldiers below as they frantically erected barriers to shield themselves from the onslaught.
However, the majority of the attacks were aimed not at them, but at the artillery on the gun decks and the giant cannon in Sector 2 of the Ark.
[Pseudo-Authority of Fortification: Guardian’s Embrace!]
One of the Divine Elf Generals released his law energy and waved his hand, creating a shimmering energy veil that covered the soldiers, forming a protective barrier that absorbed the brunt of the incoming beams.
Tamal didn’t sit still as well, kicking off the ground and dashing towards the Main Cannon. With a swift motion, he summoned a sword and coated it in his divinity.
With expert precision, he deflected the incoming beams and redirected them to random points in the sky, ensuring the safety of the cannon and soldiers below.
"Charge it!"
He gave the order as he deflected the seemingly never-ending beams of light, frowning as despite deflecting them in the direction of the Demon airships, the energy within the beams fizzled out and re-joined the ambient law energy when they got too close, showcasing Alvey’s powerful control.
There was no time to admire this, as more Airships closed in on the Ark with every second that passed.
"FIREEEE!!!"
Tamal barked out and the Artillery guns released their fire, launching beams of divinity towards the sky. This time the other high-ranked demons didn’t sit still and emerged from their Airships, using their demonic energy and law powers to block the artillery fire while throwing out attacks in response.
The Divine Human and Elf generals joined the fray, and soon it turned to a scene where radiant beams of different coloured lights were exchanged between the two sides.
"Fire the main Cannon!"
Humming and whirring sounds filled the air after Tamal’s order as the soldiers manning the cannon powered it up and began charging it up, drawing divinity from the Triton’s Ark’s Main power plant.
The sound intensified, reaching a crescendo as the cannon neared full power, when suddenly, a sharp crack echoed through the air, followed by a deafening silence.
The cannon emitted a low, ominous groan as the energy supply to it was abruptly cut off. Sparks sputtered from its mechanisms as it struggled to maintain its charge to no avail.
**HUMMMMMM... Zzzt... Zzzt...!
With a final, strained whir, the cannon powered down completely, its mechanisms falling silent as it remained dormant, unable to reach full power due to the lack of energy.
As the hum of the cannon abruptly ceased, an eerie stillness was left in its wake.
Tamal and the Generals were dumbfounded by this sudden occurrence, and even the High Ranked Demons were also shocked as they had actually been preparing to go serious to block the cannon’s attack.
When one of them turned towards Alvey, he noticed that the Demon of Light and his direct subordinates were the only ones who remained calm in the face of this.
He didn’t need a genius brain to figure out that Alvey certainly had a hand in the Cannon’s sudden loss of power.
"It’s about time."
Alvey muttered under his breath as he saw this happen, confirming that Arthur, Sylvan and Barron had done their part.
"Get into position."
As he gave that order, Tamal and the other Generals were trying to figure out what happened with the cannon, and after some checks, they discovered that the power source at the main Power Plant in Sector 1 had been cut off.
Sure, the Cannon had backup power, but this backup power was not enough for the cannon to charge to the maximum output they intended.
The Cannon had automatically shifted to backup power when Arthur unplugged it some time ago, and when they tried firing it, it drained out all the backup power but still did not reach maximum output so powered down instead.
**BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!
As if that one strange occurrence was not enough, a sudden tremor shook the entire Triton’s Ark, making soldiers stagger and fall, while many other weapons, devices and appliances fell to the ground in a large clatter.
Next was a surge of law energy gathering in the centre of sector one, and then a massive explosion right in the middle of the Sector.
’That’s the power plant!!’
A massive pillar of demonic energy shot out from the ground and into the skies, and this phenomenon was mirrored on random points all over the Triton’s Ark.
In each Sector of the Triton’s Ark, a cylindrical pillar of magic power burst out from the ground and ascended to the sky with the force of a geyser.
Both the Military and Civilian Segments were victims of this phenomenon.
The magic power attracted ambient summoning law energies towards it and projected massive magic circles into the air.
[YOU FILTHY DEMONS HAVE GONE TOO FARR!!!!]
An enraged voice boomed across the entire ark, as multiple pillars of divine light ascended to the skies, as if mirroring the magic power of the large-scale summoning Barron and Arthur had used.
Beings clad in bright golden light emerged from different points across the Triton’s Ark, with their auras releasing a terrifying pressure that could be felt thousands of miles away from the Island Fortress.
Nevertheless, all their fanfare did nothing to stop the summoning magic circles from doing their jobs.
In fact, the magic circles were deployed and activated faster than these beings clad in light—Aramisian mid-ranked gods—could even emerge from where they had been trying to destroy Sylvan’s branches and roots.
Hundreds of fully armoured demon soldiers and flying monsters began pouring out from within these pillars of magic power, roaring out battle cries as they charged forward.
Each second that passed, the Demon Soldiers increased in numbers, spreading their wings as they took to the skies and began launching indiscriminate attacks at any Aramisian soldiers they saw.
Armoured Dark Knights stepped out, charging towards any Legendary they sensed and swinging their massive demonic energy-charged swords at them with unbridled intensity.
The high-ranking Demon subordinates of Alvey all dashed towards the summoning magic circles, releasing their energies to clash with the gods who attempted to destroy them.
The Airships’ cargo holds opened up and Demons flew out with their weapons drawn, launching magic spells at the soldiers on the ground.
"ATTACKK!!!"
The Aramisian soldiers didn’t need Tamal’s order to begin attacking the invading demons. Flugels took to the skies with their wings to combat the demons while artillery guns provided them with supporting fire.
The ground forces charged forward to meet with the demons endlessly pouring out of the summoning circles in a bloody melee.
All the Demons who had been waiting on the ships of Admiral Barron’s fleet rushed into the Summoning Circles that appeared in front of them, whisking them all the way over to the Triton’s Ark.
Seeing the pillars of magic power ascending skyward, the Rear Admirals and Commodores sprang into action, issuing rapid commands across their respective ships.
"Charge!!!"
