Chapter 403: Did you think only gods had ‘True Forms’?
’Luminar Annihilation!’
The technique unleashed a concentrated beam of radiant energy, intensified by the warping effects of space to pierce through Yedrist’s scales and blast apart his flesh.
’Tsk...’
Alvey clicked his tongue internally as he saw that Yedrist had actually managed to tilt his body so his attack had missed and only hit him in the side. Despite this, the attack drew blood, prompting a roar of pain from the Sea Serpent.
Yedrist roared in rage and activated his Pseudo-Authorities, retaliating with a furious storm—a tempest of lightning, bolts of ice, and elemental swords that rained down upon Alvey who countered each onslaught with his Light, Space, Fire and Darkness law energies.
When the Sea Serpent tried to release another point-blank breath, Alvey reacted faster and triggered a point-blank Luminous implosion. The shockwaves of the explosion reverberated through the air, knocking the massive body of the Sea Serpent away and sending it crashing into the ocean below.
Just as Alvey was about to move in for a counter, pressurized streams of water erupted and shot towards him.
With split-second reflexes, Alvey narrowly dodged the onslaught, avoiding the potential destruction of his wings.
’Dark Light-Space: Luminar Blades.’
Alvey infused his demonic energy into his light law energy and created twin swords which he swung to release dozens of projected slashes at Yedrist.
However, when the pressurized water streams collided with the slashes, they nullified each other.
’He’s started using spatial powers too.’
While Yedrist did not have the Pseudo-Authority of Space, he did have comprehensions in the law. His plan was to leave the Planet Aramis, after all.
To do that, he needed to go through the void of space, and though the physiology of a Higher Existence was one that could survive in the void of space for extended periods of time; comprehensions in the law were required to enable easier and more efficient movements.
Pretty much every higher existence out there had some form of spatial law comprehension.
But in cases where they didn’t have the affinity or the ’Element’ of ’Space’, then they didn’t take these comprehensions higher, simply because it was wiser and more efficient to use a higher ranked Authority in the element that they had a higher affinity with and could deal more damage with.
And if Spatial Slicing was what they were scared off, then the threat of the Spatial Slashes would be reduced considerably—but if their opponent had spatial authorities on their level or higher, they were usually fucked.
Anyway, Yedrist had infused his own spatial law energy into his attacks, so Alvey could not slice them in two like he used to, without invoking his Pseudo-Authority to do so.
The projected Dark Light-Space slashes and the pressurized streams of water cancelled each other out in blinding explosions.
[Sea Dragon’s Breath!!]
"?!"
’Pseudo-Authority of Light: Annihilatory Radiance!’
Alvey was barely able to release his technique in time to collide with the breath attack that Yedrist fired, with the collision between the two unleashing an overwhelming surge of energy, creating a blinding explosion that reverberated throughout the Chatane Ocean.
The force generated from the clash carved a massive hole in the depths of the ocean, displacing water in all directions. The displaced masses cascaded towards the continents on both sides of the ocean.
The tremendous force of the displaced water birthed twin tsunamis that surged relentlessly, crashing onto the distant shores of the two continents with colossal impacts, sending shockwaves through the very foundations of the lands, and transforming the serene coastlines into chaotic maelstroms of churning water.
’That was close!’
Alvey thought to himself as he used his wings of light to blitz through the air and avoid the lightning bolts raining down from above.
A Transcendent’s full power could wipe out a landmass of around 25-30 million square kilometres—a continent—and the attacks that the two had just used contained that kind of power, with the explosion from their collision causing tsunamis on both Guwos and Plomux.
Since they were both Superior Stages, they still had more than half of their energy reserves left, even after unleashing such power.
"...I can’t dawdle any longer."
Alvey heaved a sigh as he used his energy to check the status of his concealment Buoys, confirming they hadn’t been blown to oblivion by the attack.
With them still active, all the people on Guwos and Plomux would think was that they had been hit by natural disasters, and even fellow Transcendents would not detect that there were two Superior Stages battling in the middle of Chatane.
But it wouldn’t last forever.
’I can handle him eventually, but I don’t want this to last that long, even with Jabberwocky creating an alibi for me.’
At that thought, Alvey took a deep breath and exhaled, releasing a strange white mist from his mouth.
"Amidst the embrace of negativity,
break the chains that bind,
and unleash the form of the brightest grace.
Release the true Nature of My Soul."
A blinding light, radiant and ethereal, erupted and expanded, from Alvey’s body, its brilliance consuming the surroundings in an otherworldly glow.
In the next instant, the light disappeared as fast as it had appeared, and when Yedrist opened his eyes, the sight he saw was one that made his eyes widen in shock.
"[True Form Release.]"
Alvey’s calm voice rang out, and the Greater Demon once again exhaled, releasing a white mist from his mouth.
The six-foot-tall man did not emit even the slightest bit of energy from his body.
His physical appearance remained largely unchanged, except for his once-black bat-like wings, now transformed into an ethereal white hue.
Gone was the demonic army uniform, replaced by a pristine white robe adorned with intersecting white straps across his chest, forming a circle at their meeting point. Underneath the robe, he wore matching white pants and boots, while a fur mantle draped over his shoulders, fastened at his neck by the two chest straps.
A radiant crown hovered above his head, casting a gentle glow, and rings of jagged light rotated around his wrists, further accentuating the transformation that had taken place.
"Why so surprised Yedrist? Did you think only gods had ’True Forms’?"
[...]
Yedrist said nothing and remained silent, an inadvertent affirmation of Alvey’s question. Instead, the Sea Serpent focused on the power of all his Pseudo-Authorities, imbuing their power into the breath attack he was charging up simultaneously.
Alvey activated his Pseudo-Authorities simultaneously, channelling their power into his Unique skill and using the energy of the law of constructs to craft a sword above his open palm.
The tail of the Sea Serpent glowed with a bright light, and this light travelled up his body, straight to his neck as he charged forward with a half-open jaw.
The Greater Demon’s right arm started glowing as he flapped his wings and half-elementalized his body, blitzing towards his opponent at breakneck speed.
[Sixfold Pseudo-Authority: Dragon Breath!!]
From Yedrist’s gaping maw, azure waters surged forth, intertwined with radiant beams of light and sheets of crystalline ice. Rocky tendrils and gusts of wind swirled around, while lightning crackled and intertwined with the other elements, transforming the breath into a pulsating tempest of electrifying energy.
The resulting amalgamation created a mesmerizing kaleidoscope of colours, each representing an elemental force harmoniously merged.
"Dark Child of Light: Radiant Nova Blade!"
A colossal blade of pure, dazzling light materialized above Alvey’s palm, with a brilliance so intense it crackled with unrestrained power. As the blade took shape, the fabric of the surrounding space was distorted by its luminous might.
He hurled the blade forward with unparalleled speed and fervour, carving through the fabric of space on its path to collide with the incoming breath over the ocean.
***...KABOOOMMM!!!!!!!
The moment of impact birthed an explosion that could only be described as Cataclysmic. A blinding burst of light enveloped the ocean, obliterating the boundaries between water and air.
Shockwaves reverberated through the depths, tearing apart the ocean’s surface in a violent upheaval, and the sheer force of the collision blasted the water into mist, revealing the ocean floor as if peeling away the layers of reality.
Even from the void of space, the radiant burst was visible—acting like a beacon that illuminated the cosmic darkness.
But as all things came to an end, so did this display of power.
The dazzling explosion gradually subsided, leaving behind an aftermath that was far from tranquil.
Yedrist panted heavily, with trickles of blood dripping from the sides of his jaws.
’My energy circuits are fried!!’
Activating Six Pseudo-Authorities at once and combining their powers into one breath attack was Yedrist’s trump card, and it wasn’t something he could use without repercussions.
Even with his transcendent regenerative prowess and the water healing spell he activated silently, he needed a few seconds to heal from the damage.
And Alvey saw those few seconds as a perfect chance.
**CRACK!
[?!]
Yedrist shivered as a cold sensation raced down his serpentine spine, sensing an otherworldly disturbance. Beside Alvey’s arm, the fabric of space itself ruptured, creating a rift reminiscent of shattered glass, as if an unseen force had flung a stone through the space.
There were two reasons Alvey had set up a concealment formation before approaching Yedrist. To prevent the other Transcendents from sensing this battle, was just one reason.
The Second was that Alvey didn’t want anyone finding out he had ’this’.
Alvey dipped his hand into the shattered space and grabbed onto something, pulling it out while speaking three words.
["Awaken: Rule Breaker."]
