Chapter 404: Not all Rule Breakers are friendly
["Awaken: Rule Breaker."]
He pulled out a spear, one shining brightly with so much divine light, that it was difficult to see the spear’s physical form.
As Yedrist laid eyes on it, he instinctively tapped into the energies of not just his Pseudo-Authorities but also every law he had comprehended over the years.
It was an instinctive reaction to the danger his very soul felt from that spear.
Ignoring the strain on his energy circuits and the excruciating pain searing through his soul from the overwhelming law power, Yedrist focused solely on countering the imminent threat.
’I have to end it all in one go!’
On the other hand, Alvey had a similar thought as he used his left hand to hold up his right arm which grasped the spear.
’I only have one chance!’
His arm trembled heavily, his skin peeled off like boiling water scalding his flesh, and blood spluttered on his white robes.
Noticing this, Yedrist’s mind quickly formed a conjecture.
’Could it be...? An Ego weapon that doesn’t accept him!’
The Sea Serpent was right on the money, as the reason why Alvey did not use this powerful card, was because the weapon had not accepted him.
All Rule Breakers had wills, and though not all of them transformed into full-blown consciousnesses like Lostvayne and Celestia, they certainly had enough will to pick their wielder.
And this one didn’t like Alvey even the slightest bit.
The fact that the spear didn’t let Alvey use its true power, ironically allowed Alvey to brute force his way into using the spear despite its rejection of him.
Summoning all his strength, Alvey hurled the spear forward, its trajectory aimed true. In perfect synchronization, Yedrist unleashed his formidable combination breath attack once more, with this version being even stronger due to the higher law energies within it.
Once more, the fabric of space was ruptured as the spear, propelled by Alvey’s might collided with the maelstrom of elemental fury fired by Yedrist.
The collision birthed another blinding spectacle that illuminated the battlefield with a burst of ’Cosmic’ radiance.
[‽‽‽]
Yedrist suddenly felt a surge of energy from behind him, and it didn’t take him up to a second to figure out the source. Especially since Alvey’s figure which should have been behind the spear he had just thrown, wasn’t there anymore.
’He used the spear as bait!
The Sea Serpent roared internally as he summoned more of his power to fight back against the spear, but this meant he would be vulnerable to whatever it was Alvey was doing behind him.
So he tried to divert a bit of his consciousness to attack Alvey, redirecting a bit of power to his tail to fire a beam from there.
But this meant that the power of his Breath attack was reduced.
**BOOM!
A resounding sonic boom echoed and the pressure of the radiant spear doubled in intensity, disrupting Yedrist’s concentration and forcing him to return all his mental focus to the breath he was firing from his mouth.
It was as if the Spear had been infused with newfound power, and this left Alvey surprised because he hadn’t done a single thing!
’Perhaps...the spear’s power?!’
In reality, the spear had just controlled the ambient cosmic energy and whirled it around to grant itself more piercing power, but since none of the two combatants could sense cosmic energy, they could not tell why the spear’s power suddenly increased.
Regardless of whether that was the case or not, Alvey was grateful that the increase in piercing power had caused Yedrist to redirect his full focus on it.
And that gave him the time he needed, to use his Skill + Pseudo-Authority combination once more.
’Dark Child of Light: Radiant Nova Blade!’
He firmly gripped the handle of the giant sword with both hands, summoning every ounce of his strength to unleash a mighty swing towards Yedrist.
The colossal blade sliced through the Sea Serpent’s tail effortlessly, continuing its destructive path to collide with scales, tearing them asunder.
[GAAARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!]
Yedrist’s agonizing scream echoed as the Radiant Nova Blade ruthlessly shredded his scales, rending his flesh, and cleaving his bone.
The Rule Breaker simultaneously took advantage of the reduced intensity of the breath and drew in more cosmic energy, accelerating its forward momentum.
The weapon punctured Yedrist’s kaleidoscopic breath, impaling through his open maw and exiting the back of his skull simultaneously with Alvey severing his head from its neck.
But instead of revelling in the feeling of victory from slaying his foe, Alvey quickly used his Pseudo-Authorities and the energy of the law of constructs to transform the Radiant Nova blade into a whip.
He then spun around and flung the whip in the direction of the Rule Breaker that continued flying into the sky, attempting to escape the planet’s atmosphere.
"You’re not going anywhere."
Faster than the weapon’s ego could make the decision to release its self-imposed seal, Alvey’s whip wrapped around it and he pulled the spear back to himself and grabbed it with his hands.
In a seamless motion, Alvey stuffed the spear back into the punctured space, returning it to the alternate dimension.
Only then did he divert his attention to the notifications that awaited in his field of view.
[Level Up]

[...]
He dismissed the notification, before turning his gaze back to the Sea Serpent’s corpse that now floated on the ocean’s turbulent waters.
"Hmm? What’s that?"
An orb of faint blue light emerged from the body of the Sea Serpent, but before Alvey’s weakened body could move towards it, the light orb shot in the opposite direction, at literal Light Speed.
It wasn’t something Alvey could catch up to even if he elementalized his body so he just sighed and released his ’True Form’.
’I’m sure that certainly was not the Serpent’s Soul or a Soul fragment. Could it be the Serpent borrowed power from someone or something?’
"That’d be troublesome...I don’t want anyone to know that I’ve killed him for now."
He sighed once more before pulling up his status and looking at the level tab.

"Tsk...and they say being an Irregular is a good thing because I have more power than people in my Existence Realm.
Do they think that extra power comes out of nowhere?"
The man was quite miffed as the number of levels he gained from killing a Transcendent like Yedrist who had six Pseudo-Authorities was far less than what someone on his level would normally gain.
"I gain more exp than average, but I also need more exp than average so it does not really make much of a difference.
My level’s only gone so high in such a short amount of time due to the continuous wars I’ve put myself into."
Dismissing the status board, the Greater Demon popped open a magic potion and drank its contents, while pulling out a walkie-talkie.
He tossed the potion bottle into the ocean before speaking into the device.
"Jabberwocky. You’re up.
Don’t let the Aramisians find out what has just transpired."
[As you wish, my lord.]
After receiving a reply, Alvey flapped his wings and flew high up into the sky, watching as the Sea Serpent’s body slowly sunk to the Ocean’s depths.
He looked towards Plomux and infused his eyes with magic power, just in time to see a giant Sea Serpent that looked exactly like Yedrist rising up from the ocean near the continent, at a perfect distance that someone on the shores could see him with their naked eyes.
Not that there was anyone alive on said shores.
"Good job."
Leaving those two words, Alvey conjured a teleportation magic circle beneath his feet and disappeared from the area.

Sometime after Alvey disappeared, the corpse of the deceased Sea Serpent Yedrist continued its descent to the ocean floor.
From a distance of a few kilometres, a long, scaled figure watched the corpse sink with a dark look in their eyes.
They appeared to be a smaller version of the Sea Serpent, and held in their mouth, was the orb of light that had escaped Yedrist’s corpse right after he died.
After staring at the sinking corpse for a few moments, the figure turned around and disappeared into the dark ocean depths.
