Chapter 401: Yedrist of Chatane

Chatane Ocean

November 15th

530th Divine Year

The Chatane Ocean was the body of water that separated the Guwos continent which had been conquered by Demons and the Plomux continent which was still under the control of the Aramisians.

It was an area that both the Aramisians and Gozonian demons didn’t dare tread.

These waters were home to a ’Peak’ Transcendent Realm Existence, a powerful Sea Serpent who dominated the entire area.

The Aramisians knew him, as ’Yedrist of Chatane’ or ’The Leviathan’.

Yedrist, despite being an Aramisian, did not side with them in the war against Gozon, and neither did he jump ships to the demon’s side.

He remained Neutral in this war.

Records of Yedrist’s existence date back 1000 years of Aramis’ history, meaning that the Sea Serpent had been there even longer than the current Divine Year Calendar system.

People of his generation had either died or ascended to become Higher Existences, yet, Yedrist remained on Aramis.

His mere presence on the Chatane ocean was a barrier that prevented the Demon Navy from crossing to wage war on Plomux.

They attempted it before, but he singlehandedly repelled them all with ease, and even defeated two Transcendent High Demons.

As for the Aramisians, they had tried to use the ocean as well, but the Sea Serpent didn’t let them pass either.

Since the ocean was his ’Territory’ it was virtually impossible for beings above a certain level of power to enter without him knowing.

The Divine Human Transcendents of Aramis had attempted to negotiate with him, but the Sea Serpent refused to listen to anything they said.

This wasn’t a surprise though, as even when the planet was still free of the demon’s clutches, many nations had wanted to wage war on his oceans but the Sea Serpent did not permit them to even then.

He sent forth his servants to drown the ships of both sides and the two powerful nations lost their strongest combatants.

It was on this same ocean, around an area that could be called the ’centre’, that the Greater Demon Arthur and Sigesi were looking for.

He hovered a few metres above the water in silence, letting the ocean breeze blow through his striking black hair.

Abruptly, the waters around him turned turbulent, and with an elemental force, they surged upward to unveil the colossal head of a scaled reptilian creature.

As the churning waves subsided, the leviathan emerged, its long neck extended high above, and it peered down with its sea-blue eyes that held a glint in its depths.

[Demon of Light.]

"For someone who claims to not care about the war, you’re quite well-learned, Yedrist."

[Ha! Even if I do not care, would it not be wise for me to know the names of the major players on both sides? People who could be potential threats to my peace and quiet.]

Yedrist’s deep voice echoed out with authority, while Alvey silently analysed the Leviathan’s power.

Though they were both Transcendents, Alvey only held Two Pseudo-Authorities in the laws of Light and Space.

But from Yedrist, Alvey could sense thrice that number, as well as the energies of a few other universal laws.

’His thousand years weren’t a waste of time. This confirms my guess that he’s purposely stalling his exuviation.’

Just as Alvey was studying the Leviathan, the reverse was the case.

[The younger generation is quite something.

You aren’t even up to a century old, and yet, you’re already on my level.]

Yedrist easily saw through Alvey’s level and the reason why the Greater Demon had not yet become a Demigod realm despite being a Superior Transcendent with 2 Pseudo-Authorities.

He wasn’t at the Peak of Transcendence yet.

Using the Levelling System, Alvey was around level 972. It was the same with McEnda whose level was only below Alvey’s by a little bit.

Though they didn’t act like it, Alvey and McEnda III were talents.

The kind, usually referred to as ’One in a million years’ Geniuses.

They achieved Transcendence before they were even 40 years old, and possessed Pseudo-Authorities in laws; meaning they had already hit the required comprehension mark for the next Level of Existence.

Alvey had done this in two laws and was close to it for a third.

Becoming a Superior Transcendent in 50 years was one thing, then doing it with two Pseudo-Authorities was a different ball game.

McEnda and Alvey’s ages put together, weren’t up to Sylvan’s, and yet, they were stronger than the man despite being in the same Existence Realm Stage.

They were very much aware of how nonstandard they were, which was why they were always surprised at things Arthur did, as the boy who wasn’t even 18 yet, had two Pseudo-Authorities and was a Legendary as well.

’At that rate, the boy would probably reach Transcendence before 30, 25 even. And he’s also comprehending laws while increasing his Existence Realm without using something as convenient as the Devour Class System.’

Alvey shook his head and sighed as he wondered how Yedrist would react if he saw Arthur.

[What’s got you so lost in your thoughts, Demon of Light?]

"Nothing too serious, just a ridiculous anomaly."

[If it’s nothing serious, then shall we get to the reason for your presence here?]

Yedrist clearly wanted to get this talk over with and get back to his slumber, but Alvey acted like they had all the time in the world.

’Activate Concealment Beacons.’

Alvey muttered inwardly, and at four points faraway points around them, buoys floating in the water lit up with a dark light, before disappearing completely.

"Eventually, in this war, the Demon Army would move to conquer Plomux."

The Greater Demon gestured to the continent on his left and Yedrist glanced there momentarily, his gaze crossing the thousands of kilometres of distance and seeing the shores of Plomux.

[And so? What does that have to do with me?]

"I was just thinking that a Sea Bound sneak attack from Guwos would certainly be a good one."

Yedrist raised a brow when he heard Alvey’s words, bringing his head closer to the Greater Demon and questioning.

[Are you telling me to let you pass? I believe I’ve made my stance clear time without number; that NONE pass here.]

"That stance of yours would not last too long. Eventually, both sides would need to use this ocean as a route.

And in that situation, if you remain stubborn, I feel your fellow Aramisians would move to eliminate you faster than we demons would take action."

Alvey was referring to the fact that both Gozonians and Aramisians were using Yedrist as a shield so they could focus on other parts of the planet.

But if the Gozonians succeed in taking control of other continents, they’d need to pass Chatane to get to Plomux. Similarly, if the Aramisians want to retake Guwos, they need to pass this ocean as well.

At that time, they’d definitely come with forces that they could overwhelm Yedrist with.

"Even with all your years and your strength, if the Aramisians sent out a group of Mid Ranked gods, you’d lose.

If they sent a High Rank along...you’re definitely dead."

But despite Alvey’s words, Yedrist only laughed and replied.

[I would not be here when the war reaches such a point.]

This got Alvey narrowing his eyes in suspicion as he questioned why.

[I extended my stay in Transcendence so I could accumulate more Pseudo-Authorities. Solidify my foundations to the point where when I become a Demigod, I might just skip realms straight to the Superior Stage.

But unfortunately, it seems my Soul has reached the limit for how much law power I can accumulate while being a Mortal.

As such, I plan to shed my Mortal Shell and ascend to become a Higher Existence. By then, I would leave this planet for you all to do as you wish.]

Certainly, upon exuviating and becoming a Higher Existence, interstellar travel becomes very easy and Yedrist could leave planet Aramis for another one.

It’s just that there was one problem Alvey found with his plan.

"I appraised you earlier.

And from what I see, the only thing keeping you from exuviating is your Numerical Level.

You refuse to become level 1000, and that is why you did not kill a single one of the demons who tried crossing this Ocean, nor did you kill the Aramisians.

You also commanded the other sea creatures to handle anything below the Sovereign Realm that trespassed into your territory."

[Of course, the moment I get to Level 1000, I’d automatically exuviate and transcend mortality.]

Yedrist agreed with Alvey’s words; not surprised the Greater Demon knew this given it was the same issue that he had.

"But you see, my level is not too far from yours, and I know exactly how much experience I need to get to Level 1000."

Alvey placed his hand on his chin and before looking up at Yedrist and speaking.

"You don’t strike me as someone who’d do something as inefficient as killing thousands of weaker beings to achieve little bits of experience. Even more so when you would not get any experience for things below half your level.

So pointless kills, with you sowing unnecessary Karma.

But there is a very efficient way for you to get enough experience to reach Level 1000 very quickly."
